That was a time when people cared about how they looked in front of others. It's wonderful to see that you are keeping alive a beautiful and prosperous era which has long since gone...
I'm trying to bring that style back to life, but I couldn't find any garments that fit a plus size woman like me. Especially finding a bustle. All the others were made for smaller women.
Me, a fashion history enthusiast: ...That does not really look like 1885 to me... Seriously, I don't want to be rude, but this isn't historically accurate. The corset is the wrong shape, the hair is all wrong, and the decoration of the dress (while lovely) is not quite what was in style in 1885. Again, not trying to be rude. It's really beautiful. Just not especially accurate.
@@vintagelife5195 It’s really more of an interpretation of multiple “Victorian” periods. The hair is early Edwardian-esque? Somewhere between 1898 - 1908. The tailed bodice is very similar to an actual extant garment from the 1870’s First Bustle Era but the cut of the sleeves looks more 1887 - 1892. The skirt shape is 1880’s but the actual skirt has all these flounces that are almost 1860’s(?). That being said it’s most likely more of a fantastical interpretation. Finally, the lappet hat could arguably range from anywhere between 1865 to 1890. Still a gorgeous dress, however.
