    I have two of the FT-100D. One radio is dedicated to POTA with the ATAS-100 antenna. The other goes to my grandson when he gets his license. I have had no problems with the radio.

      Great! yes if you are serious about SWR, you can have years and years of fun! your grandson will love this radio!.

    Hope to someday run across one at a rummage sale. The prices on the internet for the ft-100 and ft-100d are very high, might as well get a brand new ft-891 in my humble opinion.

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  Рік тому +3

      Hi Gordon. Yes prices are high still, but remember, the 891 has only HF/50 .. if you want also VHF/UHF, then an also still expensive 857/897 or the newer 991/A is your pick.. somehow these models keep their price.

      @@TonyAlbus It is reassuring to know when I outgrow a radio, at least it will have a good resale value.

    You can use different microphones on this radio. Just select the appropriate mic in the menu. Also, DSP, DNF(digital notch filter), and bandpass filters are adjustable. Hold down the button for each and it will show the adjustments.

      Hi Pedro, usualy low power is an SWR problem. or if SWR was bad for a long time you could have blown your endstage. 73, Tony PE1ONS

    These radios, at least the non D series have a bad rep. Sure, I'll buy yours for $200. And my offer is usually accepted. It's only the very early non D radios with issues and the mods out there resolve all the problems. The remaining working rigs are likely modded, the others became landfill. Even replacing finals is NBD. I have equipped all my family and good friends with modded FT100 rigs and I'm a superhero for it.

    Congratulations! I also like the FT-100 better. A friend of mine had such a radio 20 years ago and it was something extraordinary. Although in the end I still preferred Icom IC-706mk2g and finally I never regretted it.

      Thank you, yes a great machine especialy in that time. i have had the IC-706mk2 too, the none G version. for me it took a while to get used to the mode switching, but that is ineed a nice radio too.

    Love my ft100d... could you explain the external reference for the marconi please

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  8 місяців тому

      Yes very nice radio! Most of my equipment is connected to external reference as in GPSDO to have a near perfect 10 MHz, for the Marconi the same, but that is converted down to 1 MHz as the marconi uses an older system. i have videos about that if you are interested, look for GPDSO

    • @paultomlinson528

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  8 місяців тому

      @@paultomlinson528 The Rapco is amazing, if it has a 1MHz output too, then you can use that. if it has only 10MHz output, you can use the FDIS-5 to convert it down.
      don't forget to use a 50 Ohms terminator on the side of the Marconi, as it is 1 M Ohms with that 1MHz system/
