I have two of the FT-100D. One radio is dedicated to POTA with the ATAS-100 antenna. The other goes to my grandson when he gets his license. I have had no problems with the radio.
Great! yes if you are serious about SWR, you can have years and years of fun! your grandson will love this radio!.
Hope to someday run across one at a rummage sale. The prices on the internet for the ft-100 and ft-100d are very high, might as well get a brand new ft-891 in my humble opinion.
Hi Gordon. Yes prices are high still, but remember, the 891 has only HF/50 .. if you want also VHF/UHF, then an also still expensive 857/897 or the newer 991/A is your pick.. somehow these models keep their price.
@@TonyAlbus It is reassuring to know when I outgrow a radio, at least it will have a good resale value.
@@justDIY Yes that the positive other side :)
You can use different microphones on this radio. Just select the appropriate mic in the menu. Also, DSP, DNF(digital notch filter), and bandpass filters are adjustable. Hold down the button for each and it will show the adjustments.
Thanks! will try!
Hola mi nombre es Pedro Acosta soy la HI8PAG DE REPÚBLICA DOMINICANA YO TENGO UN RADIO DE ESO ME GUSTA MUCHO ESE RADIO PERO EL MÍO NO TIENE POWER
Hi Pedro, usualy low power is an SWR problem. or if SWR was bad for a long time you could have blown your endstage. 73, Tony PE1ONS
Tony 73, can on Yaesu FT-100 open TX 70 MHz - 4 m band ? TNX -HNY Slavko
Not that i know of sir, 73
These radios, at least the non D series have a bad rep. Sure, I'll buy yours for $200. And my offer is usually accepted. It's only the very early non D radios with issues and the mods out there resolve all the problems. The remaining working rigs are likely modded, the others became landfill. Even replacing finals is NBD. I have equipped all my family and good friends with modded FT100 rigs and I'm a superhero for it.
Plus you don't lose years off your life trying to memorize a menu structure with 16 layers and 400 options.
Good to have super heros around, it is a nice radio indeed.
Congratulations! I also like the FT-100 better. A friend of mine had such a radio 20 years ago and it was something extraordinary. Although in the end I still preferred Icom IC-706mk2g and finally I never regretted it.
Thank you, yes a great machine especialy in that time. i have had the IC-706mk2 too, the none G version. for me it took a while to get used to the mode switching, but that is ineed a nice radio too.
Love my ft100d... could you explain the external reference for the marconi please
Yes very nice radio! Most of my equipment is connected to external reference as in GPSDO to have a near perfect 10 MHz, for the Marconi the same, but that is converted down to 1 MHz as the marconi uses an older system. i have videos about that if you are interested, look for GPDSO
Thank you I will check it out definitely but what system did you use to downconvert it please?
@@paultomlinson528 BG7TBL FDIS-5
@@TonyAlbus ah ok I've a rapco 1804p9 that I was hoping would do the job
@@paultomlinson528 The Rapco is amazing, if it has a 1MHz output too, then you can use that. if it has only 10MHz output, you can use the FDIS-5 to convert it down.
don't forget to use a 50 Ohms terminator on the side of the Marconi, as it is 1 M Ohms with that 1MHz system/
Mooie radio, ik zou er een moord voor doen om zoiets te hebben.
Thanks! , ja erg blij mee. gewoon op marktplaats en een beetje geluk.
Nice job Tony, as good as new.👍
Thank you!
Wonderful Video. Thanks for posting it. New Sub
Thank you! and for the sub
Tony, can you do a video on programming the FT-100 PLEASE?
Hi Randy, what do you want me to program? memory channels or what do you mean, i always like new ideas for videos
@@TonyAlbus Tony, I would like to see the sequence of programming memory channels, including the info for encoding CTCSS and saving to segmented memory. I just picked up a 100d and I can’t seem to get it programmed correctly. Thanks!
dat heb je weer goed gedaan tony en ik heb hier ook weer wat van geleerd .groetjes pa0jax (jaap)
Dank je Jaap, ja helemaal blij mee, en bedankt voor je leuke bericht!
Thanks for the video. Very satisfying! 😄
Thanks Nick!
@@TonyAlbus I just purchased a FT857D and am waiting for it to arrive. I sat thru a bunch of related videos last night but your cleaning video was my favorite! :D I'll check out your other stuff. Thanks again!
@@NickCornaglia Nice radio, the 897, good catch! Hope yous display is good, if not, her is a solution, (or for older eyes also good) ua-cam.com/video/ZABdHzgIO_A/v-deo.html
i read wrong, you have the brother 857 ... i need to make a cleaning video of mine too... also finding out if its a D or not... more is coming, thanks for watching.
@@TonyAlbus Brother 856. Isn't that a sewing machine? No you were correct. The Yaesu FT-857D. Your FT100 video popped up afterwards and I was drawn in. :D
Muy bueno.73.👍
Gracias!
🙂👍
Thank you!
Netjes weer Tony..
Dank je! ja was leuk te doen.
