Great information!!! I bought an old unit 10x54. Came with a backwashing head. The standpipe is a cone style with plastic discs stacked and screwed together. If i simply never backwash it can it have the same positive effect as the non backwashing units? I have perfect water except low pH.
I'm told I need one of these as a first step in treating 15ppm iron. My water is pretty soft, 6.5-6.6ph. Can I get away with a non-backwashing unit? I am thinking that as soon as one of the downstream filters backwash, it would essentially backwash any upflow filters before it as well since it will be flowing 10-12gpm upflow.
@@daniels2535 no with that much iron I would recommend our 2510AIO system it will remove the iron and raise the ph at the same time. No need for the neutralizer midatlanticwater.net/products/iron-removal-filter-fleck-2510aio-2-5-cubic-foot-13-54-with-katalox-light
Why is every water treatment company I’m contacting in MA advising me against a non back-washing unit? I don’t have iron or sediment issues. They all say there can be compaction issues and they would “NEVER” install one. 🤷🏻♂️
We’ve been selling them for 25 years no issues. Most of our new customers are replacing backwashing systems with non backwashing. We sell both. 99% choose the non backwashing no issues. I installed and serviced them for over 20 years
We sell them, but in most cases their not necessary. They waste a lot of water and require a drain and electric. The non backwashing doesn’t need any of that and is much less expensive and much more efficient
please shorten up your presentation. You have spent the first 8 minutes saying backwashing uses lots of water and how it goes to your septic system and how the valve may fail. Get to the point of a non back washing system.
Awesome video, wish you guys were in CT.

Good info thank you
Thanks for the info👍
THANK YOU!
You're welcome!
I currently have 4.5ppm iron and 5.0 to 5.5 ph before softener. Can this unit be used with a sediment filter?
As long as the iron is filtered out before going into the neutralizer
@@Papawalsh7 any advice on filtering to remove 4.5ppm in iron before neutralizer?
@@chester5010 I sent you an email
Does it install before or after a water softner system?

sounds like you don't like the backwashing units.
