Started a site 8 months ago... all my content handwritten by me an expert in my field, content (Images and video) all made by me, no links or AI, hopefully in a couple years it will be big but I just love making good content!
Love this approach and mindset! For me personally, I have to be passionate about the topic or else I burn out. One of those, "I'd work on this just for fun even if I wasn't getting paid" type of projects. Ironically, those are typically the ones that have the best chance of having an in-built competitive advantage, thus leading to monetization lol

I've seen so many travel sites affected by these updates though with fantastic content, what's more concerning is that really bad results with poor UI are ranking. I've seen lots of DA 15 or so unprofessional and poorly formatted sites ranking for difficult terms while the professional bloggers with great EEAT, formatting, OG photos, UX, are on page 2. This makes no sense to me
Can you share any keyword(s) where this is happening? I'd like to take a look and research
This is the best video I have watched on the subject. I have always wondered where the lost traffic goes, someone else must be getting them. I have taken the discipline to write my content by hand, struggling to write 3 articles a week (2-3k words for each), I don't have the traffic coming in yet but it is nice to hear from you that it will pay off in the long term. I personally believe AI Content is polluting the internet with garbage content.
Thanks for the kind feedback. Yes I agree, lots of garbage out there, and fairly easy to see through if you know the subject. I think quality is evergreen.
You must know that creating product related text is getting hit for being AI even when it was not AI. There is now a new issue. Google cannot tell what is real vs AI. Read that again because I totally believe it can’t and I have some tests currently running to determine that.

I'm really glad that Google is cracking down on low-quality content. This gives us a better opportunity to rank higher. I put in a lot of time and effort to create valuable content, unlike those spammers who just copy and paste.

I never would have guessed that articles should have so many keywords. Ive been taught to keep it between 3-5!!
Just to clarify: 1 main keyword, possibly 3-4 related keywords to that main. The rest are going to be long tail phrase matches of those keywords, on avg I'm seeing around ~70 KWs per article on Ahrefs and anywhere from ~25-500+ KWs on KeywordsEverywhere (they have more small variations than Ahrefs counts). The hundreds of KWs are not ones you actively try to include, they get picked up naturally from those main KWs and your content itself.

I write a travel blog (11 years old) where I provide what I consider "useful" travel information about the destinations I visit. Many of my keywords ranked on the 1st page of Google for years in a row and survived all algorithm updates, but this last one hit me hard. While I find your video very helpful, I still can't figure out what I could do better. I use use no AI, no black hat links, have beautiful photos and update my information regularly. Unfortunately, when you write destination guides you provide very similar information with other writers, so it's really difficult to stand out. Any suggestions for improvements in travel writing?

To me a higher barrier of entry is more encouraging.
Agreed! People need to look for moats instead. Low barrier of entry means your entire business can be replicated overnight, so run the opposite way.

Hey, I have seen a massive drop in the traffic of some of blogs. I don't understand why this is happening. In just 4 days, rankings of multiple pages have dropped from SERP 1 (US) to 6, 7 or sometimes 2nd page.
What do you think the reason should be?

thoughts on de-indexing. I have too much content to go in and reformat everything so I've been de-indexing a lot
Yes, completely removing the content that you think is especially problematic or outside your niche and perhaps reason for getting penalized is advised. Otherwise, reworking it completely can also do the trick, if the KW is important to you.
@@oDiProductions sorry - my question was is de-indexing enough or does it have to be completely unpublished and deleted. I have a few articles that are low-quality, or they're too personal-story focused that I'm hesitant to delete in case anyone is interested, and aren't really worth re-working.
I’d unpublish that and any low quality content that wasn’t ultimately serving the site
I Only use AI for grammar and punctuation to be honest
allot of talk, no action for a newbie he's not actually showing HOW he's just telling us change needs to happen, examples and analytics would be helpful
I think what he said sounds pretty simple but what he’s saying is basically follow Googles EEAT policy, make sure all content is user oriented and not algorithm driven.
