EXACTLY! I think Nando is kind of crazy saying that the Christopher Reeves and other similar suits are amongst the best. They just read as dopey to me. I know this is a fictional world but try to imagine if firefighters and EMTs were dressed as clowns. It almost feels disrespectful to how serious their jobs are, ya know? Most of the stuff is practical, either to keep them safe or to allow access to items they need on site. I think that makes a lot of sense for hero costumes too. Sure, they can be silly and themed. But, idk. I also feel like i need to believe the could actually be clothes, ya know?
Yup. People that complain about lines don't really get it. There's a reason Raimi didn't go through with the accurate symbiote suit. It looked like a gimp suit live action. They need some texture or something to them
No, the lines and textures in modern costumes is all because they are mostly coming from the same costume designer... Judianna Makovsky seems like she just can't help herself but to add unnecessary lines
My guess is that this suit is a Kryptonian military uniform. The colar, the way the cape atatches, the material of the suit, and the wrinkles at the shoulders make me think that this is the suit worn by the Kryptonian military. Similar to what the classic version of General Zod wore
@@joshwagner4134If not they can add it in a sequel or something if the rest of the movie is good. That high neck colar is the one thing I really dislike. The rest I can get used to.
@@joshwagner4134Imagine a scene where Clark’s back at the farm, around morning, mentally lost before Act 3 starts, him and Ma Kent have a talk about whatever, she notices this suit is absolutely wrecked and decides to make him a new one, Clark accepts. They continue to have a nice conversation where Ma Kent is measuring him with tape measure, and then she asks him if he wants a nice bowl of Beef Bourguignon. Clark is then eating outside on the porch, by this time the sun is setting and all you can see is his silhouette and the house’s as the reddish-orange hue colours the maize field. Ma Kent invites Clark back inside and says “Done! Now I do hope it fits you right.” and she’s holding up the classic suit, made from the blankets Clark was wrapped in as a baby.
James Gunn has said this film is about Superman dealing with the balance of his Kryptonian and Earth heritage. I feel the suit is his "Kryptonian" suit. But by the end of the film, he'll get something closer to the edit as he realizes he's both Human and Kryptonian. Keeps the colors, but softens out the suit to match humanity. Changing the S. I think this suit is OK, it doesn't feel iconic, though.

@@baronvgit’s not as loose fitting as you think. He’s sitting and hunched over, with his arms arched forwards. So naturally ripples will appear by the shoulder, even if the suit is perfectly suited. The suits are not rubber or foam, they are more of a stitched leather. A traditional S logo has been utilised a lot and this movie needs to stick out. We may go back to the original S going forward.
The fact that Superman is unhurriedly putting his red wellies on one by one while sitting in an armchair like a dad with a bad back, while Metropolis is being fried, is so peak Gunn.
I’m pretty sure this is going to represent the theme of “legacy” and how it feels like a burden. Then he’ll get a more classic look by the end when he decides what kind of hero he wants to be
I think the texture is really just about how I doubt like casual audiences could take anyone seriously if they looked like they were wearing pajamas, personally I would love very bright and solid colours but I can see how they wouldnt look on camera and casual audiences just wouldnt like em
I’ve seen theories that this will be sort of a reverse Kingdom Come story. It will be about rejecting the modern “realistic”/ less hopeful superhero trajectory and by the end, David will be wearing a much more classic looking suit
Amalgamation. That word always makes me think of throw up. Like mixing everything up and regurgitating it. Just pick one. Fence sitting is a national pastime.
I agree that this suit could’ve been made on Krypton maybe as a military uniform and that could explain the collar and more authoritarian look. Then either at the end of this movie or in a different movie later down the line he wears a more traditional suit that pays homage to this suit while also combining it with a more friendly, simplistic look that’s more welcoming to the people of Earth. He combines his Kryptonian heritage with what he’s learned about humanity while being raised on Earth. Then maybe Supergirl goes through a similar costume transformation after she sees how her cousin adopts the customs and traditions of Earth and how humanity accepts them as heroes. I think it fits nicely with the idea of legacy that this movie’s going for and would be a good visual representation of the journey Superman might go on in the film.
I think you’re right that this isn’t gonna be the only Superman suit you see in this movie. I wouldn’t be shocked if this is deliberately made to resemble a more modern Superhero suit, and by the end of the movie you see him don a much more simple, iconic Superman design to parallel the rumored “reverse Kingdom Come” arc of the movie where it is very much about transitioning from that modern, edgier, militant age of heroes into a more classic, optimistic, and simple one
years ago, a friend of mine described the textured look on Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man suit as "made of basketballs" and I've never been able to unsee that. It still applies here.
The geometrical lines going around Superman's costume doesn't fit him. It makes it look complicated which is like, the antithesis to Superman's costume.
My reaction "hmm, I'm not against it, but it doesn't quite look right..." glad to hear you kind of identify why it feels a little off for me. Saw enough posts loving it to wonder if I was crazy.
It’s not an ideal costume for sure, I think the texture lines are a bit unnecessary, but I’ve always been a rare Superman collar truther. I don’t know what it is in particular, I wasn’t a huge fan of New 52 Superman overall, and ironically even in a lot of his stories they forget the collar, depending on the artist. But I’ve always liked it. It’s definitely part of the desire to do something different with the costume, a change that feels very significant to make it clear that this is a new universe and a new version of the character. Maybe that’s why I think it works here, too, to contrast with Cavil. But I do like the way it makes the suit feel more snug and more like a costume, since I tend to see the existence of the costume as a very deliberate choice by Clark to let people see that he’s there to help. It works less in the New 52 where Batman was on the scene before Clark was, but I think it could work here. But that’s just my two cents, I know I’m in the minority by a lot here
This movie is going to be a very introspective one, not just on the nature of the superhero but for Clark himself. Who he is, who he wants to be, how he sees himself and his own existence, what he wants the new wave of heroes in his wake to look like. So it seems given that Gunn is going to have his exploratory innerward character arc be the main focus even moreso than his other work, and once he reaches his conclusion by the end of the film (even if not a conclusive or permanent one) it seems very likely he's going to switch to something much more simple.
Not to nitpick, but if I had a complaint, it'd be the fabric bunching up in the shoulder makes it seem like it doesn't fits him quite right, and the cuffs look rather thick, almost like armored paneling, or light gauntlets. But in all honesty, I'll just wait to see it in action.
I do think this suit is brighter when it isn’t battle damaged, and agree generally on the Snyder suit, with one exception. The one major advantage of the Snyder suit is how the cape attaches to the suit. The way it folds and gracefully attaches to a clearly designed mounting point just tickles the brain. Looks gorgeous in flight, best the cape has ever looked by a million miles.
I've been saying the collar makes him look too military/ like a cop for ages, thank you for agreeing. Superman should not look like a cop, he should look like your friend.
I’ve heard a lot of people comment that they’re surprised his suits isn’t brighter. I think that this is a very interesting image. While his suit is primarily darkened by shadows and some obvious battle-wear, there are very obvious hints towards the image so many of us have in our minds. The colors behind Kal paint the sky with shades of purple and green. Commonly associated with villains across comic book lines, these secondary colors are also closely aligned with Green Lanterns (confirmed to be in the movie) and Lex Luther (ditto) Meanwhile, our hero is getting dressed for work as any other person on this planet might on any given day. He’s got clear signs of many hours logged, this suit is far from fresh off the rack. Yet… as he slips on his red boots, the scarlet shows brightly with just a glimpse of the cheerful & friendly blue of his suit-leg. A sign of his underlying purity and the hop he brings those who see his colors blur across the sky Love the 2nd channel Nando! Not to nitpick, not unlike your podcast Mostly Nitpicking, it would be cool to see videos or clips of you and the gents doing the podcast. Thanks for all the great work!
It's a very MCU costume, where costumes have some thickness to them kinda like captain America, probably heavily inspired since Gunn was a big part of the mcu for so long and the GotG costumes are so good and follow that same line
There are other ways to break up the blue in the suit without the goofiness of trunks. And the New 52esque collar...they should have just gone with the open neck, especially if they are using trunks. Oh well, it is what it is. One thing is certain, they better get the story on point or this movie will sink like an anchor.
Not just the costume but the tone of the photo itself is strangely off putting to me. Say what you will about the Fantastic Four cast but at least that Valentine's Day announcement photo (which was also sort of a costume reveal) actually seemed to match the expected tone of the movie or its setting or characters. The tone of this Superman picture though just seems so conflicting with everything we had been hearing. Normally there'd be nothing wrong with that, but in this case it invites obvious comparisons to Snyder's take on the character's first outing.
I generally don't mind the lines, but I don't think they really work here. They generally go on skintight suits (I always figured the point was to break up what would otherwise be a full skinsuit), but here his suit is clearly fabric so it just looks clunky. With the way it bunches up at the shoulders, to me it kinda looks like he's wearing a Henry Cavill Superman Halloween costume. I'm ready to be won over by it when we get a better look at it, but I will need to be won over.
No but thanks for the snap content, I wasn't into the game at all then I watched some of your videos to pass the time and got super into the game. Thanks for getting me into it
I don’t hate this costume but I definitely think that Super Man is one of the few characters that only really makes sense to be in skin tight spandex. It’s pretty much Sups, The Flash, Spider-Man and the Fantastic 4 that should keep it skin tight. Honestly the thinner Super Man’s suit is the more clearly his invulnerability reads.
I absolutely hate the texture. Also if I were the actor and got as jacked as David has for the role and then they made the suit so loose fitting I’d be like really?!
It's not loose fitting and the muscle wouldn't show up anyway. Cavill wore fake sculpted muscles under the superman suit despite getting ripped just for that reason. Hell Reeves got quite buff for the role too but it doesn't come across under the suit
I've heard the theory that the Kingdom Come influence on this movie is gonna be a reverse Kingdom Come: where the current heroes are militarised and cynical and then Superman arrives and ushers the world into a Golden Age of Heroism. With this in mind, it's possible that this suit is the one Superman wears initially to conform to that darker era, but later he goes to a simpler version as part of making a statement.
It looks to me that the picture is taken at a point in Superman's day when he's been through ordeal after ordeal trying to keep Metropolis safe, flying through burning buildings, stopping muggings, saving kittens, battling androids and what not, and he's just returned home, suit covered in the debris, ready to kick the boots off... and now Solaris has come down from the sky, blasting the city. And already, it's time to suck it up, put the boots back on and fly back out there. I think the film may be humanising the responsibility Superman has, in a way that's very much akin to characters like Spider-Man. This picture, to me, indicates that the film will be, at least in part, about Superman coming to terms with the immense responsibility on his shoulders and adjusting to the many demands on his time, which I think makes sense, given that the film is very much about Superman in his early days, grappling with his Kryptonian legacy, reconciling it with his place on Earth and discovering what it means to be Superman.
I think the collar and the boots can have another non authoritarian meaning, Superman is putting on his boots even in a time of peril in this photo, and I think the collar and him putting on his boots even in distress can give him the interpretation of being a symbol of a working man, no matter how bleak the situation is, Superman is still suiting up to fight
My brain reads things as symbolic so I'm reading this image like his top half is covered in soot because he's dealing with a huge problem but his feet and legs are pristine as if to say this Superman has his feet firmly planted in the bright, hopeful, better tomorrow idealism Supes' has been sorely missing on the silver screen
I imagine the collar will make a really clean line as well for the vfx artists. Its clean and distinct, good for crops, face/body swaps, etc. We all know how much directors lean on the vfx team for suits. Just my thoughts.
I don't like the new 52 collar but not just because it's a collar. I don't like them bc every hero had the same collar and the same physique and the same face and it felt very uninspired. Here there's barely a collar, it makes it feel more like a top than a body suit
In some versions the superman suit is Ma Kent making it from the blanket that baby clark was wrapped in. I always liked the origin of suit being Ma Kent making it from Lara's blanked wrapped on clark. It makes his suit much like him a product of krypton and kansas alike.
I was waiting for this since I saw the trunks. I do hope that in different lighting it looks bright and bolder, the colors and art in All-Star Superman is my favorite version of the Superman visual style.
Sorta makes me instantly worried about this interpretation. nonchalantly focusing on the suit while people are dying is… a take. I won’t jump to conclusions from a teaser image but it wasn’t exactly what I expected. The suit looks great tho.
When I first saw the suit I wasn’t sure how to feel about it but it’s grown on me a bit. I think my main issue is that it looks a bit baggier than I would’ve liked but other than that I don’t mind it.
I really like the fact that it looks like a costume. Not some weird form fitting thing. Like, I know it’s accurate to be a perfect skin tight suit, but I prefer when it feels like a tangible object
Maybe I’m in the minority on this but I think it looks kind of perfect? Like it’s a perfect fusion of his more modern looks like the Snyderverse and New 52 versions with the more traditional aspects from the classic comics and Reeves movies. The boots are great. Trunks are a win. Hair looks good. I like the collar, tbh. If this IS like the suit he gets from maybe his dad, then it makes sense it would be slightly more formal with the collar since it’s Kryptonian. But the highest praise I can say is that when I first saw this image out of context, I thought it was just REALLY good fan art, and to me that is a good sign for any adaptation.
OMG .. seriously, I am 62 years old and I have been a fan of Superman since I was 7 and this amount of fuss about the SUIT stuns me … really . Give me a great story and some awesome flight scenes and I am good !! I don’t get this amount of attention to the suit wow 🤯
I think the best way to explain / design Clark’s costume in universe is for the Kent’s to like old strongman performances. Just make the implicit inspirations explicit lol.
I kinda wanted Superman’s costume to be made by Ma Kent, to really drive home that Superman doesn’t need extravagant clothing, or fancy padding… just the hand-stitched love of his mother. It would have served as a testament to the lovable wholesome farm boy that Superman’s always been. At least they embraced the red shorts. I’ve also never been a fan of the New 52 Superman costume. It (like the overworked hyper-detailed MCU costumes) suffers from excessive line-work, and the collar almost militarizes the costume. That’s why the collar works for Injustice Superman, or Soviet Superman. Having no collar, the campy red undies, the bold logo, and the simple fabrics is what helps make Superman so endearing just to look at. It adds a layer of (physical) humility to one of the most humble and wholesome superheroes. Going for excessive line-work detail, and giving it the look of being thick/padded was a very unfortunate choice that they made. Oh well. I just hope it looks better when we see more of it later on.
This is basically the Supergirl Tyler Hoechlin Superman suit ,From the boots to the cape. The Superman & Lois suit is probably the best Superman suit to date and the original Cavill costume minus the muted color.
What if the costume was made by Maxwell Lord, who gives all of the other heroes (GL, Metamorpho, etc.) their costumes. This one could be based on one that Martha made for him in his first years as Superman. The new suit could be meta for modern MCU style suits that Clark rejects in the end of the film for his original.
Honestly, while ig the picture kinda shows off like a day in the life of Superman, it sucks at showing the suit off. Gunn and Dc need to release a pic of him in just the classic fist on the hips, cape flowing in the wind picture to really show off the suit and corenswet.
I dont't know what people are complaining about in terms of the suit not being skin tight. It is when he stands. I'm impressed that a Superhero movie has a suit with no padding. I don't like the collar. My only thought is that it evokes the idea of a young Superman on general audiences? It's comprimise to get a certain segment on board for the movie? Maybe? I'm sure we will get multiple suits in the franchise. I wish I loved it though.
I kind of feel the same way, one thing you didn't really mentioned is it looks kind of baggy or ill fitting. Might just be because he's leaned over sitting down, but it just looks a bit clunky looking.
I heard that the costume texture works better with camera focusing, lighting etc. Not sure if that’s correct but sounds plausible. Personally, I like the traditional Reeve version but understand the need to do something new. I think the collar could be a wink to Supes being a ‘blue collar’ farm boy…? 🤔
I like that it looks loose. Imagine tying your shoes, ur shirt gets a little baggy. Gives this the feel that these are real clothes. Cavill's looked painted on and I could never imagine him being able to actual put it on like clothes. Also, for the bit about the texture and the lines, idk sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I think here it's pretty minimal compared to some suits we've gotten and I vastly prefer texturing to just like a unitard or something ya know? Like that would look silly (looking at u Reeve suit). I'd say this has a good blend of stuff going on. It's clearly battle damaged and he's hunched over so the light isn't hitting it right. He's not standing, fist in the air, taking off for the sky. Really I think a lot of the hate here is just ppl as always looking for something to whine about. If that's ur deal, leave the rest of us out of it and go whine in the corner is all I'm saying.
People saying, “Maybe he’ll get a more classic look later,” and me when I saw this saying, “Wow! That’s a great suit! Finally we have a more faithful suit in a movie!” 😂 I think the collar is a bit of a silly thing to get hung up on. It’s barely even there since it doesn’t go that high up his neck. Idk, I wouldn’t mind if this WAS his suit!
While I am not a huge fan of the suit design, I don't think it's a bad suit. I like how it still looks like a Superman suit and the colors fit with the suit. IF I could put on my Nando Rewrite helmet, I would have this be the suit Clark wears at the the beginning of the movie. Since James Gunn has confirmed that superheroes have already been around in this universe with Hawkgirl, Green Lantern, and Mr. Terrific being in the movie, what Clark does is take influence from these other heroes and make his suit more uniform-based. It shows that he sees being a superhero as the equivalent to being a solider. He has his heart in the right place, but doesn't fully grasp the idea of being a superhero. What could also be the case, as Nando said, that the suit is Kryptonian and could be a sort of military design. This could also be part of Clark's character arc of trying to honor both is Earth and Kryptian heritage. He doesn't really know how to honor them both, or feel ashamed of being an alien on Earth. Then towards the end of the movie, when he is fulfilling his arc, Clark modifies the costume to make it more simple and less like a uniform. He could even modify the emblem to look more like the traditional one as way to honor his birth home of Krypton and his upbringing on Earth; being the bridge of two worlds, a symbol of a better future.
I have theory that this suit is created by Mr Terrific to harken back to his Kryptonian heritage. That is probably why it looks a bit techy and militaristic. I like the boots, colour scheme and the velvety cape.
I would love for this to be his Kryptonian suit and then near the end it gets damaged and Maby Ma and Pa Kent give him the more regular version with the S.Idk for a Kryptonian battle suit the padding makes it look more like a level one sparring suit which could be the case as Jor-el would still see Clark as his son and not ready.
You really dont think the Vision in the Halloween ass onesie looks silly? I get that maybe some modern costumes are overdesigned but even if we are talking about wrestlers and drag queens who are both famous for their love of leotards, any modern iteration gets critiqued very harshly if they where a completely plain one with no additions, patterns, or designs on it. It is just too plain for almost any character or circumstance imho.
I definitely was a fan of superman as a kid but I just have never been an absolutist with him as a character the way I might be with Spider-Man, I'm a big fan of changing things up with Superman, I loved the New 52 run and the look and I'm a big fan of this look! I like the collar!
A big part of this film, and James Gunn's style in general is world building. I bet this suit is by Star Labs. Good way to introduce the entity of Star Labs early, as it will likely be featured in other films. Logically this would make a lot of sense.
I definitely believe that's just a suit he'll wear for most of the movie, to fit into the world that he lives in, but by the end realize he needs to be himself, and put on a more classic Superman suit to symbolize his embrace of his Kryptonian heritage and Kansas upbringing.
I think he was going for the grant Morrison cape relaxed look and I’m 90% satisfied with the look although I wish it was a little more saturated and spandexy but I think we are going to be in for a treat.
It's becoming apparent that Gunn has gone for an image with a bunch of easter eggs, which has gone over everyone's heads. It's a shame that he didn't go for a simple reveal to start with, but I'm still hoping it all falls into place by the time the movie comes out.
I think this image is darker in tone because the photographer has a specific approach to shooting on set. I think this is more about James gun giving her a platform for her very beautiful photography. I don’t know whether the colors in this the lighting is gonna be.
People aren't getting the bigger picture. He got this suit from Krypton, so it looks futuristic and bulky and has an alien symbol. This Supe will definitely get a suit made by Ma Kent in like the third act. A simple, more traditional, one with a very clearly S symbol. He may be a Kryptonian, but he's his mom's son first.
I'll gladly defend the lined/textured suits as opposed to a leotard look. I don't want my superheroes looking like they hit up Spirit Halloween as they're only costuming source. It looks cheap. Don't get me wrong- a suit can be cheap and look fantastic, but if you're going to save the world, spend more than $30 on the suit, please. A leotard or even spandex should also be very fragile to the sort of paces it would be put through in a fight. The simple Superman suit that his mom made for him should be torn to shreds if he gets put through a wall or gets shot up. Superman is bulletproof; spandex is not. Textured suits at least look like armor that can take a hit.
I like the simple comic book costume designs. why cant they make the live action costumes closer to that. the scarlet witch and vision holloween costumes a bit goofy but the newer modern costumes with 1 million lines and details are not good.

Yea idk why they did it like this lol. Really dumb choice for a first impression.
Yeah the blue you can see a bit of in the original logo reveal and that’s even brighter than the legs in this photo
The color is bright, the torso is battle damaged, if you look at the chest you can see it, if you look at the legs you can see the actual blue
looks to be correct, the legs give away a softer blue than the lighting and dirt on the top suggests. still hopeful
Plus the lighting is also dark as well
It does look like new 52 (more royal blue instead of azure), which I'm personally fine with

I think the texture is really just about how I doubt like casual audiences could take anyone seriously if they looked like they were wearing pajamas, personally I would love very bright and solid colours but I can see how they wouldnt look on camera and casual audiences just wouldnt like em
Same. People actually want a super spandex looking suit? I think that would look stupid as hell on screen 😅 No one would take it seriously
Also one practical reason against the collar.. it's going to stick out from under Clark's shirt 😅. A low neckline costume is much easier to cover.
I’ve seen theories that this will be sort of a reverse Kingdom Come story. It will be about rejecting the modern “realistic”/ less hopeful superhero trajectory and by the end, David will be wearing a much more classic looking suit
The lines and collar are from the new 52. This suit is an amalgamation of different Superman suits.
Amalgamation. That word always makes me think of throw up. Like mixing everything up and regurgitating it. Just pick one. Fence sitting is a national pastime.
I was honestly expecting the line “Not to belabor the Snyder thing” to be followed by “not unlike my podcast,’belaboring the Snyder thing’ ”
It does feel slightly over designed. Like it's taken the best from all versions of costumes
I wouldn’t be shocked if this is deliberately made to resemble a more modern Superhero suit, and by the end of the movie you see him don a much more simple, iconic Superman design to parallel the rumored “reverse Kingdom Come” arc of the movie where it is very much about transitioning from that modern, edgier, militant age of heroes into a more classic, optimistic, and simple one
ironic since this suit has the KC logo.
years ago, a friend of mine described the textured look on Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man suit as "made of basketballs" and I've never been able to unsee that. It still applies here.
I’ve heard that criticism applied to the first Amazing Spider-Man suit, but never to any other Spider-Man movie suit
@@arc4859 yes, Andrew Garfield's suit is especially made of basketballs
And the reason Raimi chose the design he did for that suit is because it picked up better on camera.
But that’s just my two cents, I know I’m in the minority by a lot here
i love the new 52 inspired suit. bringing back the neck collar is a huge win.
No it’s not. New 52 is trash and all of the REAL Superman fans hate the new 52 suit
@@TrivialPawnA real fan is anyone who likes the character. That's the only requirement, no need for gatekeeping man.
My only complaint with the suit is it looks almost loose on him. Idk if that's just the ankle or its cuz he's sitting.
This movie is going to be a very introspective one, not just on the nature of the superhero but for Clark himself. Who he is, who he wants to be, how he sees himself and his own existence, what he wants the new wave of heroes in his wake to look like.
So it seems given that Gunn is going to have his exploratory innerward character arc be the main focus even moreso than his other work, and once he reaches his conclusion by the end of the film (even if not a conclusive or permanent one) it seems very likely he's going to switch to something much more simple.
looks like a what a space cop uniform would wear.
Commonly associated with villains across comic book lines, these secondary colors are also closely aligned with Green Lanterns (confirmed to be in the movie) and Lex Luther (ditto)
Meanwhile, our hero is getting dressed for work as any other person on this planet might on any given day. He’s got clear signs of many hours logged, this suit is far from fresh off the rack.
Yet… as he slips on his red boots, the scarlet shows brightly with just a glimpse of the cheerful & friendly blue of his suit-leg. A sign of his underlying purity and the hop he brings those who see his colors blur across the sky
Love the 2nd channel Nando!
Nando its time for more Marvel Snap! Come on I need to know about all these new characters like Blink, Nocturne, and Sasquatch who I don't know about!
No but thanks for the snap content, I wasn't into the game at all then I watched some of your videos to pass the time and got super into the game. Thanks for getting me into it
As a avid trunks hater for every character ever... I think it's fine.
people just cant accept that n52 looks good when there is no little devil whispering in your ears that it's not like the typical superman suit
Affleck got super jacked for BvS and they still put him in a costume with muscle padding
@@anenemystand5582it never does, the fabrics used for superhero costumes always iron out the muscular details on the human body
I'm not digging the texture either tbh-it grates against my autistic brain for some reason. I look at it and the feeling I get is simply: 'ew'. 🤷♂️
The costume looks bright af. So many people are being confused by lighting and dirt. It’s weird
I think you hit the nail on the head with ‘battle armor’; it’s meant to be a flexible but highly resistant material.
The whole shot is definitely giving Laundry Day. There’s a Superman fan film called “Laundry Day” on youtube you can look it up.
I like visions look in the mcu because he is a android specifically a synthezoid so that looks great to me
I think the best way to explain / design Clark’s costume in universe is for the Kent’s to like old strongman performances.
Controversial but I actually like the suit, Reeves suit. Whilst is super accurate and great for the time just would look a bit cheap in a £300m+ film
Every single take you’ve said in this video are the exact ones i have. I feel so seen lol
The only thing that I cannot live with is the top. It makes him look like a NASCAR driver. I expect to see logos all over the place.
I agree completely on the collar but I absolutely loved the look of the Cape and the way it attached to the suit
take the cape out, take the chest logo out and change it to a star and you got Captain America's suit lol
Giving me Monel vibes with the collar and cape
Hearing so many similar things to when THE BATMAN suit came out at first
I definitely believe that's just a suit he'll wear for most of the movie, to fit into the world that he lives in, but by the end realize he needs to be himself, and put on a more classic Superman suit to symbolize his embrace of his Kryptonian heritage and Kansas upbringing.
I think he was going for the grant Morrison cape relaxed look and I’m 90% satisfied with the look although I wish it was a little more saturated and spandexy but I think we are going to be in for a treat.
Cavills suit is the best. It's the only one that so far doesn't make me chuckle. So detailed and meaningful. Love Snyder's/cavills suit so much
Looks derivative of Snyder's. Not understanding why he's getting ready so slow when it's iconic he can get ready at superspeed.
It's becoming apparent that Gunn has gone for an image with a bunch of easter eggs, which has gone over everyone's heads. It's a shame that he didn't go for a simple reveal to start with, but I'm still hoping it all falls into place by the time the movie comes out.
Yay! Testing someone with the trunks was my comment! It’s like he’s Witnessed Me.
Perfect Suit
I think this image is darker in tone because the photographer has a specific approach to shooting on set. I think this is more about James gun giving her a platform for her very beautiful photography. I don’t know whether the colors in this the lighting is gonna be.
I can see this picture as a part of a montage of clips when they’re trying to show his everyday superheroing.
James eventually changed the guardians suits so i think he’ll take the same approach.
I'm hoping it's just dirty and that's what's muting the colors. The lower area around the knees and boots do look more vibrant.
I like the simple comic book costume designs. why cant they make the live action costumes closer to that. the scarlet witch and vision holloween costumes a bit goofy but the newer modern costumes with 1 million lines and details are not good.
It's kind of looking like that My Adventures with Superman cartoon
What are chances this is his first suit.. and he gets a newer one towards the third act 🤔
Fair
Even if this is the final suit, he'll have a new suit in his next on screen appearance. They do it with every super hero so they can sell new toys.
Point blank the Cavil suit is better.
I hope your Solaris theory is right. An evil sun is something James Gunn would use.
The superman costume is inspired by old timey bodybuilder outfits. The neckline should emphasize his chest. A high collar does not do that.
