I guess this is as close as we will ever come to knowing what it would be like for the Beatles to have had a female lead singer. McCartney's production here and of course his bass playing is pure Magic
Very insightful Andrew Devay! Put into context, these were The Beatles in their creative prime, the Apple years. Paul found the perfect voice for not only Que Sera Sera, but Goodbye and Those Were the Days. It was his vision and clout that enabled this to happen, and like any great impresario, director, etc. he communicated to Mary and all involved how he envisioned it. And we can enjoy it's beauty forever 🎶💕
I remember hearing this on the radio in the summer of 1969 at Leo Carillo Beach in North Malibu, California. I was with a cute blonde from Anchorage, Alaska, named Chris. Nothing came of it and I never saw her again but it's still a nice memory. It was a great time to be a teenager.
I have been listening to your enchanting voice since I was thirteen. My mother would sing this song to me when I was very young . Your rendition is wonderful!

It is unbelievable that you can't buy this record either on CD or mp3! What is this a world, where you can not buy music, in which Beatles-Members are involved?!?
Ringo on drums, Paul on bass, electric and acoustic guitars, recorded in august 1969, during the Abbey Road sessions. And sounds like it. I was half expecting a few "sun sun suuun here it comes" in the middle...
my father had this record, fields of saint etienne one side, this song on the other, in Argentina... My father is gone, youtube gave this memories back. I think the apple (beatles records) produced this.

Nice. And yes does sound a bit like Here Comes the Sun showing the known Beatles involvement. Mary is a bit of an enigma but thanks for sharing what you have, great talent! Just like Petula "hated" My Love, sometimes the fans know best, and THIS is indeed GREAT TY!

I used to enjoy this when I was a teen. Now I share Ms. Hopkin's disdain of it - the McCartney-superimposed chorus just doesn't fit the song! Poor Mary.
I just listened to the original, Doris. Cool song. Simple, but philosophical. That addition sounds more like a bridge than chorus. It detracts attention from the chorus que sera, sera, I think, there is something true that the bridge somehow detracts from the idea. If that Mary Hopkin criticised McCartney’s version, then she had talent, had some understanding that something was wrong. Yeah, not everything what sounds beatlish will suit the source material great. I think, she felt that there is something wrong. Good for her.

The entire Postcard album is very Beatles sounding, specially Mary's cover of TheHoneymoon Song. It's a good companion piece to the White Album.
And Ringo is on drums too
George on guitar

If she disliked this recording that is so sad. It is fantastic, Great lyrics and she has the voice of an angel!
Plus, you can do a lot worse than having Paul and Ringo as your backup band. :) I agree; for disliking this song, she performed it magnificently!

I bought this because I'm a Beatles fan and it features Paul and Ringo but, that aside, it's a great version of the song, beautifully sung by Mary.

Very nice version
The arrangement sounds just like Here Comes The Sun, the drums in particular.
Same drum set, same drummer, same tuning for the drums. I don't even know if it was a different month they got this done
Another Day was probably born from this arrangement.

It sounds very much like Beatles Macca arrangements... I think Paul is playing bass guitar here. I like it of course :-)
TheRunner75 I ve read somewhere that both Paul and Ring appeared on the record, anyway Paul produced it! :-)
+Bent Haaland It is indeed Ringo on drums.
Ringo's bright drums, George's light string guitar play and just the BASS by Paul. Moreover the sung by Mary, this is great!!!!!!
Paul on guitar, George was not present.
