- Last season many were let down by the anime adaptation of "The Promised Neverland Season 2" by Studio CloverWorks. The Author of the series and some higher ups wanted to change it and CloverWorks had no choice. However it seems like CloverWorks called in the main talent to produce "Shadows House" Episode 1. The Victorian Gothic Art Style is pleasing to the eyes and also creepy. Its possible the Staff sacrificed TPN S2 for this anime adaptation.

You realise even the manga was shit right? The anime tried to save that pile of shit and they failed full metal brotherhood all they did was be accurate to the manga if promised neverland do that it won’t change the fact that the series is shit

I mean CloverWorks have also done Wonder egg priority which is a banger and Horimiyia on which I heard many praise last season, so it's not like the did only the Power Point season 2...
Well I hope they do justice to Shadows House coz the manga is straight up amazing.
the only banger was wep tbh. if you read horimiya's manga, it was an awful adaptation, especially with the story pacing and the flow of the story, it was all over the place.
@@greenranger5572 I haven't read nor watched Horimiyia because it's not my type of show, so I'm only going by hearsay and I heard only pretty good feedback, though Im not the most qualified to evaluate how accurate they are.
@@greenranger5572 Wonder Egg Priority is good, but I feel the tone change and the revelations in the last couple of episodes kind off dropped the structure of the series and took it all over the place. Hopefully the last episode (which they said would be about 30 min long), will fix the "problems" this issues.
@@Yudaisei0 Latest episode was kinda lackluster, I'll give you that. I feel some many series would've ended better without that 12 or 13 eps format. Well another reason to like split cores as it gives more time for the anime ton unfold its story.
@@greenranger5572 the manga was "bad" to begin with. The first 20/30 chapters were very solid with hori & miya relationship develoment. But after 50 ish chapters the story goes full slice of life - comedy "side stories". They want to make a solid romcom with hori & miya as the focus, but its hard when the source material full of side stories after a certain point. If there's any season 2 it most likely will flop as theres almost no development.
I don't think it was this series that made TPN a sacrifice i think it was Wonder Egg Priority as that came out the same time and the animation and quality of that series is ridiculously good
A completely different team made WEP. In fact, it was a team of freelancers so like. It didn't impact TPN at all.

I love the portrayal of our MC, she a standard "virgin Mary that can do no wrong" but the story test her so much, the "almost relapse" was so excellent, she almost made it on my top 3 female leads; Alita (Battle Angel Alita), Revy (Black Lagoon) and Jolyne (Jojo Part 6)

This anime and manga is just my cup of tea, it has this sinister, mysterious elegant vibe, no heavy stuff, good characters (READY FOR KATE SUPREMACY) and gets more entertaining as the chapters go on

It reminds me a lot of Tim Burton’s films. They’re dark, macabre, eerie, and creepy but have that sort of childlike innocence within them. That’s this anime for now, I don’t know if it gets dark and I don’t want to know, but yeah very interested.
Too bad the author of TPN failed to realized how smart the audience are. They can still get free manga by just borrowing the volumes at the local library.
Or just send them a link on a discreet Discord server on a hard to find website or really just use anything that can support PDF lol, download it on their computer, and if it gets taken down just reupload it somewhere else, piracy can't be stopped that easily unless you basically breach other people's privacy which is illegal.
It's was not the author's fault of the bad adaptation of TPN but it the director of the anime's fault, he was the one that wanted to make changes and he said that in an interview when season 1 of tpn ended, the author couldn't do anything cause the studio brought the rights of tpn

Me thinking that TPN S2 was sacrificed due to Wonder Egg because it was their priority.
So glad this anime is getting the praise it deserves! I was so afraid that it would just get completely overshadowed (pun not intended) by the other shows this season. And I can say that, so long as the anime stays true to the manga, it's just gonna keep getting better and more interesting!

I was really intrigued by the first episode, a bit slow but really sets up the main characters and the world. I am left with so many questions about the world and I am excited to find out. I as well love these kinds of concepts so I am definitely keeping an eye out.
The only thing I would say is that the series is a slow burn. The manga at the moment has 95 chapters, with I would say half questions I had about the setting and story being answered, and at the same time the series has kept the mystery vibe, which I like (even when I do not really enjoy slow burns). Also this may be irrelevant, but the manga is one of the very few which if you read it online has all the chapters colorized in full color.
It's still setting up the relationship between the two, because these are our main characters. Don't worry though, if you want a solid plot, it will come.
It's easily the dark horse of the season. One of the most unique premises I have ever seen

Shadows house has such a cool concept, I stumbled upon it when only 2 episodes were released and now i just impatiently wait for the new episodes to release every week. I love it
I knew as soon as I watched the trailer that this anime would be somehow interesting. Not just moeblob but actually a slice of life mystery where although it's a series that shows the characters living their day to day life it also gives you a sense of not quite knowing what's going on and consequently trying to discover how the world works, I think it's a perfect way to hook your audience.

Emilikyo is supposed ot be Kate's "face" but to me, and I think it's also thanks to Kate who wanted Emilikyo to be an individual, I feel Emilikyo's "face" is wrong as Kate's "face". Ricky and Patrick, Louise and Lou, John and Shawn etc, I see them with "their face" but never Emilikyo and Kate.

I think that Promised Neverland S2 was sacrificed in part for Wonder Egg Priority, as both were made by Cloverworks. Add in the fact they were also animating Horimiya at the same time as well.
They were all handled by different teams so it’s not like resources from TPN were poured into the other two. Unfortunately most fans (chibi included) don’t understand this and misinformation (like anime seasons being sacrificed for another) gets spread
@@ryux7063 Different teams is a huge part though. For an anime studio working on three projects at the same time, which project gets the A team and which the B team and then the straggler the C team. Granted, you would want to keep a balance if at all possible, but in some cases you want your absolute best on a certain project. And I think this was just such a case.
@@jimmeier547 That’s not how it works in this case though? Animation producers gather staff for the projects. Wonder Egg priority was strong because it’s animation producer is ambitious and very well connected. Horimiya’s animation producer doesn’t have the same luck but it does have a brilliant director and their conservative approach worked well with the show’s schedule for the most part. Even in season 1, Neverland never had a strong team (which can attributed to the fact that it had the same animation producer as FGO and that was a bigger priority) but it did have a small team with a few aces doing a lot of work. Season 2 didn’t have its aces from season 1 but that has nothing to do with wonder egg as they simply just left to work elsewhere (outside of the studio). But besides that, not much changed (aside from them getting new aces). It’s pretty much the same strong Director from s1. What messed up neverland’s production was the terrible schedule (which is not the fault of wonder egg or horimiya). Terrible to the point that one of their aces doesn’t even want to take credit for his work because he wasn’t proud of it. Then there’s also the obvious fact that both wonder egg and horimiya have nothing to do with TPN’s writing.
I wonder if anyone here remembers Pandora Hearts... It was my favorite, but I hardly anyone makes reviews on it so I don't know if it's a good series or not for the critics, but I honestly loved it and kinda wished that there was a reboot based exactly on the mangas...
Same. With the creator's newer series getting an anime, that gives me hope that we'll get a reboot of Pandora Hearts someday! The anime we do have has one of my favorite soundtracks in anime. I think it is Yuki Kajuria's best soundtrack that I've heard of hers( because I haven't watched every show she composed for), but it's under the radar because the anime is.

I read the manga ages ago and I was surprised that it got an anime! It's a really fun mysterious ride imo, the world-building and flow of this story were so goooood, I'm happy that this series is finally getting attention! I'll probably binge-watch the anime later tho xD I haven't watched anime in a while, but this might bring me back cuz I'm curious how well they will adapt this

Shadows house is honestly just getting better and better every episode. The beauty of this animation with the creepy-ness is just amazing visually, and it really surprised me how amazing it is. Frankly I love cloverworks, they totally fucked over our favorite PowerPoint presentation but they have some amazing works.
Oh it started, I've actually been waiting for this but wasn't sure when it was going to start. Something about the animation really caught my attention

I enjoyed this episode a lot. It was a nice introduction to our main characters, their personalities and how the 2 interact. OST uses were also great and ReoNa delivered with the ED like usual.
It might be one of my favorite endings of Slice-of-Life anime that I've watched.
Chibi, I just watched the second episode but Dragon Goes House Hunting is an adorably funny anime for this season with a lot of Easter egg type jokes that make it endearing.
There were so many comments I saw in TPN's comment sections about how Shadow House is a better TPN grace field arc but just that arc as the entire manga. If this first episode was any indication, it might live up to that hype.
Since the children in Shadows House aren't planning to escape the manor (it's impossible for them) unlike the orphans in TPN.
HOPEFULLY this one turns out better than TPN S2. Looks really promising!
I'm a Promised Neverland reader but I didn't watch the second season. I went to look what happened and man... WHAT THE ACTUAL F? I can't believe they messed up so bad tha manga. This is even worse than what they did with Tokyo Ghoul.
I liked episode 1 so much, i'm already on chapter 57 of the manga (95are out in total at the moment). Plot progresses smoothly, there are quite good twists, some big questions get answered. It doesn't drag forever for the plot to progress. In other words, it's a delight!
Also, that ED! Best of the season!

Somato is a fantastic author, I do recommend the first manga "Kuro", only 3 volumes and a perfectly well told self contained mistery story that's very simple yet deep

Thank you for pointing out that the workers for a studio are generally not to blame for an anime project having major problems. I'm disgusted by how horribly the staff is often overworked. An overworking and taking advantage of employees culture is unfortunately a major problem in Japan across the workforce in general. People have literally died over there by overworking at a desk. So this makes it even more horrible when studio staff are harassed by the public because of issues that likely they weren't even responsible for.
Whooot! Shout out for Rozen Maiden and Gosick. I am a big Suigintou fan. I also love the Victorian style.

I put off neverland for the longest time. Decided to watch s1 & 2 finally. Now there's a choice I regret.
Thankfully, the promised Neverland manga got finished and was amazing. The first season of the anime was amazing, but they went anime only for the second season. Hopefully; the show gets a reboot later or maybe it just lives in manga fame for the rest of time.
The problem wasn't completely that it went anime original. It was that it was done poorly. I would be fine with the creator using some alternate story ideas they had, but they just had to go all the way with it. There were some interesting anime original concepts, but it was all just so rushed. A problem with the manga was that it still feels incomplete; that some plot points that were set up were abandoned and not completely explained. Instead of using the anime to fill in the those gaps, they made anime original content that had even worse gaps in the story than the manga did.
Happy someone remembers Rosen Maiden! It did give me those vibes and I love it so far!
