Mark, I’ve used a natural beeswax on my leather boots and shoes and even leather jackets, gloves etc for years, much better than Dubbin...and by the way, there’s no G in Dubbin! I rarely use water either, preferring to baby wipes, yes, baby wipes! Just let your muddy boots dry off and knock off the dry mud and give them a good rub with a dry, stiff shoe brush or nail brush to get the majority off. Then comes the baby wipes....They clean leather produces really well and they are kind enough for babies skin and have moisturisers in them too. Another little tip for when your bikes boots or work boots etc is...when they start to get a bit ‘funky’ on the nose or preferably before they get too funky. Chuck inside a couple of those anti-static/scented tissue things made for put in the tumble dryer with your clothes.
They’ll stay as fresh as a daisy and you can even get away with leaving a sheet in the bottom of the boot when you’re wearing them on a long ride. 👍
    Regards,
    Dazza. 🇬🇧

Hi Mark, I used dubbing for years but now use beeswax on my TCX boots, it seems to get into the leather better stopping it from drying out and keeping it waterproof.

Hi Mark, I am interested in this because I purchased a pair of Forma Adventurer low boots about a month ago
Mine are brown and the first thing I did was give them a coat of Dubbin. Made them go quite a bit darker
Was told when I bought them that those adjustable straps can be purchased separately if you need replacements
Very comfortable, but took a while to get used to using the rear brake and the gear lever after using different boots
Forma boots are made in Romania and very well made too.

I have a new.paor also I used a waterproofing spray....give it a coat let it dry then give it another coat. Couldn't be easier, You can always conditoon the leather later after you.have broken them in.

Hello Mark YES for the Dubbing! I have used it for years on my riding boots, no drama Dubbing is made for Leather, does not seal the leather, just keeps them fit and proper....no water.... Another bloody video....Make sure you rest up...LOL....David...Adelaide Tiger 900GT FIRST! LOL

What a out simple traditional black shoe polish you get in those leather cans with an applicator and buffing brush, just like shining any leather shoes

Ok I reckon the term should be dubbin-ing. I'm so old school I still treat all my leather jackets twice yearly on a sunny day and the waxed cotton gear even gets treated occasionally too. Dubbing sounds so wrong. Great video. I finally wore my pair of these exact boots even though I have had them for 2 years. Nice and light. I'm not too sure on how crash-worthy they are but they seem like reasonable quality. The only gripe is the toe box is very tall even compared to my bmw gs mx boots. Makes setting the gear lever height a pain when you have lots of different footwear.

Crickey Mark! Nay must be following you around full-time, carrying an extra large fire extinguisher. "Camp Stove Canisters & Adaptors", heater mishaps, it's a wonder you've still got ya hair, eyebrows and even a shed to stand in! 🔥

Beeswax, same as normal work boots, when going to the Aggy shows and getting that free trial of the product in motion and walking about for a while and getting the other one done with another watch, got almost 15 years on one pair... wore throw the sole.

Nikwax, Pure Beeswax or lastly Dubbin. I have used all three, Dubbin is the most traditional (old fashioned)
Nikwax would be my go to, I use it on my boots, shoes and camping gear. It's available as a liquid and "gunge", I like both.
The issue with modern boots is goretex, cambrelle etc not being able to breathe as you pointed out.
Though for the amount of rain you get and the heat they are exposed to, dunno mate lol.
I would go liquid Nikwax and not gunge, deffo not Dubbin.
This is from perspective of wet cold UK so take this all with a pinch...
How is your arm now after your tumble are you fixed? All best 👍

I have the same boots and use Nikwax conditioner for leather on my boots.
I wouldn't advise using Dubbin as this will soften the boot leather and it will loose some of is mechanical protection.

Mark, saddle soap is another good leather cleaner & conditioner.

  • @JobbazIdeaz
    @JobbazIdeaz 2 роки тому +1

Just make sure you use a leather conditioner that has no petroleum based oil products in it. Read the ingredients. If it's not good enough to put on your own skin, you shouldn't be putting it on your leather either. Sounds cliche I know but you're feeding the leather to restore it's natural properties, one of which is water resistance.

I'm kinda disappointed in these boots, they leaked in about 5th ride... and it was pretty painful when my 160kg bike dropped on my foot(not really dropped even, just gently rolled with the rear wheel on a steep climb).
Good grip on dirt though, and pretty comfortable.
Never cleaned them from summer(underneath all that dirt there is just cheap boot wax)...

There adventure boots ment for paved roadways and some light trails but if your riding hard motocross type trails a firmer none maliable boot is recommended. The trade off is the comfort tou will give up but it will keep your feet, ankels and shins free of injuries.
