BurgerWorld is one of the most enjoyable pointbreaks in Indonesia and breaks every week during Shoulder-Season. During In-Season, the rare day at BurgerWorld results in super fun surf but super frustrating crowds. During Nov-Feb, the majority of surfing resorts and charter boats shut down but BurgerWorld is still there and breaks almost every week.
Don't make the mistake of visiting the Mentawais during the wrong time of the year for what you're after. Shoulder-Season (Nov-Feb) is a great time to score fun size rights (shoulder high to overhead), mostly rights and less people. We are all spoiled by watching pros absolutely rip on waves. This guy is one of us, a normal guy that surfs probably better than most. All of you saying he doesn't, I would like to see how you look on this wave. He is doing more than I would be doing on those waves. And at the same time he is down to earth enough to make me hungry to be out there and paint my colors on that beautiful wave.
Well, it’s enjoyable for the bloke taking all the waves.
Crazy. I was out there this session, the last boat in the area when Covid hit. How time flies.
FANTASTIC LOOKING BREAK, AS AWSOME IN BEAUTY AS PLACES LIKE, MIDDLE OF THE BAY, HANALEI, OR MAKAHA OR HONOLUA BAY OR MATANCHEN BAY (SAN BLAS, MX), WHEN IT RARELY DOES BREAK WITH GOOD WAVES. WHAT INTERESTED ME, COVID BARELY DID ANYTHING TO ANY HEALTHY YOUNG PEOPLE. IT MAINLY GOT OLDER, OLD SURFERS LIKE ME. OR PEOPLE IN POOR MEDICAL HEALTH. OPPOSITE OF THE SPANISH FLU, WHICH ODDLY SEEMED TO AFFECT YOUNG PEOPLE WHO WERE HEALTHY, AS MUCH AS PEOPLE WITH MEDICAL ISSUES. SORRY YOUR SURF TRIP ENDED THAT WAY.

Stupid question:why is it called Burgerworld?
Wasn't that the fake restaurant that Beavis & Butt-Head worked at? It could be all the flesh left on the reef over the years,but honestly that shoulder looked pretty forgiving.Maybe on big days it gets alot more hollow and painful
Great question. BurgerWorld gets it's name when the wave has too much swell and is too big and it turns into a mush burger. It's super rare to get this wave good during In-Season (March-Oct) since once the wave is too big, it's super mushy. During Shoulder-Season (Nov-Feb), once the waves turn a bit smaller, it works every week and throw in less people due to most resort and charter boats not operating, it's a dream point break.
@@KanduiResort I'm 39 now, probably only got a few good years of surfing left. But I was in Indo in '98 at 17. I might have had access to multiple ,incredible waves,but Suharto was still in power than and we were much more concerned for our skins.People don't understand today the risks guys were taking finding these spots when walking thru a street in Jakarta or anywhere really,could mean your life. The outside world didn't much notice this, but Christians/Dutch were getting beat up in the streets every day, and the cops were indifferent.
Now here I am at 39,my surfing days kinda winding down,and all I wanna do is surf one solid wave in the Mentawais before I die.
