    It took me 35 years to understand what personalities were and what type I am (INFJ-T) I am 37 years old today. So you can imagine for 35 years I did not know who I was and let people tell me everything they thought was wrong with me (including doctors) and I believed them. At 35 when I found out who I was, I realized I really don't have any psychological issues. I am finally happy to be me and understand why I do things I do. I wouldn't change who I am for the world. Thanks guys!

      I experienced the same thing, I thought I had bipolar but since I learned I was INFJ I have been empowered, stop taking pills 5 years ago and have not been depressed or anything the whole time, hah feels good but it's still tough being INFJ for other reasons 😂

    I discovered I was an INFJ decades ago. Over the years I would take a test to see if anything had “changed”…But it always returned the same result - INFJ.
    I’m now in my 60s, exhausted by life, totally hurt and let down by the last person I ever thought it would happen with.
    In my state of mind, I couldn’t imagine being able to focus on making sense of anything on this video enough to apply it to myself even as a refresher.
    So, when the invitation was made to go to the website, I did. It’s been so many years since took a Myers Briggs type test. I don’t feel like myself in any way right now so I was certain if took the test I would get a wacky result. But I was stunned to see that the results were INFJ! That is amazing to me! Hey, I’m still in here…yea me! 🥳❤️

      I could have written everything you just wrote. I'm 60, have taken the M/B test multiple times throughout the last 25 years, and always get INFJ, and YES, I, too, am TOTALLY exhausted by life. I'm wondering if you're my doppelganger.

    It’s difficult to be in the head of an INFJ, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I’m 37 and I sent my mom a video on INFJ to better understand me even after all these years. It explains me perfectly! Thank you!

    Related to so much of this ... though as an INFJ with two kids who never stop making noise or expressing needs, my experience is there is no amount of Ni-ing that can keep the battery charged.
    Physically leave for a half hour (dog walks are a great excuse). Buy noise canceling headphones. Be fully present 80% of the time you are home rather than hitting the point where you are partially present and struggling to find your way back.
    It's hard for Fe to give yourself permission unless someone else is giving it first ... but I eventually realized my kids aren't going to remember that 20% I take for myself anyway ... so maximizing what I can give the other 80% is what really matters.

    I LOVE this INFJ interview. He starts off so Fe, and so clearly in his own beautiful world, then (as you guys remind him to talk about his history & himself... not fun for an INFJ!) he starts to open up a bit more. Clearly a very intelligent fella. Thank you Gary, Joel & Antonia!

      I'm old and probably a bit grouchy. The INFJ speaker here seems exceedingly cheery and excitable.
      I expect he is/was an excellent teacher and very giving of his efforts. All good.
      I am thinking the speaker has a slightly effeminate nature that is slightly off-putting. He seems overly pleased with himself.
      As an INFJ-A, I don't identify with his bubbly persona.
      This likely says more about me that the speaker.

    The primary!!! function of this type is introverted intuition. They're speaking from the realm of intuition, where they primarily reside as default, Not thinking, and Not feeling. But from the world of the sixth sense, beyond the five senses. When you hear someone speak from that condition it has a specific, recognizable "hum."
    Its usually a soothing, "mellifluous" vocal tone and can have a calming effect on listeners, overall. Generally speaking, in essence. Yes, they can be amped up, but always, always fall back to chilled out, laid back, "sleepy" etc energy. This is a swing and a miss for me, guys? I share to save others from being mislead while struggling to find their way, which is so difficult and energy consuming. No offense. Appreciate your other infj video, it's great thank you. Not trying to be controversial or contentious.

    • @Shinkyogan
      @Shinkyogan Рік тому +1

      It's a swing and a bigger miss for me...why? He comes across as someone that is trying to NOT be an INFJ(or not proud of it...almost as if he is ashamed of it and trying to find out ways to NOT be one to the outside world) but an altered version of it. Basically, seems like u just interviewed another personality type trying to pose as an INFJ...being an INFJ is not something u decide or "choose" to be whenever... Its who u are...24/7.

    • @stevepeterson5943
      @stevepeterson5943 Рік тому

      @@Shinkyogan yeah, agree. To your last point I've described my type not as a collection of processes, but as a "condition."

    Personally not a fan of the INFJ represented in this podcast. When trying to establish a connection with his different personality types that he previously had to his current one now, it felt off. I found out im an INFJ when taking the test & it immediately answered why & the way I am. His connection didn't feel natural & could've been altered by internal biases for wanting something different. Maybe he is a true INFJ, idk but this is the first infj encounter where I felt skeptical

    Have never tested as anything but INFJ. So it's definitely my personality type. The more I learn, the more I want to cry...it's like, there's finally an explanation that makes sense. Finally, I'm making sense to myself; the puzzle is becoming the picture of what IS.

    "I love my plans" - Gary
    Whew, I identify with that so so much.. I initially tested out as INTP and INTJ as well.. but the coldness/analytical/architect portion of the T never did vibe with the Fe flame 🔥 burning inside me.

    I'm 48 and just learning about INFJ. I love listening to conversations and learning something new.
    Your story about falling asleep on the stairs from being so drained. I never put that together before in my own life when I have to be "on" at work all day vs just being able to focus on my work in solitude.
    It's great finally knowing that there's nothing "wrong" with me, just very uniquely right and I can finally, boldly follow my intuitions. 💙

    As an INFJ male I can resonate, I also thought I was somewhat a thinker type because of how my inner world can operate, but I've always tested INFJ. Funny enough, my first test was also in middle school, however, it was facilitated by a counselor rather than online. I think I was fairly in touch with my feeling side from early on because I was nurtured to respect & embrace it as natural. Perhaps if my parents were not so accepting I would have had more a difficult time with it, & my self awareness would have caused different results in my MBTI testing.

    Absolutely! Beyond prepared!! When we have the time and pertinent information to run our simulations, we can handle anything. We break down and question ourselves (and reality) when something does not follow one of our simulations.

    As an infj I can’t imagine being a school teacher. I know it would drain me too much. However I can see if it’s his passion and he has experience and a love for it that it would be a labor of love. I enjoy teaching as well but I get too frustrated and I need downtime.

  • @Richard-zm6pt

    I understand what he says about stepping consciously or deliberately into the Fe space for a purpose. I'm also a teacher and do that myself; however, listening to him, I think he goes in 100% whereas I may only approach 75% on a good excursion. If I went as far as he, I'd feel ungenuine. To help another person engage and find enthusiasm for a subject or come out of a funk, I'd go as far as I could manage, though. He sounds very energetic, almost bubbly, which I'm sure I've never achieved. LOL

    The optimistic 10 year old (child) gets developed before the pessimistic 13 year old (parent) function. So it's not surprising he thought he was a thinker until he finally started developing Fe parent.
