Bigg's Killer Whales Visit Burrard Inlet

  • It's not every day that a group of killer whales swim past your office window, especially when the view includes the developed northern shore of Vancouver's harbour. But that is precisely what happened on Friday, June 14 when a group of seven killer whales ventured into the Burrard Inlet and swam past the seawall in front of the Vancouver Aquarium.

    It drives me crazy! I've lived in the Vancouver area since birth, spending countless hours along the waterfront. I've taken hundreds of ferry rides along the south coast... never have I seen an orca or a harbor porpoise. Grrr!

    That SUCKS! In the 80's it was a regular sighting and I have seen many from the ferries in the 80's, they slowed down in the early 90's maybe Expo scared them off... who knows
