- How to polish a knife?
In this video I show how I polish my Case knives. With a drill press, cloth wheel and flitz polish or turtle wax polish.

Keep your knives sharp!
Good to know.😊
I asked a week ago for this video and am so pleased you responded. They are beautiful and now I know why. Thank you for another very informative video.

Way cool.
@@theprestriedge4657 thank you
@ Yes Sir.
Very nice! Don't have a press so I just do it the old fashioned way with microfiber cloth. Thanks for showing us man! Looks really good!🙂👍🏻

Great video . Yes i have that exact sowbelly kentucky bluegrass bone the main blade has stroger action than the other 2.
@@joeloaskie780 cool 😎 thanks man 👍🏻
You got that knife sure looking pretty.
Thank you Rusty!
Yes it’s true about the snap it kept me from buying it I was gonna get the 5 blade silver script today and passed all because of the snap
@@RAZORRESULTSenjoythecut The springs look identical, I wonder if it has to do with the geometry of the sheepsfoot and spey blade tang? 👍🏻😎
@ I thinks so it’s a very light pull unsatisfying for a case guy such as my haha , I’ve been handling the vintage case xx and I can tell very easily that it’s just not the same but nevertheless nice video!! The polishing process you use has greater outcome than hand polish.
@RAZORRESULTSenjoythecut Thanks for watching and for commenting 👍🏻
Hey. I'll give you a very precise answer. The clip spring on the Large Stockman is weaker. The clip spring on my Mini Trappers is stronger or sometimes equally strong. On my Medium Stockman, they are all equally strong. On my Copperhead, the pen spring is slightly stronger. And on my large Trapper, the Spey spring is a touch stronger. I'd say it's all a coincidence.
@@WZ13 it might be. What made me wonder is that every sow belly I've ever seen is identical in that regard 😎
@@NewAgainKnifeReviews You would have to know someone who works there. Maybe that's the way it is with that type of knife. But I don't think so. Why would it be like that? Coincidence.
@WZ13 I wonder if it has something to do with the way that the sheep's foot blade rides so high, if the geometry changes the spring tension?
@ I would like to know where the spring tension comes from. The geometry of the blade or the curvature of the back spring.
@WZ13 I think both play a part. There is a slight difference between "tension" how much force it takes to close the knife. And "closing snap" how hard/fast the blade closes.
I think the shape of the tang can really affect closing snap
I find Flitz works best for my knives and also gun parts. My method of polishing is the same as yours but I use a bench grinder with a cloth wheel, but a drill press is a good alternative as well. Thanks for sharing. What oil do you use to lubricate your knives? I typically use mineral oil as I often use my knifes with food. Thanks,
@@swkohnle08 Mineral oil or 3 in 1 oil 😎✔️
Awesome video, sir. Do you find pinching the boltsters down tighter improves the spring strength at all in your experience?
@@Lunarpreparedness I have never noticed one way of the other. I figured it would be more likely to hinder snap because of the blade being held tighter?
What do you think?
@NewAgainKnifeReviews so, I clamped the bolsters down on a couple Rough Ryder knives and one Case Trapper because of blade wobble, and in all three instances, it noticeably improved the snap. But none of these were stockman patterns.
@Lunarpreparedness cool, I wonder why that helps?
@@NewAgainKnifeReviews I too 🤔
By the way, you're heading straight towards 600.
@@WZ13 sounds good, I'm surprised we've made it this far
I dont collect knives all of mine are users so they dont look pretty like yours do. So i dont have a massive collection.
@@madtownangler I use 95% of mine. I just polish them a lot👍🏻👍🏻😎👍🏻👍🏻
