I’m so glad. Hope you had a great trip! We were up that way at the end of spring break. And ate breakfast at the Desoto State park lodge. They have a great all you can eat breakfast

We use to camp there two weekends per month during the winter, but in the renovation they put up sodium vapor lights that stay on all night, like a Walmart parking lot. Couldn't sleep, so we found some other campgrounds where we could watch the stars.

We were fortunate as the sites we have had were much darker and not near the lights.

The sodium vapor lights keep me up all night. We found another campground, more secluded and dark sky, no city light either.

We do prefer the less lit campgrounds. However, we still enjoy Desoto. Try Tranquility camp ground it’s not far from Desoto state park and it is super dark at night and very quite

There is not a lake at Desoto State Park. Hover, lots for creeks off the walking trails.

Why can't they turn of the sodium vapor lights at 9 PM, so we can star gaze and use our telescope.
