I would love to see one of these videos where the Normals plan their dishes and assemble the bag and then Ebbers has to make the three dishes with no planning; I feel like that would be closer to us other normals buying whatever we think we'll need and then trying to figure out how to best use the stuff we would usually buy.
Great idea
"normal" - should be in quotations ;p
The"normal" that isn't cooking does the shopping and everyone goes in blind much fairer
@@h7opolo
Yeah calling these guys normals at this point is kind of silly. Their entire lives and livelihoods have revolved around food and cooking for a decade at this point. There is nothing normal about that.
@@Rowgue51 At the same time they are not that far ahead of anyone that spent 10-20 years home cooking from a variety of cook books and other inspirations.
I've definitely made plenty of "flat bread of sorts with random stuff on top" the day before shopping. 😂
You and us both!
I call this "bachelor cooking." Where you just want to eat, but all you have on hand are leftovers. You just bash something together and call it good.
And sometimes it *IS* good, and other times it's just calories to keep you alive. ^-^
My version uses puff pastry. Essentially I wrap whatever I have leftover in puff pastry. My theory with leftovers, when in doubt, pastry it out! 😊 Works 99% of the time. Even with more liquidy dishes, I thicken those up with instant mash potatoes.
I feel like the mushrooms would've looked a lot more normal if he'd put three halves instead of one and a half. Same amount but looks more planned
Can’t argue with this! 👏
Exactly my thought. If the problem is presentation, change the presentation.
Kinda feel like six quarters arranged around the plate might work even better, but definitely three halves over one and a half.
its a non issue, this is mid week meals at home, not something youre serving in a restaurant. if someone in your family complains about something so petty, you show them the door.
@@iris4547 I'd agree, but they commented on it being odd.
The kiss was adorable 🥰
Most all the interactions between them are adorable, love their healthy relationships!
Cringe lonely shippers inbound
Yay ebbers has bought back the 'sorted' catchphrase
I really want to know why Mike dislikes him saying it so much
@@SteelcryoI think it's more of a matter that he knows that Ben's role in this vid is to challenge him and Jay, but to also show us at home how Sidekick is great, because of the quality of the recipes/dishes you make. It's the implication of each of the dishes being "so much better" than what Mike and Jay made that somewhat irks him, and Ben saying "Sorted!" after each of _his_ 3 dishes is like insult to injury to Mike.
It isn't really a matter of "the normals screw up 3 dishes, and the cooks show how it's done" anymore, but it definitely _was_ at one point, and Mike still wants to be better than he is now, (i.e. how good Ben *is* right now.) He's obviously not really upset, or hating it, more like he wants to be better and can joke with himself (and everyone else) how big the gap is between the normals and the trained chefs.
@@JaySay I think you're looking into it a bit too deeply.
It's because it's a lame catchphrase that's a dorky nod to the channel name. It's just a tiny bit embarrassing.
Probably reminds him of when they were just starting out with the channel.
@@ori-yorudan Oh, no totally. I was more-so over explaining how I feel Mike actually doesn't dislike it. Just saying it as a gag.
It's so dorky and I love that!
Could you imagine the normals being able to do this ten years ago?? Always so impressed how far they’ve come ❤
absolutely!! Fanatastic amount of both knowledge & skills BUT international and cultural traditions!
Same! You can tell they’ve learned so much. These days they often win challenges against the chefs because they’re at such a high level of cooking ability. Obviously they have the food team coming up with recipes for them but they’ve now learned the skills to be able to do them justice.
They are definitely better than most “chefs” in middle of the level restaurants I would say.
I don't think they should be allowed to be called normal anymore haha
Yeah technically not normals anymore. So obvious when they pretend to be dumb.. Miss the good old days...
"the blue tick does wonders" EBBERS 😂
I would love to see the guys do a "yellow sticker" or clearance food challenge. It would be great to see your take on using commonly discounted food. I feel like it would help with your ethos about lowering food waste and helping people save money. Also to not just clear a clearance section which other people may use/rely on, you could always see what is discounted and then buy the full priced units on the shelf.
Yes. I would like this as well.
that is great idea!
Oooh that's a good idea! It will be lots of "fresh" stuff not so fresh anymore: veggies, bread, dairy, meats, pre-mades...
BTW some of he properties of ingredients are different fresh vs clearance so if they buy them fresh, they need to wait around a couple days. Think of a fresh bread with crispy crust and fluffy inside vs chewy/hard crust and dry inside... french toast from a fresh bread becomes soggy easily while stale bread becomes delicious😋
Mike and Jamie start talking about flavor bombs and portion control and Ben starts talking about blue ticks. Another decade on and we won't know who's a normal and who's a chef 😄😄😄😄
Pretty sure they'll all pretty much be chefs by then!
Jamie and Mike did a fantastic job! And I loved Ben saying “sorted”!
Brought it back to the older vids
5:16 The sheer despair in spaff's voice is only comparable to the times he forgot to push play on the oven😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
That was a funny moment 😆
@@SortedFood Yep! 🤣🤣
So its like the reverse Barry.
I was actually excited about the harissa flatbread until he did that
I don't understand why they couldn't just divide the salad into 6 small bowls for each portion of each recipe. Whacking it all on top of two pork flat breads seems lazy and semi-ruining a dish.
Well done! They all look delicious!
I’ve missed the tag line…Sorted…after completing the dish. 😊
I also miss fridge cam & Butt First! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Yeah, made me feel some sweet nostalgia 😂
Dad jokes in the Fridge Cam!!
Ebbers made the same things as Jamie and Mike. Personally, I prefer the pizza.
Okay, those cheek kisses were the sweetest thing! I just adore the true friendship that runs between you all and for me that is why I watch!
Imagine Ben sliding into your DMs while both of you are midweek cooking 😂
The thing to take in from watching Ben work, is how militant he is with cleaning down. The best advice I received, from one of the best chefs in the country was 'tidy as you go'.
Another amazing episode! Dream episode is Buzzed/drunk chefs remote control Sober Normals. Would be hilarious with James and Kush and Ben controlling the boys.
Love you all at Sorted
That sounds awesome!
Well it just seems rude for them to deny you your dream episode!!! ( I will say though that they would have to get Ben TRASHED to turn off his perfectionist brain )
@@ButyoucancallmeKatBarry’s Banging Broiche is as close as I’ve seen and it’s one of my favorite videos
How does Mike dumping that salad on the pizza seem like a Jamie thing to do and yet at the same time Jamie would never do that? 🤣
LOVED the "sorted" coming back, made me smile with nostalgia!
the smile i have everytime ben says sorted after a dish omg hitting my nostalgia huh ebbers? hahahaha
I recently downloaded Sidekick and it’s genuinely made my life so much easier. I’m a good home cook but when it comes to the quick midweek meals I had run out of inspiration for things that were interesting yet didn’t take hours.
I love how much money it’s saved me already, the lack of food waste is incredible and the meals are absolutely delicious.
As someone with ADHD who struggles to plan, and easily gets bored (like Jamie!) this just takes all the thinking out of it. I just buy what it tells me to buy and then cook it step by step, but with the boredom of making and eating the same things week in week out. Thank you so much guys!
100% agree
"I'm going to cover my pork sword in honey and dijon mustard" ...normal for British..
As an American...LOL!!!
Is a tenderloin really called that over there?
@@Mrbink01 No, Jamie knows exaclty what "pork sword" means :)
It was quite heartwarming to watch the boys excitedly high-five over Ebbers while he was swallowing Jamie's pork sword.
Love this series! Can we please have more vegetarian meals? 🌶🫑🥬🥦
You’re probably sick of hearing it but it’s easy enough to sub out the proteins in most dishes for alternatives you enjoy. If you’re a fan of spiced and heavily flavoured cuisine Pakistan and Indian cuisines actually have a massive amount of vegetarian dishes due to the cost of meat. Not just dishes where meat is swapped for protein but where a vegetable or legume is the star.
Granted that’s not sorted 😂 but there’s a lot out there
4:54The kiss was SO cute guys❤❤❤❤❤❤❤! Gott weather the huttlestorm together right?
Sometimes they kiss, sometimes they hold hands and sometimes they try to set each other on fire. True friends!
A request: Many of us would like recipes where the 2nd portion can be frozen for later. Having a freezer well-stocked with homemade meals (or components) is a joy, but not all dishes do well after being frozen.
It’d be great if some of these challenges had the added requirement that it must be freeze-able, or they must use some frozen homemade leftovers!
Thanks for considering!
One of my childhood favourites is a nettle and carrot smashed potatos, alongside karelian stew. Such a fantastic and hearty meal for long winter days
This sounds delish!
When I saw the flatbread with the leftover potato, I was wondering if they’d think about making a Shawarma or something similar! 😂 But who doesn’t love making a flatbread pizza! Spaff witnessing the salad going on top of the flatbread was hysterical; oh man I love these midweek cooking challenges! 😂❤
I thought one would go for shwarma or at least a homemade dosa!
you know... looking at: salad, meat, flatbread and spices/condiments - my first thought would have been: lets make a german style döner^^
lol Jamie and his pork Sword. 🤣
🙈
That took me by surprise; reminded me of the rat stage manager in "Meet the Feebles".
"You might think it odd of me,
To enjoy the act of..."
I see you are a person of culture!
@@rcrawford42 YEP. Got it on DVD. It's such a hoot.
When I make stuffed mushrooms, I usually dice up the stalks and add them to my stuffing mix. Voila, zero waste!
And it continues to blow my mind how popular air fryers are, when the convection oven's been around since the '40s.
convection ovens have been around for a long time but at least in the US I have never seen one in an apartment or other rented accommodation. They are generally considered a luxury for home owners as well. So for renters air fryers are kind of novel. I personally don't get the air fryer thing, takes up way too much counterspace. One thing to consider from an American perspective is that our energy prices have always been lower than Europe and the difference in costs have gone off the chart since Russia invaded Ukraine.
@@jasons2566 True, they're not a standard kitchen appliance in non-professional kitchens... but (again, given the popularity of air fryers) I've always wondered why that's so. If so much of our cooking focuses on "never having to turn the oven on"-- wouldn't it be better just to... have a better oven, and stop cluttering your counter with oven replacements?
@@jasons2566What do you mean by convection oven? The little mini oven/grill things?
@@nicolad8822on some ovens there's a button with a fan on it. That's the convection oven and it's quite literally what an air fryer is. Advantage of the convection oven is that it's bigger. However an air fryer is smaller so it takes a bit less time to heat up. Personally if I have space for an oven I'll use that as I have yet to find a single home without the convection setting on the oven. Not buying an appliance just to get a smaller version of something I already have, it works fine when it's just me and it doesn't force me to split stuff up if I have guests over
I live in Sweden and the convection oven being present has been the case for housing ranging from 1room apartments to mansions
15:13 it's so interesting that Mike doesn't like it when Ben says "Sorted", I really love it 😅
This was a fantastic job by everyone. Thanks for the video. Love the "Hello, how are you doing?" Kisses on the cheeks. 😂
Leaving the skins had me thinking too, love when ben showcases minimal waste and getting all the good bits, jamie could have chopped up his empty skins and mixed them through, filled them with that slaw, plenty of options
Mike I love it when Ebbers says "Sorted"
Same here! 😂
I’m sad enough that on the system at work where we record machine breakdowns I put “Sorted!” When it’s fixed 😂 2 years and nobodies got the reference yet
I love the sound of sprouts and potato mash! I'm going to be trying that very soon.
I started watching "Sorted" in 2010 or 2011, and always smile when I hear Ben say "and that's [whatever he cooked] sorted." Don't stop, no matter what Mike says. :)
I personally love when he says “sorted.” It’s iconic!
Ebbers saying "sorted" at the end of a recipe is so nostalgic!!
I think Sorted as a whole have reached their ultimate form. This is all amazing and I want to make it all! 😍
Absolutely love the grocery shop challenge videos...have watched them many times. Love seeing what the normals would do...and then seeing the recipes on sorted sidekick done in video form 👍🏻
As soon as I saw the milk (and Ben) I was yelling "POLENTA!!!" at the screen. 🤣
I absolutely LOVE this series for inspiration! Wasn’t interested in this pack because I don’t have an air fryer so thanks for advice on how to cook these using the oven - will definitely cook this recipe pack next week ❤
I love these type of practical cooking videos, especially when I've already picked this pack on sidekick to cook this week!
Love when they both confuse each other lol 😅😂
It’s not hard 😆
@@SortedFood haha so true 🤣
This is my favorite video format. I love the inspiration!
A challenge, great ! I am really looking forward to that. Thank you so much Sorted Food for the amazing work and content that you share with us. You (and I dont mean "only" the boys that we see in the videos, but also the whole crew behind them) do a really amazing job.
Man, I love the premise of this channel, even today. Super simple, super fun, super delicious ^^
Love that you're showing what can be done in the air fryer!
20:42 The boys played well. They didn’t leave any food waste which is quite a feat. Well done!
4:19 I don’t know why but the way Mike says “garnish” sounds like he switched to an American accent 😂
This is one of my favorite formats!!! ❤
This was great! Mike and Jamie did a super job and then to see how Ben would handle the same!!! Truly awesome.
I really enjoy these practical demonstrations.
So glad to hear it 😁
Ditto
More of these types of videos please! I miss the recipe videos, and I know that's mostly moved over to Sidekick (which I do use), but it's nice to get the extra context of hearing why a chef would do things a certain way. Sidekick handles the 'how' really well, but it's hard to get across the 'why' without these videos.
Absolutely love these videos , lots of midweek inspiration
Oh I like the idea of the mash with brussel sprouts added. I'm going to have to try that.
Absolutely love this and some amazing ideas for my mid week meals.
One food waste hack I would add is when making your stuffed mushrooms, finely dice the mushroom stalks into your filling mix and it adds bulk to your filling mix while removing the potential waste, all while adding even more mushroom flavour. Win win win
I love how much you use the air fryer! All the dinners looked delicious!
"Hi, how you doing?" Mwah!! Most wholesome bit of the whole vid, loving it!!
Okay this is by far my favorite episode. I grew up shopping grocery ads, and thus learned how to turn nearly any selection of food into a dish real quick. My mom wouldn't have any waste in the house, for good reason. It would be really cool to see the guys have to shop from just ads and do this, but either way I love watching the chaos. You guys are a great spot of entertainment.
Love the food, but here for the pure friendship of you guys! ❤
The boys did so well! Everything looks so yummy!
This is literally what I needed to figure out what to make for dinner for my family tonight. Thank you for the inspiration and for making sidekick!
I love my air fryer, so pleased your using one
What’s your favourite thing to make?
Chicken or and Salmon or and roast veggies or and whole roasted cauliflower- need more help though. Haven’t made chips yet I’m a little afraid they might be so good I couldn’t resist eating loads🤣🤣
Really happy to see so many air fryer recipes now. Love using ours.
I love my air fryer. I bought one for Christmas. Being disabled, I find it hard to cook, but it's a game changer.
Suffering from relentless depression it's a total game changer too. So easy to cook an entire meal in it, just pop stuff in, go sit down for a bit and bang! A delicious supper.
I agree with you x@@GingerBiPolarBear
I love these videos, I get so much inspiration from them. I made the Greek-inspired chicken orzo dish from the app yesterday, and the pork dish here looks immense and is definitely going into my rotation too! Cracking job lads, I was so impressed by this one.
Can we stop saying pork sword as if its a cut of meat?
I love when he says sorted, it throws me back to their earlier videos!!
Enjoyed this video that much I watched it twice! Really good ideas from both sides....well done lads.
I love these videos...also the combo of Jamie and Mike!
This is my favorite episode of this series! I want to try and make all of the dishes: both Mike and Jamie's and Ben's. It looks so simple and smart and doable. I don't have an air fryer but I have a smaller tabletop convection oven thing I use all the time and I can't wait to try. My favorites were the mash with sprouts, the stuffed mushrooms and polenta, and the chicken and sprouts pasta dish! Great job everyone!
So glad you enjoyed it! You know where to find the recipes 😁
Brilliant ideas!!! Love you guys❤
All of the dishes looked delicious, brilliant.
Would love to see more of these to promote the packs. It gives a real insight into how they are made. But not too often as it is equally fun to discover and practice the packs themselves! I'll be attempting the army stew recipe this week
Love seeing you guys using more of the airfryer, it's a lifesaver for cooking for me!
I love this type of challenge, but I do truly feel that the food team and/or Ben knows what is in the bag, helped design the bag, and that gives them a head start on planning. I would love the "Normals" to get a bag of groceries and give them to Ben and Kush sight unseen and have them design meals around them.
What? Of course they did...?
Awesome, this is definitely my next pack that I'm adding. Love using my air fryer.
Hey y'all ❤jus watching older episodes getting caught up and a new episode hits❤😂🎉AWESOME SAUCE💃👩🍳❤️that little jug of milk sooo😍cute omgoodness
Love it when that happens!
Amaaaaazing Job, both!
This is definitely the kind of video I watch this channel for. Holy crap that was so much fun to watch and I never would have thought to do brussel sprouts and mash together like that but it sounds so clever and delicious!
We love the stuffed mushrooms. Totally found a new love for polenta.
Those guys have come a long way and they have done a good job and they deserve thumbs up I think I like what they came up with just a teeny bit better.
Thanks for the air fryer recipes. I convert my sidekick recipes to the air fryer most of the time.
“Our oven doesn’t go on.” Yeah, because no wants to press play, right? ;)
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great format... loved this, lads....
You could mince the mushroom stalks and put it in the stuffing mix for no waste very easy
love this format!!! After other videos I'm left wanting a chef to walk in to show ME "how it should have been done"
I'm always so impressed by their skills & knowledge in these challenge videos. It's a shame I have such picky taste buds so I wouldn't acc eat most of their meals lol.
Hey I just realized I have the exact air fryer. I love it
you guys are great with your on the spot cooking, and so happy to see a salad on there, could you possibly do more salads? i love big hearty salads but always struggle to grocery chop and plan for them.
I appreciate the tip about being able to use the oven. I didn't even click on this meal pack because I don't have an air fryer but I think I'll go for it now.
I love when he says "..... sorted!" :)
This format of cooking is brillant!!
I love these videos, ending food waste and showing brilliant tips and tricks 👌 👍 👏 🎉❤
I am super glad that Ben mentioned the mushroom stalks. it is a pet hate of mine when people waste them. i would have just diced them up and added them to the stuffing for the mushrooms them selves. great video.
I would've pan braised them in butter and added them to the chicken nugget salad.
Just saying, as someone who has watched Sorted since 2015-ish the choices for music really bring back memories... When Mike seasons the chicken, those music comes from Sorted eats Britain, and who else remembers the hotdog battle music when Jamie came in 🤣
When I do stuffed mushrooms I like to dice up the stalks and mix them in with the stuffing part so they aren't left over :)
I just want to say THANK YOU for the tips on cooking chicken nuggets in an oven/air fryer! I've been learning to make nugs/strips for myself recently, and frying them in oil. But I'm also trying to eat healthier, and was wondering how I might achieve that same "fry" with the breadcrumb coating, in an oven. Definitely going to try adding some oil to my bread crumbs! I've never heard of using a flour/water slurry to dredge the chicken, as a way to get the bread crumbs to stick, either!
Been a big fan of you guys for a long time! Keep up the amazing work!! 💛
Wow guys! Great work! ❤
i think this works better in a pass it on setting. more time for everyone and then actually pass on the leftovers xD
Personally, I love when Ebbers says "That's xyz Sorted!". Just a cute bit of nostalgia. Also, the guys did amazing on this one!
10:47 I like a thermometer. Once the meat has been sliced, heating further is a bother, and the slice lets the heat in more deeply in that area. Thermometer.🤗
