  • Dive into the quest of not only Vedanta, but all of spirituality. What is real happiness? How to we truly overcome suffering? Learn through Jnana Yoga (the yogic path of knowledge), delving deep into the ancient roots of self-enquiry.
This satsang series on the Drig Drisya Viveka is taught by Swami Sarvapriyananda, with humor, depth, and wisdom. The Drig Drisya Viveka is an Advaita Vedanta text attributed to Bharati Tirtha, containing 46 slokas of inquiry into the distinction between the “seer” and the “seen.” It will show you the major underlying principle of Vedantic philosophy and help you explore the inner workings of your own mind.
Swami Sarvapriyananda is the minister and spiritual leader of the Vedanta Society of New York. He joined the Ramakrishna Math and Mission in 1994, received sannyas ten years later, and served in the Hollywood Temple. He was the acharya of the monastic probationers’ training center at Belur Math, and also served as the vice principal of the Deoghar Vidyapith Higher Secondary School. He regularly gives retreats and spiritual talks throughout the United States.

Ego is not because of past karma, it's a vritti which is natural, body is born with this tendency. Explained by Acharya Prashant an advait vedanta teacher.

Sorry but this is a fact.

@@honeythakur509 your answer is absolutely perfect. But from your own experience. But sir you cannot compare a traditional teacher with non traditional teacher.
I myself can point out many flaws in prashant ji's Vedanta classes because it is different from tradional advait.
But, sir you cannot compare anyone who is traditional teacher and other is non traditional. But, prashant ji is doing great work motivating peoples. But, you shouldn't compare the homemade food with a fast food.

I now know that I am the witness and the knowables are all objects because I the witness is witnessing it. I have no body, I cannot speak by my own. My nature is witnessing and knowing all objects but I cannot witness myself.
The last step I need is, to understand that the objects cannot exist without me and they are in me then my task is done.

It is consciousness vs consciousness as far as subject and objects dualities are concerned. The mind posture is what causes the misperception. The mind has this power to correlate itself with what it perceives. And translate its perception into sensory perceptions through its own agents known as sense organs. And matter experience is generated out of No matter.

THE DIFFICULTIES OF AN ENGLISH SPEAKER.
As an avid student of Vedanta, I am drawn to these lectures, listening to them repeatedly; in the hope that I will see the subtle distinctions being made.
However; Vedanta uses many terms for the same thing and Swami is comfortable in their use regardless of their strangeness to our English-speaking ears. As I listened to more and more of his lectures, I became more familiar with some of these terms and am now able to detect when a Sanskrit term is an equivalent to one being discussed. But this is no easy feat and it is not always certain that the subtle distinctions being argued are the same as what I am hearing.
In this video, for example, late in the lecture, Swami discusses the three "assumed" links between the ego and: the body; the mind; and the Pure Consciousness. Through no fault of his own, Swami emphasizes these links by using five terms: Pure Consciousness; the mind; the Ego; the reflected consciousness; and the body.
I am unable to unravel this example, being confused as to what and how both the Ego and the reflected consciousness exist (or not) and why a link between the ego and the Pure Consciousness should be introduced only to be negated in the explanation.
He also attributes the Ego to the mirror, not the reflected face 'in' the mirror: leaving me to ponder what and where the mind is, how the reflected image arises, if the reflected image is, in fact, a 'vritti' in the mind that plays the part of the Ego - making the whole assertion of a personal 'self' simply a mental error, compounded by the close vicinity of the Pure Consciousness to the Mind and the Mind's tendency to equate all 'vrittis' with itself and the body.
    Hence, my confusion.

      Yes..
      Thought provokes karma and
Attachment to karmic process provokes new thought.. just like action and reaction..!!
Thoughtless is the real nature of "I" which is a pure Ego...
Being always into pure ego may give enlightenment of infinite self.
