Hey just a friendly reminder to anyone: you should probably quarantine fish you get from and fish store. The reason I say this is most small fish stores get there fish from the same place as bigger chain pet stores. So unless they quarantine them themselves even if their water quality is good the fish could be sick from before they got to the store. Some illnesses don’t show for a few weeks. I’ve heard of people losing all their fish because they didn’t think a “better” pet store could have sick fish. I would just suggest quarantining ANY time you add new fish to a community tank ☺️☺️

Yup my Petco fish had ich, and every time I go in there for worms, they have ich. One of the local fish stores here quarantines their fish before they're sold, and that's well worth the small price difference.

A Tetra Tank is a very cool concept except I suggest maybe a 100 gallon instead of a 55 and more fish I feel like schooling fish need around 7 or so keep an odd number it's what I was told I don't know why but it's a very cool concept I just like to see a slightly bigger Aquarium
I used to work at PetSmart I can attest that when we would get new shipments of fish they would go into Iso for ATLEAST 1-2 weeks before going out on the floor, the Water's PH and levels were always checked by my manager and if it was off you would have to literally stay and clean that certain tank and refill it with the stock water from the large tanks in the closet. If we ever seen a sick fish we would have to take it out immediately and place it into Iso and were forbidden from selling to a customer. We would have to ask if the pet you bought was going into a proper sized tank and make sure you had the right type of food to feed it before sending it off with you. They took it very serious and taught a lot of stuff about each species we kept stocked even the plants. However I have been to other petsmarts and petcos and they don't always seem the cleanest or have the most active tanks so I suppose it just depends on who is the manager and how much they really care, but usually those people would get fired pretty quickly or weren't ever hired or promoted to manager because most of the kids would get fired after a few weeks of negligence, my manager would randomly ask you questions too to see if you know what you're talking about and re/educate you if you were ever wrong.
Point is just look into the petco or petsmart you use before knocking them because they do have great deals and happy pets looking for a home, all I have is like 3-4 different Petcos and Petsmarts around me and ZERO local pet shops unfortunately so I have to work with what I got.

I have a 30-40 gallon idk exactly what it is but I what a 55 so I can have a lot more community fish

EDIT: also an uncycled tank for quarintine isnt helpful, and using water from another tank doesnt matter, since bacteria doesnt live in the water column, it lives on surfaces.
jesus just saw a solo corydora. you really arent keeping any of those fish correctly. none of them have minimum school sizes, and it is to the point if you did the tank would be overstocked.

biggest tips or tricks that work for you to keep them so clear even with HOB filters? my 20 gallon always has poop and stuff on the bottom and floating in the water
I got 9 burnos tetras and 7 skirt tetras and 6 barns and one angel in a 20 gal and their fine 😂 and I got 12 peacocks in a 55 You jusy worry too much

The axolotl tank looks nice but the axolotl does not look happy and healthy which you can tell by their gills, if the gills are big and fluffy looking them they’re happy but the gills on that one are the complete opposite which means it isn’t happy and healthy
How many fish total is in the tank? Just wanted to know for a future 55 gallon tank I was thinking of buying so I could see determine how much is too much
Fish really are smarter than people think. They recognize their owners or the people who regularly feed them. And they know members of the family and a stranger when there is a stranger at their tank. Some fish show this more the others and they will follow you as best as they can with the limited space that they have.
