  • The one thing that unites all the generations from Gen X to Gen Z is their shared love for Scooby-doo. You might not know the lyrics of the song trending on the charts right now, but you would definitely recognize the tune of Scooby-doo even from a mile away. As kids, we owed a lot of our good night’s sleep to these meddling kids for debunking myths about ghosts. At the end of every episode, our favorite, The Mystery Inc. would unmask the person pretending to be a ghost. Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby-Doo have been the friends we need, for almost half a century. The reason why this cartoon remains iconic is that it gave us characters we can relate to. Velma and Shaggy assured us that it is okay to be different. Velma has been a role model to the kids who felt too geeky, unable to fit in. It is her intellect alongside Shaggy and Scooby’s impeccable timing that always saved the day. Shaggy’s ever-hungry hipster persona is a contrast to that of Fred and Daphne’s. Fred and Daphne are portrayed as mature and responsible enough to be adults. Like the popular saying that goes; great art is inspired in times of crisis, Scooby-Doo was created during the Vietnam War when political tensions were at an all-time high. Now, let us look into eleven of the disturbing monsters, who would have gotten away if it wasn’t for the busybody kids.

Ever since I was a kid, people have mocked scooby Doo as a kiddie show, but there is legit scary dark stuff in this show, atleast the early shows, mystery incorporated and some of the movies. And even as an adult I still love it, it introduced me to the horror genre, and i am grateful.

It's slapstick comedy at worst, at best it's truly a lighthearted noire mystery. Scooby-Doo is the reason why majority adults now enjoy American Horror Story, Lucifer, and Supernatural, mature shows, but at their core; establish the very same nuances of mystery, suspense, spook, and Atmosphere being the biggest. All elements Scooby-Doo achieves in an animation.

Scooby Doo on Zombie Island to me is a Scooby Doo story done right. It was dark, edgy, scary, and violent. The animation was awesome and well done. The story was really good too, and the monsters were real this time, and the music was badass. The song, "It's Terror Time Again" is a song you can't get out of your head and would sing or hum too. They don't make Scooby doo movies like Zombie Island anymore. Now you get cash grabs like Scoob. Hopefully one day there will be another Scooby Doo movie that's darker, edgier, has a good story, and scarier than Zombie Island one day.

i think the big top, werewolf, and the backstage rage definitely got me the most as a kid. the backstage rage still gets me now, just the overall vibe is so creepy! it feels as if the main villain tries to harm the gang (while in previous episodes most villains didn’t mean to harm the gang intentionally) and velma even gets scared at one point. the whole counterfeit situation felt more real too. it just overall was so kooky, but the writing was beautiful and will stay to be one of my favorites

    • @Sandstormer9
      @Sandstormer9 3 роки тому +4

@@kyleshiflet9952 One of the best things about Zombie Island was its choice of setting. Imagine Mystery Inc being lured & trapped on a Bayou Island thats located in the middle of nowhere far from civilisation that's surrounded by alligator infested waters. It can only be reached by a ferry or boat. In the case of the former, it's run by Jacque, whose in on the Cat Creature conspiracy, and the latter being owned by an extremely hostile & anti-social fisherman who hates the gang's guts. No wonder Simone, Lena & Jacque were able to get away with draining the life forces of hundreds if not thousands of people over the decades/centuries. This definitely was a genius move on the writers. The location & situation forced the gang to deal with the cat creatures, otherwise they would most likely end up becoming zombies. And even if the gang stumbled upon Snakebite, the latter might just leave them on Moonscar Island to the zombies/cat creatures because of his hostile personality. I doubt he is the kind of person to repeat a charitable act like rescuing the gang. Just by thinking about Zombie Island's location makes me appreciate the film even more. It truly is a horror movie disguised as a family-friendly film. Also the swamps & New Orleans looked really beautiful especially with the studio doing the animation. Miss Mook studios for giving us these films.

I think the most disturbing villain in Scooby Doo is The Dark Entity, as it managed to destroy the universe that the mystery gang were in and then the save themselves from the destruction of the universe only to end up in another universe which was not theirs. The charry on top was the fact that everyone they know and love never existed and everything is now gone, except the new universe that they are in which everything is "normal" and was never influenced by evil.

What actually annoyed me (Maybe just me) about this video was the way it was edited. You show the villain and their true identity along with the reason they did it. Than you go back to the beginning and show everything from the start leading back to that ending and reason they did it. Why not just start from the start and just end it the way the cartoon would? On an somewhat unrelated note, I’ll always love the scooby/Batman crossover. The greatest detective along with the gang going against the joker and penguin.

In desperation the survivors prayed to their god for help and were ultimately cursed for it. I always felt bad for the “villains” (werecats) in the movie. The zombies being “avengened” or allowed to move on in the end felt a bit hollow in the sense that the pirates at least most certainly deserved their fate.

Fun fact about the Puppet master episode: The character he dresses as most is 'The Cloaked Cavalier', and something about Shaggy saying it in his voice was a core memory for 7 year old me.
When I found a good-sized garden snail in my backyard, I kept him in an old fish tank and built him a terrarium with plants, isopods, and spring tails. I loved that snail so much and he lived for years. I mention all this, because my 7 year old self named that snail The Cloaked Cavalier.
I constantly insisted that when he was referred to, people had to use his proper title. It had to be THE Cloaked Cavalier, not just Cavalier or Cloaked Cavalier. It's something I always laugh to myself about because I would get so angry when the snail wasn't given proper respect lol.
It's made the puppet master episode one of my favorites just from the fond memories of my pet snail The Cloaked Cavalier.

Oh, and I own both the original Broadcast and a rare pre-finalized edits of "Vampire Bats and Scaredy Cats" on VHS, which has many different sound effects and missing animation (you can see the frame numbers below the screen)! Not to mention, Velma says 2 completely different lines, being as follows:
Original 1977 Airing: "That bat was real!"
Pre-Released Edit: "That RAT was real!"
The Vampire seems creepier in the Pre-released edit if you ask me! Even more fascinating, there's dates visible for each frame shown! The first date shown is February 11th, 1977!

I reckon the two scariest villains in the old series would have to be Gramp the Vamp and the Night Ghoul of London (Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo show). Especially the night ghoul man... he had a menacing growl and the dark red eyes. Scared any little kid.

I always thought the puppet guy was really scary as a kid. I even did a video on all the scenes that freaked me out long ago.

Oh Yeah. Especially when he appeared and disappeared when Scooby looked back. Pretty unsettling haha.
The sandbag clue early on made me think oh noo for some reason.

As a child of the 80s, I grew up on all the old Scooby Doo episodes. As is the fashion, those were the best.
I enjoyed A Pup Named Scooby Doo as a kid as well.
The first live action movie was fun even if I didn't agree with Scrappy being a villain.
Mystery Inc. was a great series because it wasn't really trying to update the gang for modern times like alot of the recent animated movies. It also had a darker vibe.
Anything else is Scooby Doo in name only. 😜

I always remembered the line “cat’s got your tongue?” From Scooby Doo and everyone told me it wasn’t a thing. Zombie island was terrifying as a kid.

My older sister got me hooked on Scooby-doo so I used to watch it on boomerang every time it came on
