this was a magnificent piece of musical americana,one of 3 released that year.the others being the filmizations of"the music man"and"gypsy"!

P.S. I forgot to mention that all the performers used their own singing voices, except for Pamela Tiffin, whose singing voice was dubbed by Anita Gordon.
