I used to take this ride a few times a week. I lived towards the end of the ride in Belmont Shores. Thanks for sharing. I miss that neighborhood, and that ride.
I DEED IT MAYNE!!!!! I went from Grant Rea park in Montebello south, then back up on SGRT. My favorite section was the slowest through the shoreline and naples. Thanks for putting this up and giving me the idea...I was getting bored of driving to yorba linda and riding on SART. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
I love the cycling video in 1st person. I'm and avid Spinner and trying to find a way to make Endurance rides more interesting, and I think this is great. I put your video on and I feel like I'm riding with you, right up until the point you stop at McDonalds (one of your other video's). Thanks, BigGreenSpinner
This is cool. I plan on ridding my bike to a beach. Long beach or Santa Monica , or Venice beach. But I have to map it out I live in the city of Azusa and also live by the san Gabriel trail. I'll look it up on google maps. Thanks for the idea.
@dvs810 We use the handlebar/seatpost mounts and the roll bar mounts. The seatpost mount is used with the camera inverted facing back. Handlebar and roll bar mounts can be mounted on the stem or handlebar.
We parked at the Whittier Narrows Leg Lake Parking lot. It's the safer of the two areas to park that are listed on the map link. There are only two signals on the way to Long Beach, if you cruise at 20 mph you will get there in a little more than an hour as it is only 22 miles. Last time we came back on the San Gabriel River Trail they were working on it. If you ride by yourself it's better to ride the Orange County bike routes.
So there's two bike paths on either side of the river?? I just rode the other day from Whittier narrows to artesia but turned around once I saw some Ppl shooting up heroin lol
So beautiful. I'm going to Cali in May and plan on renting a bike for a few days, this is certainly one path I'd like to try out. Where exactly did you start? And how long would it take to go to Long Beach and back? Also, what's the parking like at the starting point? :D
Thank you! When you say it's better to ride the OC routes if I ride alone do you mean this is not a safe area because of traffic or other things? Sorry for all the questions, it'll be my first time in this area :-)
Check out the map link on the video titled "Road Cycling in California - Duarte to Long Beach and Back" It's best to ride this in a group. Have fun, ride safe.
Some of the areas on the LA and San Gabriel River Trails are quite remote and crime is a consideration. There is no traffic so it's a nice ride in that way. The routes in Orange County are safer crime wise and have good bike lanes and road conditions. Many of the routes involve riding in traffic though.
i frequent this path but im on a Fuji Nevada 5.0 with Forte Gotham tires. my average speed is about 15mph. you guys fly by me on your road bikes and make me look like a jackass haha

Thank you ! I had been looking for it for a while.
I'm currently doing about a 40 mile long ride once a week...but I think I am going to try this next week!
Sounds good amigo. Ride safe and take care.
I need to try this route
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed the route.

Just Curious do tires pop alot during rides, and especially during 8:15 ?
Motivating
The second song is - Interstellar Assault Heavy Blasters by Zonic Zynth
Nice video! What mounts did you use?
I always wonder what's the name of second song.
very nice road but no climbing at all. Here in North Carolina we have a lot of awesome road with mad hills.
You guys had a pretty nice speed, my average speed on my single speed road bike is 18-22 mph.
Yes we do have the weather here in Southern California but the weight of the firearms slow us down a bit ;).
@SGS Gent. Ok. Thanks.
you guys start like a block from my house :D
I wish i can join riding with you guys but i will just slow you down lol. High end road bike compare to my fixie road bike.
do you guys have a facebook group for your weekly rides?
what speed do you average for the ride?
what was your average speed here?
@RecklessNation123 It takes a little over an hour.
Man all we have up here is up hill down hill no flats
I should also add the beach bike trails are safe, just a lot of foot traffic and inexperienced riders on the weekends.

Everything looks so flat.... T.T oh, to live in New England
I am laughing because I do not understand Portuguese. I use Google to translate also. We may not be able to talk but we can ride together!
nice scenery but crap training situations, way too crouded. i'm happy that my country don't have bike lanes !
