      @Abel, that is not true. Ancestry DNA test is more accurate for West Africans, but less accurate East Africans. 23&Me is more accurate for East Africans, but not for West Africans. This has to do with the database samples.

    The test aren't proving that you are mixed with Arabs. The test shows that you have generic affinities with people in that area. For thousands of years people from Ethiopia, and Yemen regularly interacted to the point where they were the same people. Arabs as we know them today didn't exist as a homogenous ethnic group before the advent of Islam.

    Your dna is your genotype and ethopian is a ethnicity so a ethnicity can be a blend of different genotypes. Similar to mexican. you wont find mexican on the test but instead a blend of native and spanish since spanish colonizers mixed with the native mayans. middle eastern dna flowed back and forth into southeastern africa some from distant migrations.

      You can't compare Latin America to East Africa. It doesn't work that way. And Bantu is the only East African sample provided, which seems a lot closer than West/Central/South African because t he Bantu in East Africa are partly mixed with Niosaharan and Cushitic groups *that inhabited the region long before them*. There are no Nilosaharan or Cushitic samples used by Ancestry DNA. So they aren't Bantu. They don't speak a Bantu dialect. Most don't border Bantus. And Bantus were reintroduced into East Africa 1000 -2000 years ago from West Africa. So tell me how they can be the progenitors of East Africans if they are recent arrivals. Please, read an actual research paper before you cling to fraudulent DNA results that debunk this unscientific junk science.

      I feel like when people talk about "East Africa" they almost always just mean the "Horn of Africa" aka Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, and Djibouti. Contrary to popular belief, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi are also East African countries, and the majority of peoples in those countries DO NOT have Cushitic and Nilosaharan DNA. We should definitely be more specific when speaking about "East Africa" for it is a vast region that spans for thousands of miles. And I would even argue that East Africa itself has two main sub-regions. "The Horn" and "The Great Lakes Region."

    • @sabcam2000
      @sabcam2000 7 років тому +4

      You're mixed race. The horn of Africa has more DNA samples than the west but yet western tribes clearly present genotypes that are specific to them while the eastern tribes do not. Being older or not doesn't mean a thing. As soon as you separate, there will be mutations every 800-1000 years and you should be able to have a genetic marker specific to you. The fact is horn africans have markers that are found mainly within middle eastern people. Ethiopia might be an old culture, that doesn't mean modern ethiopians are the same. Look at african americans; some are praticaly white but yet, they identify as AA and would be culturally quite similar to another AA who is 99% african for example and some will fight you if you dare saying they're not black. Communities, countries, etc. doesn't mean genotype.
      If you understood a little bit about DNA you wouldn't talk so much. I agree that there should be more samples in Africa in general because as genecists say, africans are the most genetically diverse people on earth but I do not think that even if they sample more DNA from east Africa it would change that much.

    Thank you for sharing your results! I am not an expert, but I wanted to say that most African regions are under-tested so that your results might actually be completely normal for someone of East African/Ethiopian descent. Scientists are still learning about human migration and DNA and what those results mean in present day populations. Every time someone gets tested this increases the amount of data that is available for analysis and comparison. It might be even more interesting if you can find family members to compare your results with - like your parents or cousins.

    Do what I did, have your parents and grandparents take the test through family finder. From analyzing my genealogy I have discovered that ethnicities change from generation to generation and sometimes what is in your ancestry won't show up in your current DNA since you inherit direct lines. For example, my mom came out 100% Middle East but her father was 12.5% admixture Greek. Anyway I say look more into it. If you need help explaining results or other genealogy history questions I can help you!😊 I love to learn about the heritage of others and how those lineages have a story that can change our perspective on history. It's important especially for people of color and other minorities to take these test. Lastly, thank you for posting this video.😊 I really enjoyed it!

      why can't people get it through there minds that somalis and ethopians have always existed therefore they are there own people. there is No such thing as them being a mixture of african and arab. Arica is a bloody content with a variety of people for godsakes. I am a somali and i hate it when i hear somalis say that we are a combined with arabs. no hate to arabs but why do you have to line yourselves with arabs you are your own people and somalia has existed and been its own nation just like the romans, arabs, english and every other country on this globe. we are one not a combined mixture.

    Ethiopians are an extremely mixed nation. It was one of the bigger nations in the ancient world. African, Roman, Hebrew, Arab all mixed in North Africa Ethiopia Spain and Italy. This isn't very surprising actually. Considering the fact that you are Muslim you are most likely a decendant of the Muslims who colonized the area.

      sam sam I'm unsure what is funny about knowing ancient history. Ethiopia was a very big nation in the ancient world and had as much relevance as Egypt and Rome. Ethiopia is documented by Greek and Roman, and Jewish historians of the time. Fact is that the Islamic conquests and the Roman Empire and the conquests of ghengis Kahn all had a significant impact on the populations. The same reason for Ethiopia having the genetic diversity it does is the exact same reason why Italy does or why Iran does. Do you think that people didn't travel or move or intermix with the native populations? Do you not know of the ancient empires? Persia, Mesopotamia, Egypt, Rome, China. Do you know about the silk trade? How about Italy got pasta from China. The Indian spice route? Do you know about that? Do you not know that the ancient empires traded.

      Professional Hacker I never said Somalis have anything in common with habeshas. I’m just saying that it is possible to be both Somali and Ethiopian because Somalis are an ethnic group while Ethiopian is a nationality. If you were born in Ethiopia you’re Ethiopian by default.

    east africans are mixed with Arabs because history just like latinos are a mix of indigenous and Europe there is no mexican or colombian dna so Ethiopia has a similar history with the middle east coming in and mixing with the africans so there is not Ethiopian or a somalian dna.

      Erase Life you’re dumb. WE EXISTED BEFORE ARABS. so it’s impossible that we have more arab dna when it should be the other way round. it’s the fact they don’t have a lot of east african samples.
      btw islam got to east africa because our monarchy’s adopted it through trading now shut up and learn your history.

    It make sense... If I am not mistaken, Arabs and Ethiopians shared the same semitic language 2000 years ago.. Also, the first humans migrated to Arabia came from Ethiopia.. So we are really close genetically..

    I have read that the native Africans that were there mixed with Arabs. This is why some people need to stop with their superiority complex. EVERYONE is mixed. There is no Ethiopian race. There is no race of people. We only live in a region and our dna reflects the history of the people related to you. I know some stupid ass people gonna say some stupid ass shit but I will not be drawn into another couple of months long debate with nobody. Thanks for reading my comment😁. Have a wonderful ___________.✊

      @AyshaHarun  8 років тому +28

      I agree, everyone is mixed to some extent. Ethiopia is definitely not a race, it is a country that hosts many different cultures forming one national ethnicity or identity. Anyone with a superiority complex needs to get checked LOL

      The Blackest Beauty research shows that the first humans where form east Africa, therefore arabs are mixed with us, we are not mixed with them. We need to eliminate the thinking of being mixed makes you better at all, so many East Africans are 90-100% sub Saharan African. Some of us are mixed but a lot of us are not.

    • @theblackestbeauty

      @aura6485 8 років тому +8

      hmm.... this really only works for East Africa , not west. By mixed you mean the phenotype of people in Africa, the gene pool in Africa is really diverse. This doesn't mean everyone is mixed, i know that if people from west Africa was mixed it might have been due to the colonial era. But for east African countries such as Somalia, it could be down to it being not too far from Yemen? i know it was used for its ports and stuff... and people still argue where Somalis really come from lol. But i can't speak much about Ethiopia, i know my grandmother was from there. but that is it.

    • @theblackestbeauty
      @theblackestbeauty 8 років тому +11

      FlyLeaf When I say "mixed", I don't mean with white or arab. It could be a Nigerian and a Kenyan. Nobody is purely one thing. There is some admixture somewhere, even if it's a minute percentage. It's still there.

      Let's see who's the dumbass here my dear :) the Ethiopians are the ones who enslaved other africans and SOLD them to the Arabs! another thing, the slaves taken by Arabs should be nowadays in ARABIA not in Ethiopia :) who's the dumbass now?

    • @sarahalotaibi1230
      @sarahalotaibi1230 7 років тому

      Shameon Onyou ever heard of spice trade that happened in the 10th millennium BC between the Arabs and the Ethiopians and it continued till the Middle Ages? East Africa was the only African countries that didn't get enslaved by European colonists. But however, there was a slave trade in the Arab Peninsula with both Africans and Arabs themselves being enslaved there.
