@Abel, that is not true. Ancestry DNA test is more accurate for West Africans, but less accurate East Africans. 23&Me is more accurate for East Africans, but not for West Africans. This has to do with the database samples.
Always amazing to see a Muslim sister I did a dna test and I'm African American but I have heritage from Sudan on my dad's side. I wish u were single we would make a great couple
If you run your raw DNA through Gedmatch Genesis and DNAland you can get much more detailed results for free and get matched with relatives who have taken the test with other companies.
i know 14 great grand dad's in my fathers side and 9 great grand dad's in my mother's side all are oromo ethiopian. but my result came with 92% east african and 8% north afriacan.
@@lemismurad9641 All of this region are historicly bantu. All people you find othere are mixed BANTU with all asitic people come since early antiquity. So Tigree, Hamaric, Oromo, Somali and so one have a Bantu DNA as light skin you are or straight nose.
Ignore the artificial borders and country names that didn't exist ten thousand years ago and it makes the results easier to decipher. Our preconceived ideas and biases about recent history often obscure our vision of ancient history. Can't wait to do mine. Great video!
Smash 456 no it’s not. that’s stupid. Arabs only makeup 15% of the muslim population. in america the majority muslim group is Black. muslims can be black white asian japanese etc. anything. lol i myself am a black muslim from east africa
most of them Ethiopian youtuber are diaspora and most diasporas are from christian part of Ethiopia specially north west and northern ,,,unlike the eastern part which are Muslims
BEFORE YALL GET WORKED UP - I ordered this test without looking too much into it because I thought they were all the same (plus this was cheaper ok lezzbehonest). I'm aware it isn't completely accurate for East Africans, however it gave a good approximation as the areas it highlights were all near East Africa. I'm looking into other DNA test services at the moment and will do an updated one if y'all really want. This was all for fun and curiosity iight? Have a blessed week 😘😘
Aysha Abdul The area now called the Middle East just like in Egypt the Indigenous peoples are/were so-called black. And a lot of people on the planet are mixed.
Aysha Abdul Your southeastern bantu is you Ethiopia so you are 36 native Ethiopian and Im sure you have Middle Eastern DNA. I can see it in your features.
Aysha Abdul Also take 23andme your East African will show up cause the have a section for East Africa. Unlike Ancestry which adds south and east Africa together.
The test aren't proving that you are mixed with Arabs. The test shows that you have generic affinities with people in that area. For thousands of years people from Ethiopia, and Yemen regularly interacted to the point where they were the same people. Arabs as we know them today didn't exist as a homogenous ethnic group before the advent of Islam.
Roble Yusuf I disagree. You seem to be viewing it from pure modern perspective. As if Africans aren't phenotypically diverse. it can be argued that Arabs themselves are merely mullato.
Your dna is your genotype and ethopian is a ethnicity so a ethnicity can be a blend of different genotypes. Similar to mexican. you wont find mexican on the test but instead a blend of native and spanish since spanish colonizers mixed with the native mayans. middle eastern dna flowed back and forth into southeastern africa some from distant migrations.
You can't compare Latin America to East Africa. It doesn't work that way. And Bantu is the only East African sample provided, which seems a lot closer than West/Central/South African because t he Bantu in East Africa are partly mixed with Niosaharan and Cushitic groups *that inhabited the region long before them*. There are no Nilosaharan or Cushitic samples used by Ancestry DNA. So they aren't Bantu. They don't speak a Bantu dialect. Most don't border Bantus. And Bantus were reintroduced into East Africa 1000 -2000 years ago from West Africa. So tell me how they can be the progenitors of East Africans if they are recent arrivals. Please, read an actual research paper before you cling to fraudulent DNA results that debunk this unscientific junk science.
Your right east Africa is more nilotic and cushtic,Bantus came within the past centuries and settled in east Africa from west/central Africa and intermarried mostly with nilo Saharan people and a couple of cushtic migrating from Ethiopia/Somali coast
I feel like when people talk about "East Africa" they almost always just mean the "Horn of Africa" aka Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, and Djibouti. Contrary to popular belief, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi are also East African countries, and the majority of peoples in those countries DO NOT have Cushitic and Nilosaharan DNA. We should definitely be more specific when speaking about "East Africa" for it is a vast region that spans for thousands of miles. And I would even argue that East Africa itself has two main sub-regions. "The Horn" and "The Great Lakes Region."
@Ancient Rageedi I'm not disputing the fact that most African countries were named by European colonialists, Everybody knows that. There were no nations before their arrival, only kingdoms and tribal societies. No pretending on my part, in fact you're the one pretending to know what part of Africa i'm from and you were wrong. I'm from Cameroon, which is located in the Central African region.
+Aysha Abdul I ain't surprised by the result it's obvious Ethiopians, Eritreans, Somalia, Djibouti and Sudan are mixed with Arabs. We all used to be one country during the kingdom of Axum queen of Sheba
You're mixed race. The horn of Africa has more DNA samples than the west but yet western tribes clearly present genotypes that are specific to them while the eastern tribes do not. Being older or not doesn't mean a thing. As soon as you separate, there will be mutations every 800-1000 years and you should be able to have a genetic marker specific to you. The fact is horn africans have markers that are found mainly within middle eastern people. Ethiopia might be an old culture, that doesn't mean modern ethiopians are the same. Look at african americans; some are praticaly white but yet, they identify as AA and would be culturally quite similar to another AA who is 99% african for example and some will fight you if you dare saying they're not black. Communities, countries, etc. doesn't mean genotype. If you understood a little bit about DNA you wouldn't talk so much. I agree that there should be more samples in Africa in general because as genecists say, africans are the most genetically diverse people on earth but I do not think that even if they sample more DNA from east Africa it would change that much.
LOVED this video! I did my test and I thought I was going to be more Nigerian and see some Native American, but I'm mostly Ivorian and I found out I am Spanish and North African too! Great video!
You can upload you raw DNA into ged match. Just because you have no Ethiopian DNA doesn't mean that you have no Ethiopian ancestry. Full sibling can take the test and have different percentages. They may even have DNA from different areas.
So interesting, I really want to get mine done as well soon! But just to let you know I read somewhere that ancestry DNA lumps east africa with the middle east, as they have a lack of data on people from that region (hence why the high middle east percentage). My friend tried 23andme and is more accurate as it recognises east africa, she got about 98% east african and 2% european.
Ancestry sucks. they know Ethiopians and Somalis and Eritreans have no Bantu admixture. 23andme has enough data to group us as a one race unique haplogroups from East and Northeast africa. you can check my Dna on my profile
do you feel like it might not be fully accurate, since they might not have enough data from African countries? Maybe that's why you got high percentage of middle eastern? I was little shocked too :)) Are there any other services to double check? Now I wanna do this test too!
+Delia Ahmed yea I did more digging and realized that there isn't enough East African data on Ancestry so they normally group us into Southeast Bantu. I believe it's similar with the Middle East because Ethiopia is so close to it.
Delia Ahmed these test arent meant to be accurate. They dont tell you what blood runs through you... They just tell you with which regions or countries people you share common dna too which give you an idea to were your ancestors could be from. technically the only way to get all Samples is if more Somalis Tool these Tests etc but most deny to but all in all these Tests have never said to be accurate people have just perceived it that way due to the results of many in the diaspora.
I'm Eritrean and got 45% African -> 34% SE Bantu, 8% North African, 2% Senegal (trace), >1% Mali. And 55% middle eastern. I was pretty shocked, but then again everyone thinks I look black and Indian, even other habeshas lol.
+Helen S. I am Ethiopian specifically harari and gurage. My DNA test came out with 56% Middle East, 34% east and Central African, 8% North African and 2% Asia Minor. I was like wtf. I don't really believe in it tho.
Thank you for sharing your results! I am not an expert, but I wanted to say that most African regions are under-tested so that your results might actually be completely normal for someone of East African/Ethiopian descent. Scientists are still learning about human migration and DNA and what those results mean in present day populations. Every time someone gets tested this increases the amount of data that is available for analysis and comparison. It might be even more interesting if you can find family members to compare your results with - like your parents or cousins.
Aysha Abdul yup I'm surprised lol so basically you're Arab! That's a really high percentage considering both your parents were born in Ethiopia! Btw I'm from Sudan ❤️
Geographically Ethiopia is close to Africa and the Middle East region but I was not expecting 51% of Middle Eastern origin. I am from Senegal but my ancestors were from Mali. I have family in Mauritania and Gambia 🤗
I'm Eritrean so if you're 51% middle eastern I really can't be taking that DNA test. I'll have an identity crisis! Ps when you said "dinish" and I laughed way too loud!
Do what I did, have your parents and grandparents take the test through family finder. From analyzing my genealogy I have discovered that ethnicities change from generation to generation and sometimes what is in your ancestry won't show up in your current DNA since you inherit direct lines. For example, my mom came out 100% Middle East but her father was 12.5% admixture Greek. Anyway I say look more into it. If you need help explaining results or other genealogy history questions I can help you!😊 I love to learn about the heritage of others and how those lineages have a story that can change our perspective on history. It's important especially for people of color and other minorities to take these test. Lastly, thank you for posting this video.😊 I really enjoyed it!
You are misunderstanding the result. Ethiopians are between the Arabs from north & north east and the Bantus in the south. We have mixed ancestry from those two
Skin colour doesn't define admixture in the Horn. You can as black as coal like I have seen with some Somalis here in London but still have a large chunk of Middle Eastern ancestry. The mixture creates a different phenotype from a mix between African and European......
why can't people get it through there minds that somalis and ethopians have always existed therefore they are there own people. there is No such thing as them being a mixture of african and arab. Arica is a bloody content with a variety of people for godsakes. I am a somali and i hate it when i hear somalis say that we are a combined with arabs. no hate to arabs but why do you have to line yourselves with arabs you are your own people and somalia has existed and been its own nation just like the romans, arabs, english and every other country on this globe. we are one not a combined mixture.
jamila khalil girl I 100% agree with you. You took the words right out of my mouth. Why can't we be our own people our own ethnicity which is SOMALI, without adding a whole bunch of mixture into it. We are BLACK AFRICAN SOMALI PEOPLE point blank period. Don't like or believe it, jog on mate!! Y'all got us fucked up like really fucked up. Before any hoe says I'm not Somali or mix or whatever. Imma shut you down real quick because I am 100% SOMALI 😌💅☕️
I got my results a couple of years ago. My ancestor is from the Ethiopia region and we’re able to trace her back! My results solidified that so that was awesome. 🇪🇹
Aysha, why are you surprised? Ethiopia is located in an overlap region. It's simultaneously African and Middle Eastern. NE Africa and SW Asia were once connected as a single landmass during prehistoric times. This was before the formation of the Rea Sea.
there is one thing you don't know guys. that things is if you ask harari person what is your tribe he/she would mostly say one of the somali tribes specially sheekhaash so basically harari originally are from somali. .
GIRL WHAT 51 PERCENT MIDDLE EASTERN HAHAHA Mine was 29% Middle Eastern and like 28% of it was North African (Morocco-Egypt). And weirdly I was also 1% British. Was this the free test through 23andme or Ancestry? I did 23andme and it said like 63% Ethiopian/Eritrean haha

Salam. I don't find it surprising as many Arabs settled in Ethiopia and Somalia. In fact some of the sahabas fled to Ethiopia from the persecution in Makkah. I personally met an Ethiopian brother who traces his ancestry to the prophet (pbuh) himself.
Athra Albattat I bet you didnt see all these coments who are denying it the mixing with Arabs am Somali myself and our people are way older then the Arabs so how are mixed with them that makes no sense
Boo no they dont i never heard of an arab who was happy with having some european ancestry( exept maybe for christians ) since thee majority of european ancestry is from slaves
Ethiopian don't have more Arab DNA thane Somali . Arab's have habeshan DNA .who is oldest Africa race or the Arab race. oh yea don't forget Yemen it used to be axum kingdom. so it's not sapprsing to see Arab DNA on ass because we used live both sides off the redsea.
east africa was part of Yemeni kingdoms for thousands of years and you can see that a lot of east african languages are south semetic (not african) .. amharic for example , and east africans features doesn't look like other africans they look mixed , so it's not weird to have this high persentage of middle east BTW axum was semetic kingdom in east africa exactly like sabaeans
also they (the Semitics) settle in north Africa from Phoenician immigration around 1200 BC - 800 BC also during the Arabs-Byzantium wars (633-733), Arabs settle in north Africa and eastern Africa coast.
Bullshit. The ethiopians invaded yemen. The real arabs or the first arabs was darkskinned . The arabs that u see now are mixed with persians. The ancestors of the arabs are east africans.
@@winstond657 You are stupid, most of the arabs in the arabian peninsula are non mixed, while eastern africans have arabian blood, stop this bullshit, there was no black people living in our land before us, and there is no proof.
I am 1/4 middle eastern, and you actually remind me a lot of my middle eastern cousins! ^_^ I've thought that in your past videos before ever watching this one! :D
I saw on several other Somali/Ethiopian results that Ancestry doesn't have enough info on Ethiopians and Somali's. Supposedly, your results will more reflect your Ethiopian ancestry differently with 23..
Ethiopians are an extremely mixed nation. It was one of the bigger nations in the ancient world. African, Roman, Hebrew, Arab all mixed in North Africa Ethiopia Spain and Italy. This isn't very surprising actually. Considering the fact that you are Muslim you are most likely a decendant of the Muslims who colonized the area.
sam sam I'm unsure what is funny about knowing ancient history. Ethiopia was a very big nation in the ancient world and had as much relevance as Egypt and Rome. Ethiopia is documented by Greek and Roman, and Jewish historians of the time. Fact is that the Islamic conquests and the Roman Empire and the conquests of ghengis Kahn all had a significant impact on the populations. The same reason for Ethiopia having the genetic diversity it does is the exact same reason why Italy does or why Iran does. Do you think that people didn't travel or move or intermix with the native populations? Do you not know of the ancient empires? Persia, Mesopotamia, Egypt, Rome, China. Do you know about the silk trade? How about Italy got pasta from China. The Indian spice route? Do you know about that? Do you not know that the ancient empires traded.
Yes my sister, Ethiopia has been a melting pot between the middle East and Africa. Jews and early Christians along with Arabs have been visiting and immigrating there for over 2,000 years. That's the beauty of Africa and the beauty of Ethiopia.
Domingo Hernandez De Jesus the "early Christians" never visitor Ethiopia bc the Ethiopians are the first Christians Ethiopia is the first nation and empire to accept Christianity after us the Armenians and than the rest of the world and Arabs aren't native to Africa only the barbers and black people of course
your parents were born in Ethiopia but as this is a gene test it's showing you where the concentration of your genetical make up is at on the map. So as you said they are from a mix area in Ethiopia so part of your family more than likely migrated there not too long ago so Ethiopia wouldn't pop up, unless your ancestral roots originated there to begin with, because as you know ppl move around.
My dad told me someone from the Pakistan India area brought pipes to Harar and married a Harari person. And then my family was born. Edit: that's also where the word bomba came from.
I am from Baydhabo, Somalia from the Raxawyni tribe.I did the 23andme DNA test and the result really surprised me. It says I am 93% Middle Eastern 7% Bantu even though both my parents are full Somali. I took it with a Kuwaiti lady and it turned out I was more Middle Eastern than her. it's really strange. I do look like Middle Eastern though. I have very soft wavy hair and I am light-skinned. I look more like my father. my father is light skinned and my mom is dark skinned.
Lulu Osman Believing that result is like believing you are mixed with Alians and having soft hair has nothing to do mixing with others thats how we Somalis and others EA look
one thing is, raxanweyne is a collection of tribes, some are unrelated to eachother, some ashraaf identify as raxanweyne even though they have arabian origins, other raxanweyne can be oromo origins. and others full somali
Just wanted to say it was a fun video with someone expecting one thing and got a super surprise. A lot of ppl that get that get annoyed and a bit angry but you were so cool and funny. It was nice for a change! :)
a DNA test is only as good as the database they use. These companies have a lot of samples from Europe and very poor representation from Africa (it's pitiful for East Africans). I wouldn't take these results as an absolute truth, at all.
How fun to find out your ancestral background. I'd be curious about my own and my kids. I might look into it. It would make a great homeschool project :) -Hana
they don't have sample of somalia/ethopia/eriteria/sudan/djibouti so when they say africa, its probably from those areas its just that those regions have no samples they can identify it with
Middle-Eastern genetic markers could be found all over East Africa at varying frequencies, and is not specifically linked to only the Slave-trade but is older. There were also migrations of Middle-Easterners into Africa at various periods of history.
Interesting. I wanna take one too! My family is mixed so wanna see if that will show accurately. Done the FB ones and the results are hilarious. Kenya and Tanzania are East African countries. So not far off.
it is possible that one of set of your ancestors migrated and started a life there in Ethiopia. Remember, migration was happening a long time ago. Its like whites in Jamaica, they were from the 1700's and many of their offspring remains unmixed. You will find that they were Irish, British, French, and German too.
you can download your raw data from Ancestry and upload it to GEDmatch(dot)com and DNA(dot)land to run more detailed reports and comparisons with other people who've taken autosomal DNA tests with other companies. Many/most Amhara, Tigrinya and Harari people will show up as Middle Eastern and Africa North in broad reports because they are Semitic people and included in Afro-Asiatic population groupings.
I laugh every time people born in East Africa (the clearly mixed ones) sees their results, and are shocked. I'm surprised you didn't get Europe either.
hhhhhhhhh true. but the trick is their mix is 1000s yrs old so really they dont know they mix unless they go out of their countries. the population inside the horn(somalis, ethiopians, eriterians) dont know they mixed long time ago, they will laugh at your face if you tell thm so.
Hello! I'm from spain. I have 44% iberian and 37.1 % british irlands and irland, and 14% sarda (i didn't expected. And I am 3,2% middle est and 1,3% somalia. It's so shooking because I'm from generations from spain. I so surprised and glad hahaha.
Professional Hacker I never said Somalis have anything in common with habeshas. I’m just saying that it is possible to be both Somali and Ethiopian because Somalis are an ethnic group while Ethiopian is a nationality. If you were born in Ethiopia you’re Ethiopian by default.
well, this makes sense no idea why you are shocked, in history Ethiopia is called Al Habasha in the middle east, Habasha means the mix, that's where everyone mixed.
east africans are mixed with Arabs because history just like latinos are a mix of indigenous and Europe there is no mexican or colombian dna so Ethiopia has a similar history with the middle east coming in and mixing with the africans so there is not Ethiopian or a somalian dna.
kkkkkk No my friend Arabs Dna type is J, I am E-V32 I predate Arabs by few thousand years. u am 100 percent East African. check my profile. Also my mother MtDa Is L3X1 two generation from mother of humanity, So I couldn't have no mixture from that side either.
Erase Life you’re dumb. WE EXISTED BEFORE ARABS. so it’s impossible that we have more arab dna when it should be the other way round. it’s the fact they don’t have a lot of east african samples. btw islam got to east africa because our monarchy’s adopted it through trading now shut up and learn your history.
I've had several family members tested as well as testing myself....we're a very mixed family.Although we're "mostly" European...we are also African(several regions) Asian,Native American and Middle Eastern...we're descended from a group of mixed race early settlers of the Appalachian Mountains..known as Melungeons
It make sense... If I am not mistaken, Arabs and Ethiopians shared the same semitic language 2000 years ago.. Also, the first humans migrated to Arabia came from Ethiopia.. So we are really close genetically..
I have read that the native Africans that were there mixed with Arabs. This is why some people need to stop with their superiority complex. EVERYONE is mixed. There is no Ethiopian race. There is no race of people. We only live in a region and our dna reflects the history of the people related to you. I know some stupid ass people gonna say some stupid ass shit but I will not be drawn into another couple of months long debate with nobody. Thanks for reading my comment😁. Have a wonderful ___________.✊
I agree, everyone is mixed to some extent. Ethiopia is definitely not a race, it is a country that hosts many different cultures forming one national ethnicity or identity. Anyone with a superiority complex needs to get checked LOL
The Blackest Beauty research shows that the first humans where form east Africa, therefore arabs are mixed with us, we are not mixed with them. We need to eliminate the thinking of being mixed makes you better at all, so many East Africans are 90-100% sub Saharan African. Some of us are mixed but a lot of us are not.
hmm.... this really only works for East Africa , not west. By mixed you mean the phenotype of people in Africa, the gene pool in Africa is really diverse. This doesn't mean everyone is mixed, i know that if people from west Africa was mixed it might have been due to the colonial era. But for east African countries such as Somalia, it could be down to it being not too far from Yemen? i know it was used for its ports and stuff... and people still argue where Somalis really come from lol. But i can't speak much about Ethiopia, i know my grandmother was from there. but that is it.
FlyLeaf When I say "mixed", I don't mean with white or arab. It could be a Nigerian and a Kenyan. Nobody is purely one thing. There is some admixture somewhere, even if it's a minute percentage. It's still there.
Aysha! I'm middle eastern (Saudi Arabian) and I LOVED your reaction 😍❤️ you're beautiful inside and outside! Arabs never invaded or raped in east Africa, so ignore people who say this bullshit sister ❤️
Ant rip Let's see who's the dumbass here my dear :) the Ethiopians are the ones who enslaved other africans and SOLD them to the Arabs! another thing, the slaves taken by Arabs should be nowadays in ARABIA not in Ethiopia :) who's the dumbass now?
Shameon Onyou ever heard of spice trade that happened in the 10th millennium BC between the Arabs and the Ethiopians and it continued till the Middle Ages? East Africa was the only African countries that didn't get enslaved by European colonists. But however, there was a slave trade in the Arab Peninsula with both Africans and Arabs themselves being enslaved there.
Very interesting result, it's almost like they did have all of African DNA counted! my mind has been changed since watching Henry Louis Gates segment on African history. Thanks for the video.
Watch my most updated DNA Test with 23andMe! These results were much more accurate ua-cam.com/video/pLsotKwjsTE/v-deo.html
@Abel, that is not true. Ancestry DNA test is more accurate for West Africans, but less accurate East Africans. 23&Me is more accurate for East Africans, but not for West Africans. This has to do with the database samples.
Aysha Abdul what was the y dna

Tedla Worede I got 60 % middle East 31% north Africa and 9% Bantue . I'm Eritrean

Aysha Abdul Why are you shocked you look middle eastern with a tan.
Aysha Abdul You are right it isnt that serious lol. I'm doing another dna test for the heck of it
i cant stop staring at your makeup in this video. its so pretty!
You have to be proud, you are from Africa, the Mother of All lands.
♡ Africa ♡
The test aren't proving that you are mixed with Arabs. The test shows that you have generic affinities with people in that area. For thousands of years people from Ethiopia, and Yemen regularly interacted to the point where they were the same people. Arabs as we know them today didn't exist as a homogenous ethnic group before the advent of Islam.
Kudjoe Adkins-Battle excellently said. I feel like people are not fully understanding the Information these test provide them with.
cemir la DNA clearly shows mixture.
Pure Arabs are the qahtanite Arabs that existed for thousands and thousands of years. Arabized arabs are adnanite arabs and all the other nations
Roble Yusuf I disagree. You seem to be viewing it from pure modern perspective. As if Africans aren't phenotypically diverse. it can be argued that Arabs themselves are merely mullato.
sabbeee MC no such thing as a pure Arab, they are all they result of amalgamation
*ethiopian is a nationality. Ethnici groups within Ethiopia are Amhara, Oromo, Harari etc
Mad Alz Music
I born in Kenya but my homeland is Somalian 🇸🇴🔥🌸
Wllshy 😍😘❤️💯💪
which passport do you have?
@Ancient Rageedi ok but "Kenya" is not a name made up by Europeans, the country is named after the second highest mountain in Africa, Mount Kenya.
@@nicolast7644 are you sure it wasn't named after Jomo Kenyatta?

Right here
Aysha Abdul 👐
+Aysha Abdul I ain't surprised by the result it's obvious Ethiopians, Eritreans, Somalia, Djibouti and Sudan are mixed with Arabs. We all used to be one country during the kingdom of Axum queen of Sheba

No my Friend Ethiopians have more Arab Mix than Somalis. I am 100 Somali.
Omg, I'm in LOVE with this look!!! The maroon lips and eyeshadow look amazing with the olive green hijab. Stunning as usual. I am officially inspired.
I don't think they directly tested Ethiopia.
They didn't directly test the Horn of Africa in general that's why these results make no sense
The Light everyone came from east africa. our dna is 100% no mixing.
@@zetzu6460 all humanity comes from africa.
LOVED this video! I did my test and I thought I was going to be more Nigerian and see some Native American, but I'm mostly Ivorian and I found out I am Spanish and North African too! Great video!
"zero Ethiopian?" lmao that's pretty funny, and yeah Hareari people are super mix and don't worry, we still consider you as an Ethiopian!
you do actually look tanzanian and kenyan to me... rather than ethipion so it wasnt surprising actually lol
I agree

I agree too
I am from Yemen and for thousands of years Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Yemen and zunjbar and Oman have always been mixed and integrated culture
not somalis somalis are homogenous
You can upload you raw DNA into ged match. Just because you have no Ethiopian DNA doesn't mean that you have no Ethiopian ancestry. Full sibling can take the test and have different percentages. They may even have DNA from different areas.
So interesting, I really want to get mine done as well soon!
But just to let you know I read somewhere that ancestry DNA lumps east africa with the middle east, as they have a lack of data on people from that region (hence why the high middle east percentage). My friend tried 23andme and is more accurate as it recognises east africa, she got about 98% east african and 2% european.
hmm, maybe I'll contact them and ask! I'll probably end up giving 23 and Me a try as well though
Ancestry sucks. they know Ethiopians and Somalis and Eritreans have no Bantu admixture. 23andme has enough data to group us as a one race unique haplogroups from East and Northeast africa. you can check my Dna on my profile
K
Army xJ-Hope it lumps it together due to the common dna they tend to share ...that is all
do you feel like it might not be fully accurate, since they might not have enough data from African countries? Maybe that's why you got high percentage of middle eastern? I was little shocked too :)) Are there any other services to double check? Now I wanna do this test too!
+Delia Ahmed yea I did more digging and realized that there isn't enough East African data on Ancestry so they normally group us into Southeast Bantu. I believe it's similar with the Middle East because Ethiopia is so close to it.
that's what i thought, i'll have to look into it to see if there's data on my heritage and then do the test too. But i'm so curious now!
just realised I forgot to say she's half Eritrean and half yemeni
Delia Ahmed these test arent meant to be accurate. They dont tell you what blood runs through you... They just tell you with which regions or countries people you share common dna too which give you an idea to were your ancestors could be from. technically the only way to get all Samples is if more Somalis Tool these Tests etc but most deny to but all in all these Tests have never said to be accurate people have just perceived it that way due to the results of many in the diaspora.
+Sarah sarah hell no
. she is Ethiopian and Yemeni
The Keeper LOL our results are almost identical 😂 and ya I definitely have some doubts about their estimates
+Amina Salad. Yeah I agree with you my friend.
WHY are you SO GORGEOUS!!!! I can't handle the beauty!
SUUPER LATE upload but I just could't wait for y'all to see this!! Are you surprisedly my results?! Let me know where you're from!
Aysha Abdul yup I'm surprised lol so basically you're Arab! That's a really high percentage considering both your parents were born in Ethiopia! Btw I'm from Sudan ❤️
Aysha Abdul my mom and dad is from somali
Geographically Ethiopia is close to Africa and the Middle East region but I was not expecting 51% of Middle Eastern origin. I am from Senegal but my ancestors were from Mali. I have family in Mauritania and Gambia 🤗
I'm Eritrean so if you're 51% middle eastern I really can't be taking that DNA test. I'll have an identity crisis! Ps when you said "dinish" and I laughed way too loud!
+Khady Sow Ethiopia is in East Africa. No where near the middle east.
It make sense tho, I mean most of our ancestors are mixed with middle eastern.
Skin tone is one component, yes.
James Kibirige
Honestly anyone who has arab and black in them WILL look Somali or Ethiopian
Ayan BerryMoore i disliked your comment but you cant see.
Ayan BerryMoore true but im talking about the ones that pop in a one's mind when the word "somali" is mentioned
Agreed.
why can't people get it through there minds that somalis and ethopians have always existed therefore they are there own people. there is No such thing as them being a mixture of african and arab.
Undeniably you are 100% beautiful. Great video keep up the good work.
Aysha, why are you surprised? Ethiopia is located in an overlap region. It's simultaneously African and Middle Eastern. NE Africa and SW Asia were once connected as a single landmass during prehistoric times. This was before the formation of the Rea Sea.
there is one thing you don't know guys. that things is if you ask harari person what is your tribe he/she would mostly say one of the somali tribes specially sheekhaash so basically harari originally are from somali. .

I heard 23andme is more accurate so it would be interesting if you could do the free African ancestry test on there too!
I really want to try that, but the free one is not available for Canad :( I purchased the Ancestry DNA one

Ethiopian don't have more Arab DNA thane Somali . Arab's have habeshan DNA .who is oldest Africa race or the Arab race. oh yea don't forget Yemen it used to be axum kingdom. so it's not sapprsing to see Arab DNA on ass because we used live both sides off the redsea.
east africa was part of Yemeni kingdoms for thousands of years and you can see that a lot of east african languages are south semetic (not african) .. amharic for example , and east africans features doesn't look like other africans they look mixed , so it's not weird to have this high persentage of middle east
BTW axum was semetic kingdom in east africa exactly like sabaeans

the huge immigration happened in 5000 - 4000 BC that Semitic people immigrate from middle east and Arabia to Africa they settle in Ethiopia
also they (the Semitics) settle in north Africa from Phoenician immigration around 1200 BC - 800 BC
also during the Arabs-Byzantium wars (633-733), Arabs settle in north Africa and eastern Africa coast.
5000BC I don't believe that kind of history I was reading to pass exam hhhhhhh

I saw on several other Somali/Ethiopian results that Ancestry doesn't have enough info on Ethiopians and Somali's. Supposedly, your results will more reflect your Ethiopian ancestry differently with 23..
I'm 60 and about to have my DNA done. I'll probably be like you as I don't know my father's family but you are still you... God Bless
HAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sam sam I'm unsure what is funny about knowing ancient history.
No Muslims colonized the area. South Arabia was an Ethiopian (Aksumite) colony until the 6th century.
Yes my sister, Ethiopia has been a melting pot between the middle East and Africa. Jews and early Christians along with Arabs have been visiting and immigrating there for over 2,000 years. That's the beauty of Africa and the beauty of Ethiopia.
Domingo Hernandez De Jesus the "early Christians" never visitor Ethiopia bc the Ethiopians are the first Christians
Ethiopia is the first nation and empire to accept Christianity
after us the Armenians and than the rest of the world and Arabs aren't native to Africa only the barbers and black people of course
YOU'RE SO PRETTY OMG
your parents were born in Ethiopia but as this is a gene test it's showing you where the concentration of your genetical make up is at on the map.
Ancestry doesn't have that much Eastern African samples, so they just assign it to Middle Eastern.
That's a lie
I am from Baydhabo, Somalia from the Raxawyni tribe.I did the 23andme DNA test and the result really surprised me. It says I am 93% Middle Eastern 7% Bantu even though both my parents are full Somali. I took it with a Kuwaiti lady and it turned out I was more Middle Eastern than her. it's really strange. I do look like Middle Eastern though. I have very soft wavy hair and I am light-skinned. I look more like my father. my father is light skinned and my mom is dark skinned.

a DNA test is only as good as the database they use. These companies have a lot of samples from Europe and very poor representation from Africa (it's pitiful for East Africans). I wouldn't take these results as an absolute truth, at all.
So true Style 09 ! I read I think it was Ancestry.com have like 300 samples from Africa and over 3,000 for Europe.
Style 09 I agree with your point
Style 09 they never said they were accurate
Style 09 because they know them African DNA has a LOT of mixture! 😂
It's pretty accurate. It won't reveal anything you're not. Everything it reveals is something that you are.
how much does it cost to make the DNA analysis ?
How fun to find out your ancestral background. I'd be curious about my own and my kids. I might look into it. It would make a great homeschool project :)

they don't have sample of somalia/ethopia/eriteria/sudan/djibouti so when they say africa, its probably from those areas its just that those regions have no samples they can identify it with
Middle-Eastern genetic markers could be found all over East Africa at varying frequencies, and is not specifically linked to only the Slave-trade but is older. There were also migrations of Middle-Easterners into Africa at various periods of history.
Interesting. I wanna take one too! My family is mixed so wanna see if that will show accurately. Done the FB ones and the results are hilarious. Kenya and Tanzania are East African countries. So not far off.
I FEEL my ancestry is mostly from Ghana. I have a little Cherokee and Irish too but I really feel the West African in me.😀🌍
That's actually not surprising at all. Ethiopians seem to be really mixed to be honest.
it is possible that one of set of your ancestors migrated and started a life there in Ethiopia.
You're beautiful mashallah, defo subscribed 💙 greetings from Lebanon x
I laugh every time people born in East Africa (the clearly mixed ones) sees their results, and are shocked. I'm surprised you didn't get Europe either.
Don't over think it dear. :) I'm still going to be cracking up at these results. 😎
hhhhhhhhh true. but the trick is their mix is 1000s yrs old so really they dont know they mix unless they go out of their countries. the population inside the horn(somalis, ethiopians, eriterians) dont know they mixed long time ago, they will laugh at your face if you tell thm so.
Shea Mc Sorry to break ot to you but East Africans are way older then the Arabs so it makes no sense we have their Dna we are like the dad
Doesn't matter who is older though. Water is older than ink, but if you put ink into water, it's still a mix.

Ly M you can be both...Somalis in Ethiopia are called somali-ethiopians.
TheBlackMamba No you can't there are No somali ethiopians
@@theblackmamba9698 NO WE ARE NOT CALLED STOP IT WE ARE SOMALI IN OGADEN REGION HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON WITH HABASHA BTW WE ARE NOT ETHIOPIAN
Professional Hacker I never said Somalis have anything in common with habeshas. I’m just saying that it is possible to be both Somali and Ethiopian because Somalis are an ethnic group while Ethiopian is a nationality. If you were born in Ethiopia you’re Ethiopian by default.
mixed arab and africain =💗💗bombe💛💛
well, this makes sense no idea why you are shocked, in history Ethiopia is called Al Habasha in the middle east, Habasha means the mix, that's where everyone mixed.
WE ARE NOT MIXED!
Awesome video!
east africans are mixed with Arabs because history just like latinos are a mix of indigenous and Europe there is no mexican or colombian dna so Ethiopia has a similar history with the middle east coming in and mixing with the africans so there is not Ethiopian or a somalian dna.
kkkkkk No my friend Arabs Dna type is J, I am E-V32 I predate Arabs by few thousand years. u am 100 percent East African. check my profile. Also my mother MtDa Is L3X1 two generation from mother of humanity, So I couldn't have no mixture from that side either.
It's not Latinos. It's Latin Americans. www.latins-latinos.yolasite.com
Horn of Africa is older then Arabia how is it possible that we mixed with arabs come on man
Brngo Mosam it's because Jews Arabs and Ethiopians do come from the Semitic root so that's why.
Maybe because Arabs invaded the area and mixed with the local population?
How did you think Islam got there in the first place?
On point thank you
Erase Life you’re dumb. WE EXISTED BEFORE ARABS. so it’s impossible that we have more arab dna when it should be the other way round. it’s the fact they don’t have a lot of east african samples.
btw islam got to east africa because our monarchy’s adopted it through trading now shut up and learn your history.
Erase Life some people don’t use logic or common sense.
i was born in nazret and raised in nazret and awash
I've had several family members tested as well as testing myself....we're a very mixed family.Although we're "mostly" European...we are also African(several regions) Asian,Native American and Middle Eastern...we're descended from a group of mixed race early settlers of the Appalachian Mountains..known as Melungeons
It make sense... If I am not mistaken, Arabs and Ethiopians shared the same semitic language 2000 years ago.. Also, the first humans migrated to Arabia came from Ethiopia.. So we are really close genetically..
Lool she does look like Tanzanian/kenyan
no she doesn't
mam lee she Somali
I Think u was somali
welcome sister (from Algeria)
It shows how diverse we the people of the eastern part of africa. The influence is so diverse. Mixed blessings.
Amazing video hope you have a millions subscriber
Happy Hijabi I totally agree.
hmm.... this really only works for East Africa , not west.
Aysha! I'm middle eastern (Saudi Arabian) and I LOVED your reaction 😍❤️
you're beautiful inside and outside!
Arabs never invaded or raped in east Africa, so ignore people who say this bullshit sister ❤️
Ant rip
Let's see who's the dumbass here my dear :) the Ethiopians are the ones who enslaved other africans and SOLD them to the Arabs! another thing, the slaves taken by Arabs should be nowadays in ARABIA not in Ethiopia :) who's the dumbass now?
Shameon Onyou ever heard of spice trade that happened in the 10th millennium BC between the Arabs and the Ethiopians and it continued till the Middle Ages? East Africa was the only African countries that didn't get enslaved by European colonists. But however, there was a slave trade in the Arab Peninsula with both Africans and Arabs themselves being enslaved there.
I got 83% middle eastern and i'm darker than you
Just a few genes are responsible for skin colour. I have seen people with two Black parents who have lighter skin than Barak Obama.
@Bubble Buster not just in America, in the Caribbean and Africa as well and I am not just talking about albinos either.
You know what you are? You are just beautiful. And 100% human.

Salaam's, seriously when I first saw you, I thought you were South African . You look like us Walahi. You are my cousin, Ghalas! 😁😁😁😁😁
How many times has she said I'm 51% middle eastern .everybody knows Solomon went there and Muslim Arabs
Very interesting result, it's almost like they did have all of African DNA counted! my mind has been changed since watching Henry Louis Gates segment on African history. Thanks for the video.
