Ya know, I shoot on a an EOS 1-N nowadays because I am one of those stupid hipsters that wanted a point and shoot but also look like I mean what I do and I can use my EOS lenses with autofocus because I actually suck at photography.

Interesting to see the Sony 24-70 f4. I've seen a lot of hate for it on accounts of it just being 'okay' & not 'amazing', especially for its launch price of $1200+. But when I was trying to downsize my bag before my second trip to Tanzania earlier this year (2020) & wanted an 'okay' lens that would let me shoot both stills & videos on my A7 ii without having to carry extra weight & bother with swapping lenses, a used 24-70 in perfect condition for £459 turned out to be the perfect idea! I think a lot of people get caught up on chasing 'the best' & fail to appreciate that they honestly just need 'good enough'.
That stack of lenses really made uncomfortable!

There is one thing I've learned in this lockdown, there is only so many times you can take photographs of your back garden..
Then take pictures of some random person's "garden" haha
Get a drone and take pictures of everybody's gardens, and their houses, and them, and them in their houses. Your neighbors will love you.
Get a macro lens, limitless possibilities. Or do some light painting. Same story.
I recently got a 70-300mm lens just before the lock down, I find I'm going outside in the garden and trying to photograph the wildlife around me.

A friend and I used to have 'Prime days' where we'd only go out with a single prime lens to practice shooting just with that. Was a lot of fun.

Photography is interesting because not a lot of photographers study the history of photography. It’s humbling to see what photos were taken with manual film cameras (some of the greatest of all time!!) and compare that to contemporary photographers, who - one might say - put too much weight on the newest and greatest specs, as opposed to the simplest things like composition, lighting, and subject.
Haven’t laughed that hard in a while 😂 Especially with Lok in the skit, the “dead cat” in the cage, and the random goose flying overhead.

I sold my Oly kit and a bag of primes for a X100V. Loving the simplicity of a tiny bag. So far the only thing I miss from the old kit is the MFT Laowa 7.5 rectilinear lens. I didn’t realize how often I used that ultra wide.

It's so nice to have someone with a great influence here on UA-cam to tell us the things we don't want to hear but we know to be true. I've got 8 different 50mm lenses so.. felt kinda bad after this video haha

I got rid of a lot of old gear I had sitting around. My old Rebel T3i that I learned on went to a family member who needed a camera and couldn't afford one when their old SL died. Finally sold my old Sony A6000 that I never used. Was just sitting in a drawer collecting dust.
For my personal work, I use my EOS R with a couple EF lenses (either my Sigma Art 35/50 or my EF 24-70). When I go out to shoot street or travel, I bring my Leica M240 with me with only 35mm and 50mm Summarit-M lenses and occasionally when traveling, the 90mm Elmarit-M. It's perfect for that. I have an EOS 80D that I keep for backup but never take out with me anymore. Keep it around for the rare instance I want to shoot sports or wildlife.
Then I've got two film cameras - a Canon A-1 with the FD 50mm f/1.4 and a new-ish to me Leica IIIf with a 5cm Summarit f/1.5 lens. Never swap lenses on the film cameras. I love working with the 50mm focal length on film. Use the Canon when I need to shoot quickly and the Leica when shooting slower. I'm happy with only a couple cameras now and only having the lenses I need.
That Leica MP costs almost half of my entire photo gear ownership, which includes two Canons. Maybe next lifetime.
Kai has sussed it, while we're on lockdown, get Lok down....... You two keep us all smiling through this virus crap, keep safe the both of you :)

It's easy not to change/upgrade your gear when you have so much variety on hand.. I still struggle my really old d90, with bad sensor but a 35mm 1.8.. I used to take photographs with my not so smart smartphone which is now just a coaster on my coffee table.. I, for sure, need an upgrade..

Hi Kai, you're partially responsible for why I switched back to film. I had a Leica M8, then bought a minty M6 to try and fell in love with it. Several years later I now shoot mostly with a pair of Hasselblads, the SWC and a 501 with the 100mm Planar. Lockdown is a good time to get into the darkroom.
Can’t wait for storage locker to be auction. Hahahaha.
The David Burnett combo camera is still the best thing I ever had in my camera bag! Now I just need something that will do a similar job but is a bit smaller :D

In 2019 the only lens I shot with was the Nikon 50mm F/1.8 on a Nikon D7100. I only do street photography at the moment but I highly recommend forcing yourself to shoot with only ones lens. It doesn't have to be a whole year but maybe a month or two. I believe you gain a whole new perspective doing so. Great content as always Kai !

Very cool! I find myself on the side of "I carry a few lenses because I don't want to miss anything" but I would certainly love to switch to a lightweight 1-lens workflow. I typically don't mind the extra weight and with a sling bag I just swing around, it's not too hard to swap lenses quick.

Ive been using a 50mm 2.0 Meike on a Lumix GX7 for 2 years now. A little over 85% of my shots were taken with this combo. :) I enjoy the tight fov and its range, enough to really distance myself from the subject and compact enough to not be noticed much. This is what i bring all day everyday whenever i leave the house. Less is more because its all i could afford at the moment... Lol

Kai, starting with lenses, ask to remove all lenses from its set area and make a pile. Then, go through each lens and ask yourself if there is value in keeping it (does it bring you joy?). If you choose to discard it, thank the lens for serving its purpose and move on. Do the same for cameras. Cannie Kon...:):)

I quite literally only use one lens nowadays, the excellent (albeit pretty boring) tamron 17 to 70 2.8 on my alpha 6300. Really declutters your life.

I'm with @babystenerud Hand sanitizer or antiseptic wipes and a mask are a must. Kai, looks like you had 5 cameras in that bag and that's before any extra lenses. That seems overwhelming to me.
I have 3 cameras in 2020. Sony A7R2, Sony A5100, and a Nikon FA film camera from 1983 (for when I feel the urge). Might up/downgrade the A7R2 to a A7IV when it comes out depending on the spec. I would definitely upgrade the A5100 if Sony ever made something that small in their APS-C line again (fits in a jacket pocket when skiing). I am yearning for a Leica Q2.... maybe in a few years....

I mean...my favorite 50mm lens is the Tamron 45mm f/1.8...because 50mm is just too constricting...there I said it...plus the 28mm focal length is freaking SWEET!!!
