I agree Kareem, this product is awesome and my favourite Serato DJ controller. It has extremely comprehensive options including the ability to add Roland Aira, Roland System 1/1m & Roland Boutique products via the 2 Aira Link ports as well as midi out and DVS, it's a great product. Thanks again for the video Kareem
I'm just curious was Pioneer involved in this at all? I just say that because of the loop section, The SCFX, The sampler volume middle fader (That might not have been a Pioneer thing but the SX was the first time I saw it), The track load buttons, The dual deck feature and the Beat FX per channel select. I think it would be a really cool company collab LOL
***** True, but who knows they completely dominate the industry. Maybe not the controller market so much so though. Maybe Roland just borrowed a few design features from them, to my knowledge this is Rolands first DJ Controller so why not design it off of the widely considered "best" in the business
They DEFINITELY used the Pioneer model, but Pioneer didn't willingly give them the info to engineer this... It was more using the Serato based play needs that almost all big time serato DJ controllers use today...
***** Yeah I was thinking about it and Pioneer doesn't seem like they would do that. They're all about money lol they make great products in my opinion and i'm definetly a fanboy. But they're just a bit overpriced lol think about it how can the CDJ 200NXS2 cost the same as the CDJ 2000NXS with a brand new touch screen and all the feature upgrades. I think because they had a lot of room price wise LOL.
I'm pretty sure there is a volume slider for the sounds in the Sampler at the top in the TR section. Different sounds have different volume settings based on the sliders...
DJbooth DJ's -- All good. Thanks anyway. I Just thought you might have that info or an approximation but I'll check it out. Thanks again for the reply.
The only thing with Windows is the lower model PC's such as i3 will perform better than i5 or i7 for DJing because it's more direct (quicker loading) rather than going through so many processors as the i7 has. i5and i7 come in handy when working with 3D software or Cad programs.
Not much more to say about the Midi out other than it works and you connect the MIDI cable to any MIDI device and it will sync... Just as it would with any drum machine...
DJbooth Pro Audio true but this is a break through for serato. Serato never had this technology before. Traktor always had this feature from the start.
It's not really a Serato feature... Its a Roland TR Drum machine feature... The Drum machine can sync with Serato so by default Serato Syncs with whatever the TR MIDI is syncing with... But you can also use Ableton Link to sync anything with anything via USB...
DJbooth Pro Audio yes that's what use with Serato too. I use Ableton link to link with Serato and traktor and ableton mixes too. Finally we can see more team work with DJs and producers remixing live!
I know it's not the most important aspect but that is one pig ugly controller, it looks like something from the 80s rather than the 21st century. When your paying this kind of money you (well, me at least) want the kit to look nice and that is where Pioneer do well over the competition.
to me this is just to much.. are we in the day and age where 2 turntables and a mixer is not enough to Rock a crowd?? Seriously 4 channels?? and even worse than that .. the bloody SYNC button! REAL DJ's don't need it! it looks good though but i hate jog wheels with a passion anything less than a spinning platter has no interest to me...
Grinsekator well DJ's should care about their gear to some extent but over kill is still over kill the Numark NS7 has been the Only controller I've liked cause of the spinning platters and that's as far as I go...
***** Well right now I'm using a first generation S2.. one of my pitch faders is messed up from my club days a few years back. I'm looking to get into more private parties and well just be a bedroom hero again. I WOULD like to start production but hey every DJ says that. I really love the look and feel of the Pioneer stuff though. Always wanted it because of the name I guess XD
niceprince The Roland dj 808 hands down..the soundcard on this sounds way better than the pioneer sz...The sound quality on the roland is the best of any controller out to date..it sounds just as good or even better tban my rane 62...the platters are also the best platters out on a controller to date lowest latency controll...
They have not made mixers in a long time, but they support all of their other gear very well... Roland created MIDI so they know what they are doing...
This was my first pick for a controller, just because you can use Ableton with it! Thanks for the reviews! I am waiting for a great deal on this one!!
I agree Kareem, this product is awesome and my favourite Serato DJ controller. Finally got this monster.. Its tight. Best out there for real.
I wish Pioneer could react and own the Key Sync feature too on their controllers! really liked that feature
hope you don't mind I will shout out you and your video for my Monday breakdown.
Great review my man yaaaaaaaa buddy. keep it up you rock. Wishing you all the best.
Can't wait till I get mine. Been contemplating since the induction and after your review, I don't foresee any buyer's remorse. :)
Did you get your Dj 808 yet? Im considering buying it.
Excellent review...waited a while for a review like this.
Thanks man, i wanted to go over everything in this one...
Can't wait to see a solid review of the Ddj rzx!
its coming!
Another question, how would you use the Pitch Slider if you wanted to do the Keylock and increase increment of 25% 50% and so on?
I'm just curious was Pioneer involved in this at all? I just say that because of the loop section, The SCFX, The sampler volume middle fader (That might not have been a Pioneer thing but the SX was the first time I saw it), The track load buttons, The dual deck feature and the Beat FX per channel select. I think it would be a really cool company collab LOL
They could have, but I don't know if they would be cool with giving the competitors any advantages...
***** True, but who knows they completely dominate the industry. Maybe not the controller market so much so though. True indeed... they know what they are doing...
Good overview, I got the DJ 202 the other day and the shit's tight. Definitely want to save up and get the 808 next.
So much choice, what do I choose!!! Rz RX or hardcore 808?? lol.. Man I Hate knobs on the front of controllers!!
I saved your review for last... Looking hard for a great 4 channel set up, tight jog wheels with remixes on the fly in mind.. thank you.
Nice review. Did you say "Sync with Traktor" at 19:14? I am sure you meant Serato.
LOL, yeah, I meant Serato
Im sure you can MIDI map to traktor too.
in the roland settings change to fader setting to 0 ... default is 1 and you get a better cut
What settings? I didn't see any Roland settings... Is this in Serato or in a Roland setting program? Where do I download the program if so?
the manual has all the settings that are changed . power on the dj808 holding the panel button puts it in settings mode on the actual controller
The volume on my TR/Sampler channel is much lower then when I'm playing tracks through the other channels? Am I missing something?
I'm pretty sure there is a volume slider for the sounds in the Sampler at the top in the TR section. Different sounds have different volume settings based on the sliders...
Great review as usual. Thanks for sharing Kareem. Question? You say it's really heavy. Can you tell us how heavy? Thanks bro.
Sorry, check out amazon OR the roland website for the specs...
DJbooth DJ's -- All good. Thanks anyway. I Just thought you might have that info or an approximation but I'll check it out. Thanks again for the reply.
Looks nice!

Great review as always bro..
Thanks!
Which one's better the 707m or 808
It's the 808 for me!
@@RealDJblaze thank you bro you are the best out there we love your presentation skills.
@@justynssagan6156 Thank you, I appreciate that!
I got a 2016 HP laptop with SSD.. Do I really need a MacBook to DJ?? Some of my friends told me to return my windows 10 PC
no you dont... your computer will work fine...
DJbooth DJ's Ok Thanks Bro 👍

Cool beats with drum effects..😎🎧🎛
You don't need a computer???
Can you use a ubs stick instead?
Appreciate your input 👍
Much blessings 🙌
Ty
🎛🎛🎧🎧🎤🎤😎👍
i watched another review who said you need to program the xfader to 0 as its factory set to 1 so it cuts in straight away
I believe this is true, but i didn't get the chance to test it when I had it...
this is true...I use it at 1
Fuck Pioneer I’m going with Roland
Do the players out put any midi signals at all on stand alone mode? Or in any mode?
The whole surface including all controls are MIDI mapable...
Did you mean sync up with Serato or Traktor at the end of the video?
LOL, i meant Serato...
DJbooth DJ's i figured but you can ableton link them with traktor though
How much does DDJ808 cost?
Yep time to save my money
Hope you will if talented. I mean it. Cheers
Does anyone know how to add synchronized keyboard arpeggios to the DJ-808 or at least hook up and use a keyboard such as the Akai MPK249?
Use a MIDI cable...
DJbooth Pro Audio simple enough but what about the settings. I would love to see someone show the details
So with that midi input I can connect a Maschine mk3? Hmmmm
yup, or anything else MIDI...
Can this be used with virtual DJ?
Yes it can.
Wish you spoke more about the MIDI out
Not much more to say about the Midi out other than it works and you connect the MIDI cable to any MIDI device and it will sync... Just as it would with any drum machine...

does it give you effects to the mic .like .echo
Yes it does.
Does it have post fader effects?
Yes it does!
Thanks Kareem.
does it have 16 hot cues or just 8???
8 per side or more if the software has more...
ROLAND IS THE SHIT THEY REALLY BOSSED UP WITH THIS CONTROLLER THEY JUST SHIT ON A LOT STUFF OUT THERE OH DID I say IT WAS A ROLAND
Anyone know how I can configure this in Ableton live 10?
can the new rolland boutique 303 be linked to this
I believe so... Not 100% sure though
Does it need a computer to work
Yes it does need a computer to work...
Today there is a ton of these preowened on eBay.seems people buy it and don’t like it. Smh
so the 808 or the NS7 ii
It depends... NS7 if you want spinning platters and the 808 if you don't care..
ADD the Roland VOCODER to this!!! Why NOT???? add a needle drop strip!!!! Screens???
Crazy
very very tight ....... Z
Roland DJ-808 Controller looks like the ugly version of ddj sx2 they should made the jog wheels bigger
I know it's not the most important aspect but that is one pig ugly controller, it looks like something from the 80s rather than the 21st century.
When your paying this kind of money you (well, me at least) want the kit to look nice and that is where Pioneer do well over the competition.
They probably did this purposely. Mostly all Roland gear looks like an 80's throwback piece. Check out the rest of their lineup...
to me this is just to much.. are we in the day and age where 2 turntables and a mixer is not enough to Rock a crowd?? Seriously 4 channels?? and even worse than that .. the bloody SYNC button! yeah. like that ultra huge ns7 with it's mostly useless spinning wheels isn't gimmicky as hell.
William Giraud yeah i agree only reason I'm here because the drum part
Why even view the video 😂
looks like the ugly version of ddj sx2 lol
This or DDJSZ hmmm
That's a hard one... I like the SZ a lot but the TR-S sets this apart for me...
***** Well right now I'm using a first generation S2.. one of my pitch faders is messed up from my club days a few years back. Ronald Ventour I'm kind of worried about support for the product. Are roland mixers well supported?
They have not made mixers in a long time, but they support all of their other gear very well... Roland created MIDI so they know what they are doing...
the drum sequencer makes the controller look rubbish
it's ugly design
I wish I can speak like this guy, how doesn't he stutter???
P4boot normal people don't stutter
hope you don't mind I will shout out you and your video for my Monday breakdown.
Sure use away! Thanks for checking it out.
Great thank you so much
just posted hope you like it
Do I need a computer or can it be used without
You can use the Roland TR and VT without a computer, but you will need a computer to playback music files through Serato...
