This may be the first time Mary Chapin Carpenter appeared on Letterman? I am also searching for Sept 9, 1996, when Letterman show went abroad to London because there is a partial clip of it interviewing Jamie Lee Curtis and Tony Curtis that included an announcement of the other guests due to appear that show, naming Mary Chapin Carpenter also. Anybody, I welcome links.
Not only that, but they're libertarian morons who think that doing away with 99% of laws, regulations, and government oversight will make everything just wonderful. You can trust big business to police itself! They think the only legitimate function of government is to protect the property rights of the wealthy.
One of the best Top Ten Lists ever.
David and Paul imitating Johnny and Ed is priceless!
By the way, those horn players are Al Chesnovitz and Bruce Kapler, who would join Shaffer full-time on CBS at some point during its run.
Jason Nadle
Al Ches wasn't added until a year or 2 later than the rest of the horn section.

That's the classic CBS Orchestra right there!
The show was on NBC then!
Oof.

They're violating Carson's rules! They had a horn section, David doing Carnac and Paul sitting in the guest chair..
Sometimes, rules are meant to be broken.
33:14 Frightening to imagine how close we came to being deprived of the Barbara Gaines Show.
@24:30 introduction of Mary Chapin Carpenter. (Wish I could hear the very brief chat with her at the end of the song.)
Milli Vanilli may not have sang but their music was great.
Did their ghost singers ever go public and put out their own album?
@@jedijones I mean I would have bought it, but the image of Milli Vanilli was cool and a part of the package
