While I agree with many people that Sir Tim is a legend in the industry he does say things which can stir things up a little. His criticism at Dubai of the durability of the T-XWB-97 was not warranted. The aircraft engine manufacturers are under pressure to produce evermore economical engines while at the same time making them just as reliable & durable. This is very difficult & costly to achieve, but in fact RR have done it with T-XWB. This is backed-up by some very decent orders recently from airlines that have been operating B777-300ER`s namely KLM, JAL, Korean, EVA, Ethiopian & Delta. There will be many more to come because this airframe wether it be -900 or -1000 is a proven & known quantity. Qatar, Cathay, BA, Virgin, French-Bee have been using -1000 successfully for sometime hence the more recent orders. Emirates not ordering -1000 will not deminish it`s booming order book.
The Trent 1000 was a failure on the 787 and more operators of this defective engine will be switching to the GEnx engine for their future 787 aircraft. Air New Zealand are still struggling because ot the Trent 1000 with some of their 787s unable to fly. Unethical business practices including overpromising engine performance by RR also adds to their woes.

It is un-proven for both the airframe and GE engines.
Emirates has ordered 65 A350-900s.. to help replace the A380 along side the 777. Their first aircraft is built, and doesn’t have engines yet but- Emirates was always gonna go with the 777X aswell, as the A380 can only seat 400 something. And the extra capacity is needed to help replace it.
The A350 is a successful aircraft flying for years now. The B77x is an old tech aircraft that is no where near flying as yet. Clark will change his mind and dump the 777

Emirates only hates the Rolls Royce XWB-97 turbofan engines on the Airbus a350. They do not hate the Airbus a350 airframe.
