Great work as always Chris, well done and thank you. I love the Battle of Britain theme....often listen to it when I'm doing weights at the gym....if that tune doesn't get you going then nothing will 💪👊😉
I have sat in the cockpit of that Spit! When I was 11, my late Dad and I visited and we were the only ones there. After getting a private tour from the guide and him finding out how flying and history mad I was, he let me sit in it for ten minutes! Unforgettable! I can even remember the smell! ❤
i wanted to video both museums...but i only got the time to do one before getting called back to care for mum....still, i managed this footage and got out of the house for 3 hours or so
Many a happy summer wandering to Manston, lived in Margate, to watch the flying. Later as an ATC cadet flying in Chipmunks. Finally I was detached to Manston, as a Medic, to assist with the closure of the Fire Training School and cover an Easter break. I recall being told by an old pilot, flew the Chippy's, that the Sergeants Mess block was haunted. Supposedly people would feel an invisible presence brush past them and get a cold shiver in one of the corridors. Anyway, great to see the museum again, looks wonderful. Thanks for the watch mate.
This looks like a great place to visit. The history to be soaked up, of those aircraft, the brave men who flew in them. Got to be in there with the RAF Tangmere museum. Our wee aviation museum acquired a replica Spitfire Mk I or II cockpit and half fuselage section. Love the museum footage too, along with the good choice of soundtrack. Thanks for sharing your visit to the RAF Manston museum.
Great stuff, Chris, and so glad that you managed to get out of the house, if even for half a day. I'd like to visit this museum one day as it looks so interesting. Did you pick up on any unseen presences? Tonight is the 80th anniversary of the last mission of Lancaster JB701 - shot down returning from a sortie to Stuttgart. I shall remember the crew at 22.24 when they took off from RAF Fiskerton on 28th July 1944...Per Ardua ad Astra. Best!
Anyone else hear Christopher Plummer say "Help yourself, there's no fighter escort", or "Home and tea, for once you've deserved it". I did. I must get out more, to some aviation museums preferably.
have you any idea how ill this made me.... got there and had to sit for 15 minutes..... when i got home the world was spinning, i felt like id just run a marathon then got beaten up....couldnt even get the bike boots off....better now after a few hours and an hours sleep....ffffffg long covid
as i keep saying...i'm stuck in East kent as a carer 24/7...this was the first time i've had any time to myself to go somewhere in 2 years...i was lucky enough to get 16 miles to manston and have an hour or so there before being summoned back to carer duty......at present my life is not my own

@@British-Hauntings-and-History I'm sorry to hear that but at least you managed to have some much needed time to yourself.

Take it easy, mate. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
The Hurri IIc in its 1942 scheme looks really well and its a pity that its operational life in the ETO was soon to end!
