I genuinely really like this series, and I think it’s better because it focuses a lot less on duel monsters. I like duel monsters a lot, but in the newer shows the fact they focus ENTIRELY on it wears me out. I guess having more varied games makes the series better for me. When they actually have duel monster fights in this show it’s more interesting to watch because they don’t do it every episode. And the fact the characters are more developed and less focused on the card related stuff just genuinely makes it a good series even if you’re not a yugioh fan. You can just watch the show and enjoy everything happening.

      Exactly!
I find it to be repetitive that every episode of any yugioh show, no matter what, involves dueling.
And I'm more interested in the slice of life aspect and getting to know the characters more, and diving into their lives.
Even the filler episodes involve a duel, I get that it's a show about card games, and I love that, but after a while it gets repetitive.
Plus all I wanted was just one filler slice of life episode without any dueling involved, is that too much to ask?

You two are totally right! This series was awesome because all episodes had a surprise effect and an epic ending simply cause the games were different and intense! So the series is easier to take seriously! I curse people having harassed late Kazuki Takahashi for making him basing the entire series on cards! Because of them, the Season 0 is a cancelled masterpiece and Duel Monsters is an improved clone of Pokémon TV show!

I agree fully. I love season 0 for that characters like Anzu and Honda actually have PERSONALITY. My favourite character is Ryou that's why I'm struggling watching DM, because there so little screentime of him. But when it comes to season 0 - I don't even need Ryou on screen to enjoy it. It's something that makes this season so special to me.

Ahem. Why Yu-Gi-Oh! Season 0 is the BEST Yu-Gi-Oh! Anime. Aight jokes aside, season 0 is something that I get excited about when ever hear it. I've rewatched it so many times, I've re-read the first 6 volumes time and time again, and I've played all of the pre-2000s Konami games that feature these characters. There's something about the feel and the aesthetic of each individual character that makes me excited when mentioning Season 0. It's definitely one of my favourite animes by a long shot, and you know what it's the most defining one for me.
Edit: Title was different when this comment was made.

"Yugi never punishes Kaiba at all"
That is simply not true. If we're going by the original source the Anime is based on, Yugi punished Kaiba on his first duel after he top decked the stolen Blue-Eyes, trapping him in a card and making him suffer death by the hands of the Duel Monsters, and heck, even in the second duel, if you look at it in a certain way, Yugi punishes Kaiba again, he Mind Crushes Kaiba, putting him in a coma so that he can "rebuild his heart" and he stays in that coma until midway through the Fake Kaiba duel in Duelist Kingdom. And in Duelist Kingdom (The Manga version), I'm pretty sure he used the Punishment Game on Weevil and Fake Kaiba, meaning he still kept punishing people in games they "cheated", regardless if they're people who just made a wrong turn at life or not

The Spirit of the puzzle wouldn't officially stop using Punishment games up until Yugi stopped him from killing Kaiba leading to him than refusing to give Pegasus a punishment game latter (that is if I called that part correctly)
Also, you are absolutely right even in the Toie anime did the Spirit still used the Penalty game Mind Crush on Kaiba to shatter his dark heart in the hope he has enough good in him to rebuild himself again.

Loved watching this season! But was also shocked at how sadistic the manga was (the “BLLOOD” game was a LOT more messed up in the manga version! It may not have been death, but still!)
And you brought up a really interesting point about Yami Yugi in this: initially he does punish those whom have done wrong, but with Mokuba there’s a realisation that there is an alternative with forgiveness and giving others a chance to redeem themselves.

The reasons why I love Season 0 are:
1 - Different games were cool and brought some surprises, originality and tension, that was the original base of Yu-Gi-Oh! and it should have continued. I will never forgive people having pushed the late Takahashi to abandon everything but cards. The charm of the series was the variety of games, the variable danger degree, and the dark and mysterious personality of Yami Yugi.
2 - I love how Atem's character is more balanced in Season 0 than in the manga and the next series! In the manga he is officially sadistic, in Duel Monsters, he is officially heroic, but in this Season 0, he is balanced between the hero and punisher sides: his punitions don't kill anyone but scares them enough, and he is ready to spare people who learned by themselves their mistakes. Dark Yugi from Season 0 is what we can call a honorable anti-hero. An anti-hero with a sense of honor. Even if I have nothing against his heroic Duel Monster representation. But his manga version is too much unsympathetic so it's hard to like it (for example, in the manga, Yami gave Kaiba a very sadistic Penalty Game so Kaiba used Death-T as revenge. In the anime, Yami has a tie with Kaiba and leaves him alone. That makes a good reason to support Yami more than Kaiba.)
Also, the voice. Megumi Ogata is way better than Shunsuke Kazama to show an innocent Yugi and a badass Yami. Long life to her. I wish she dubbed them also in Duel Monsters (but with a change in the artstyle, it would be a little weird to hear her voice in the current drawings of Duel Monsters, at least after the 2 first seasons. Maybe with the artstyle of the 1999 movie?).

I liked Yugi's voice changing - it was like a reminder that he's going through puberty. It was the perfect teenager voice for me. I just don't like Yami's in DM - he's just enunciating, and I don't think it works as well here.

The concept of a dark spirit of a long-deceased games master that possesses the body of a young boy to challenge others to death games is genius. It would be a pity to limit such a concept to card games. One can certainly be a big fan of Yugi-oh from that angle, without being obsessed with duel monsters - tho the card game still rocks.

I love this "season 0" so much. I find myself enjoying this more than the Duel Monsters series. I agree with everything in this video and I want to add something that this video did not talk about: why the characters here are portrayed better than the DM series:
Yugi/Yami - I love that their personalities here are more different than DM. Yami is much more interesting as a dark psycho than the goodie two shoes in DM. Yugi himself is more innocent and childish making this story an interesting case if a supernatural split personality. and Yugi being physically weak and more childish prevent him from being a Gary Stu he became in DM.
Jonouchi - the entire DM series always tried to portray him as "second best to Yugi". but in "Season 0" it seems they are equal. I feel his personal life, his "out of game" life gets more attention despite it being only for one episode. I love that he wasn't a full bully to Yugi like he was in DM (pre-show).
Honda - in DM he basically was "Smart Joey". almost same personality but a little bit smarter braver. in season 0 he was dorkier and dramatic and a decent comic relief.
Anzu - this is a huge diffretne. in DM the fans mock her about her friendship speeches she was a Mary Sue and many times it seems that her role is shifted to be "the girl" of the group. but in season 0 she was snarkier and got more personal. her dream of being a dancer got more attention (despite it being mentioned only in three episodes). Despite she was a damsel in distress some episodes, her personality makes up for it.
Miho - I do admit that she wasn't the best character and the creators should have kept her personality the same as the manga. But I love her dynamic with Anzu. and this dynamic is maybe the best reason she should have been in DM as well (with some changes in her personality). the addition of Miho prevented Anzu from being just "the girl" of the group because there are two girls, and I think her crush on Bakura could add a more interesting and dramatic story for DM and I wonder how she would deal with Yami Bakura in DM
the episodes themselves were more interesting because every episode was a different game it feels like the character themselves are more than excuses to sell cards,
maybe it's a minor subject, but I feel like season 0 has much better female representation than any other season of DM. not just because we can see more females on screen but their dynamic is better. every other attempt to add more females in DM failed, Anzu always hated the new girls, aside from Shizuka, but they barely intersected. Mai was treated awfully in the show. and in season 0 there were female background characters, rare things in DM. and there are four episodes with female villains, a thing that never was in DM (aside from Mai in season 5).
and as a horror lover, I love the darker theme of season 0. I wish Toei could produce the rest of the show

I totally agree with you except about that you said about the both Yugi. I found Yugi, even if he is very cute, is less courageous and that was a shame. And about Yami, I found he is very well characterized in Duel Monsters and I love how kind and sweet he is. He is calm and kind in the same time. And even in Duel Monsters, he isn't totally kind either, he was in full development, just the English censored 4Kids version made him like you think being "goodie two shoes" (only their version shown Yami and Yugi very close although in the original, their relationship develops. Why my beloved French version chosen this version ?). But in Japanese, it's more complex than just "good". But I can't hate Yami in Duel Monsters. He is too appealing and kind for I can be so annoyed. However, I don't love his Japanese voice in Duel Monsters and love too much his voice from Season 0. I was marked by the impertinence and the strong personality of Yami in the Season 0. He looks like more intimidating and charismatic. I talk about his impertinence but I don't think I would be so marked by that without the great performance of Megumi Ogata. However, I wouldn't describe him like a dark psychopath because actually he's not that different from his Duel Monsters incarnation because he already spared and saved certain opponents, and all his Penalty Games are just illusions compared to the manga. So I think saying Yami is maniac in the Season 0 isn't the good word. He can look pretty scary but he has a depth and he seems to hide a good background.
But I agree with the rest. And it's really a good notice you said about the female representation, I didn't even noticed that. And what you said about the various games and the episodes which are naturally interesting is the exact reason why I defend ardently the Season 0. Because if there are more various games, that makes this anime mature and interesting, it's original, innovative, and furthermore, it allows a SURPRISE effect in the entire series ! It allows too to characters to show their own capacities and not just being commercial decorations. You're all true.

The misconception I see with 5Ds is that people think it takes place in a far future from GX but the thing is it's only New Domino City that's futuristic and that's because of what happen with Seattle and the Ener-D reactor. Plus, it was stated that Trudge is in his 50s. Could be wiki bs but given how old Yugi was in GX there's a chance that 5ds could take place either 20 or 30 years after GX ended. Though Jack's line in Bonds Beyond Time would imply that Yugi is either dead or long sense retired from Duel Monsters.

@@retrogamer6403Slight spoilers : it’s more retired by the cannon , yugi grows up to develop his own game and other projects based on the dark side of dimensions movie and the 3 chapter prologue written by Takahashi himself before passing. So he’s considered a legendary duelist. His original deck from battle city minus the Egyptian gods were put on display in gx anime. Duel links very much references this every time you unlock a character.
So I am more inclined to believe it be 20-30 years in the future. Math adds up. Tetsu despite being huge is around the same age as yugi as a hall monitor bully. They did confirm from sources this is the same character in the anime and is intentional running gag for the first 3 series. In gx he is confirmed to have been on that list of missing domino residents when Trueman was hunting down duelists. And in 5DS he gets a scar on his face after his second duel with Yusei.
Does he get the shadow game punishment as he did in the manga. They did flashback to the bullying but didn’t really show how that’s resolve.
In the manga though if they are the same person, tetsu didn’t learn his lesson or forgot it due to his pride and still commits to imposing his power through his physique and positions. Only to lose in his duels

Season 0 is my favorite, too! We get a different angel of the thriller/horror/mystery that encapsulates the series, and the creativity is by far the best part of story! Having clear proof that his powers aren't strictly tied to the cards is the coolest part, hands-down. It really leans in to the vast power he's said to have, and also how vast magic is meant to be, to be able to see it in practice like this. It really makes the fear and power surrounding the Millenium Items make that much more personal sense to see it's use in the hands of an unhinged teenage vigilante in a "modern" setting. I just wish the show had episodes where the power was shown with other items and circumstances, too, and not just the cards. Switching between the two would have been so amazing to see!
There's different stakes, different consequences, and all to fit the different circumstances that brought Yami out. I also just find Yami such a fun form of unhinged - he's such a scattered and upset part of himself right now, and all he has to go on are Yugi's memories, and it's just such an amazing way to anazlyze not only him and Yugi, but everyone else, too. Yami forming his own relationships with everyone at the same time as Yugi, is so fascinating, especially since this was before they were the tight-nit group we become familiar with.
Honda/Tristan surprised me most - I wasn't sure what personality I expected him to have before everything, but it wasn't that. Yugi and Tea/Anzu being more distant family acquaitances under the umbrella of childhood friends is also interesting, and seeing them develop to form a more present friendship was great, too, especially since as distant as she was, she always cared about him in one form or another. Joey/Jonouchi being his former bully honestly suits them so well!

@@legend_2543 I wish they allowed more of the show to just not be so heavily focused on the cards. Like 75/25 or something. I mostly zone out as the duels go on, only watching the cool monsters and who's getting hurt in it, but it becomes repetitive so quickly. There IS character development and progression within the main series, but they take a backseat to the cards, too. Letting some of that conflict come from something other than the cards and letting us go on the emotional journeys without having to do 3 duels first would help things hit so much better! These kids were still in school and the duels were _still_ the vast majority of what they were doing. 5d's was some post-apocalyptic city and dueling WAS their job and we STILL got more time without card games to progress the plot. GX had the excuse of being a literal dueling school, and at least many of the early ones weren't that important, and they knew that.

@@legend_2543 DM IS just Season 0 continued, it's just like a few months later, if that. If you read the manga, which is mostly the same minus Miho isn't a friend, another smaller story arc near the end and very minor differences, it concludes with a final fight against Kaiba, and the anime starts off with that fight with MUCH less context. It should be the episode where Kaiba has a meme-able gaunt face as he gets blasted when he loses, in like the first episode. The main difference is that Takahashi clearly meant to basically retcon a few things, but still based the vast majority of DM on Season 0. Season O's manga is just called "Yu-Gi-Oh!" will DM is "YGO: Duel Monsters." They are direct sequels of each other.
The main reason things got so card-heavy was likely because his publisher or whoever had a deal where he HAD to feature a lot of card fights as part of licensing the game for marketing purposes. YGO is THE mainstream game/toy series that made other companies want to create copycats like it for a reason. Takahashi still managed to put in an insane amount of heart while his series was turned into a long commercial. YGO was such a success that they likely relaxed a bit by the time the other series came about, so they were able to do less. It was tedious to watch, so I bet they were looking for a change of pace too since they produced it.
I fully blame marketing issues for the tedious battles, and I love Season 0 for the same reason - allows the heart to be at the forefront, the magic serves great worldbuilding while also being just plain fun, and the spooky vibes are immaculate. The excessive battling genuinely dulls down DM for me. I wouldn't appreciate the cast as much if I didn't get to enjoy them coming together in Season 0, either.

Something that sets Yugioh apart from a lot of "power of friendship gives the protagonist a last minute power up" cliche shounen's is that Yugioh is actually about friendship. It's not really about the games at the end of the day, it's about the character relationships. Sure, other shounen have character relationships as a side plot, but usually they're actually about fighting or whatever and the friendship thing is just shoehorned in as a trope. Duel Monsters was a bit of a step back in this regard. Sure, it was still a vitally important part of the show, but the core of the show shifted from "the importance of friendship" to "card games deciding the fate of the world (what do you mean 'Just shoot Marik with a .45?')" and "I bet you can't wait to use this card IRL."

I like your approach to Yami Yugi's character arc as he chooses to not punish Kaiba.
In the manga it doesn't go that way, but since the manga isn't just season 0 but the whole story, I prefer that Yami leaved Kaiba hospitalized for a year; because in the manga they really nail on the Pharaoh's vigilante nature, he's a dark avenger and that's how he rolls, no mercy.
This is pretty significative in the manga because, as happens in Duel Monsters, Yami was going to finish off Kaiba on their battle at Duelist Kingdom, before the original Yugi took control and stopped him, even though he too wanted to win, beat Pegasus and save his grandpa (and the prize money for Joey).
That's a very powerful scene in the original manga even more so than in the anime, because we got that context, that the original Yugi, unlike his dark alter-ego, is willing to sacrifice his objectives for the sake of others, because "that's the right thing to do", even if said person doesn't deserve it or if it's not "true justice".
The Pharaoh learned a lot from that battle, it's very important and ties well with the Yugi vs Joey (brainwashed) at Battle City.
Ultimately, since season 0 didn't got a real follow-up, it's nice that they did that with Yami Yugi, but if instead Toei continued adapting the Yu-Gi-Oh manga, I wouldn't have liked the scene.

I mean, the kid with a spider on his shirt comes back perfectly fine in battle city despite Yugi seemingly cracking his face open in a Shadow Game and leaving him lying on the floor. He's also the kid to whom Kaiba shows the power of Obelisk in Battle City, the moment which even made it into season 2. That, along with Ushio returning in 5Ds makes me think punishments Yugi gives out aren't permanent, well except for the thug in Burger World, that wasn't an illusion, it was vodka and fire.

Ushio is one of the few people who got off easy in the manga since he was put under an illusion believing he was surrounded by money and he got expelled from Domino High, which made it's way to the Duel Monsters anime as well and the dub even had Joey point this out.

Season 0 is the first Yu-Gi-Oh anime I watched. I first knew about the franchise from the massive collection of TCG cards that my big brother owned, and then I knew about the series' characters from the PS2 games, especially Duelists of The Roses. When I first search for if there's any Yu-Gi-Oh anime, season 0 is the first thing I watched, and I immediately fell in love with it after a couple of episodes, and was a bit sad after the last episode. After a while, I eventually discover the Duel Monsters anime, and how shocked I was to learn that it was all about effing children's card games now instead of the more cool shadow games. Not saying that all the series that comes after it is bad, but I really miss this kind of aspects from Yu-Gi-Oh, where Yami is a really menacing character that you definitely shouldn't f*cking around with lest you wanted yourself got burned into crisp, literally.

The Season 0 part of the Manga is just plain crazy, even ignoring how Kaiba had his world-famous company develop a series of death games out of spite at having lost 1 little card game to a classmate. Atem actually murders several people, including the guy at the burger place and a fellow student while setting up for the culture festival, both of whom are heavily injured and possibly killed with fire. Then there are the guys who fall from a height that no human would realistically survive falling from, as well as the guys that Atem electrocutes in one of the chapters. Shadi also murders the owner of a museum, and then kidnaps Anzu and plays a game with Atem with Anzu's life on the line. And of course, there's the whole Bakura arc, where the Millennium Ring literally embeds itself in Bakura's torso, all five spikes piercing his skin while blood pours from the wounds, and later in that arc, Yami Bakura literally stabs his own hand onto a tower-prop, just to make Bakura stop helping Atem.
I first bought the manga after watching several episodes of the anime, because the Duelist Kingdom arc started airing here before the manga was translated and released here, so I expected it to be much like the anime from the start. I was pretty surprised to find that the anime only really started about halfway through Volume 7 or something like that. The sheer amount of horror in the first parts was pretty surprising, when Duelist Kingdom was all I knew going in.
Oh, and the craziest part: Where I'm from, that manga was rated to be suitable for kids as young as 7 years old. There's blood, psychological torture, self-harm and people being killed over freaking games, and someone was just like "yeah, that's totally fine for a 7-year-old to read. What could possibly go wrong?"

If there's one nitpick that I have with Anime in comparison to Manga is that I like some of more severe Penalty-Games punishment from Manga a bit more, but the anime did a great job by both adding and remixing/rewriting some scenarios.
And I'm not a huge of Miho, because of what that did with Honda's character and her personality... but I can't say that the cast didn't benefit from having a one more girl character.

I’d really like to see a new adaptation of the early Yugioh manga (season 0) while it is darker in comparison to the later anime it’s not exactly a perfect adaptation miho kinda ruins Honda’s character and the first capsule monster duel between mokuba and yugi is switched up to be about some guy stalking miho 😑 kaiba actually receives a penalty game in the very first duel that inspires him to create his own virtual penalty games in the death T arc in the anime this duel oddly ends in a draw I believe other games played might have been changed or removed there was a game played with mokuba in the beginning of death T a sort of Russian roulette eating game that was cut from the anime
Overall early Yugioh could use an new adaptation from a technical standpoint most copies of it out there look rough I’d love to see an adaptation that maybe goes for a manga style similar to what jojo did something that makes the show pop and finally and perhaps controversially if the show gets an English dub I’d like to see a recast I grew up with the 4kids cast but if Yugioh were to get a new adaptation I’d like for them to ditch the Saturday morning cartoon perception and hopefully be seen as more of a shonen series it originally was

I mean, In Duelist Kingdom, there was that shadow game against the Player Killer of Darkness (I think his name was "Panic" in the eng dub of the anime), and Yami Yugi was pretty downright sadistic with the guy, although to be fair he was turning his own fear tactics back on him, but throughout that arc, he's still a darker personality. He does mellow out more when his main focus became the search for his memories and being friends with his other self, but if it wasn't Yugi that was chosen by the Puzzle, I wonder if he'd just remain another twisted "yami" spirit like Bakura and Marik.

It was supposed 3 be a manga about a guy who’s the king of games, he wins at everything, key word, Games, not Duel Monsters. It’s just, when Duel Monsters came around, the readers really loved the card game they played, and so the management of Shounen Jump convinced Kazuki Takahasi that it should focus on the card game, and now, here we are!😂

" Season 0 " or as I call it the original Toei Yugioh anime is the only Yugioh I care about. I didn't grow up watching the duel monster series as a kid like most did and I got into Yugioh by reading some of the manga ( some of the first few volumes my cousin gave to me ) and then found out about the Toei anime and started watching. I totally agree with you that the Toei anime is the absolute best anime and the " true Yugioh! " I loved Yugi and his group of friends so much and unlike in the Duel Monsters version they really truly do feel like absolute lifelong friends.
I wanna say I love Miho and I've always hated how she wasn't included in other versions. She may be a ditz but she's their friend and she is a nice girl. There's such love and friendship between the five characters in this one. Stuff like Honda seemingly " dying " for his friends in the Kaiba Land games and them all being so effected especially Miho , Jounouchi beating that martial artist to get back Yugi's millenium puzzle and the relationship Yugi and Anzu have were just such heartwarming things. The character interactions and bonds were just so wholesome and so well done! I just cannot stress enough how close those 5 friends truly feel to me.
I love how savage Yami Yugi could be and I don't consider it wrong at all lol. Like that " psychic " Kokurano who wanted to rape Anzu , he got off easy if anything lol. I remember him getting it much worse in the manga version where it was ironically less deserved. Also I feel Yugi didn't spare Kaiba so much as he just gave him the POSSIBILITY to reform. The whole point was that if Kaiba could pull himself back together and regain his humanity that he tried to throw away , remember the love he tried to rid himself of for his younger brother then he could redeem himself. That's how redemption works , it requires real soul searching and admitting of ones faults and wanting to change. Yugi didn't save Kaiba he merely gave Kaiba the chance to save himself. One last thing is Teoi anime is not exactly a true prequel since both it and the Duel Monsters version have two different versions of many of the same events.

Is it the best? Debatable, but I do think this season of Yugioh is the reason why I like “Yugi Muto” over “Yami Yugi.” For a cheerful boy, the millennium puzzle was shown to be his solution to making friends. However, the millennium puzzle couldn’t be solved in his usual state. Only when he was getting emotionally cornered, the millennium puzzle was getting solved. Getting cornered with his situation with Ushio, he almost completed the puzzle, only to find out he was missing a piece to complete it. He got the final piece when he put himself in a difficult situation where he was getting beat up to protect who he thought were his friends.
Once he solved it, he gained the power of the shadow games in the form of an alter ego with a near polar opposite personality to his. However, this alter ego of Yugi was cruel. He used the shadow games to corner those he saw as enemies and punish them harshly when they couldn’t play his game (aka get desperate and cheated.) Over time, their personalities started to blend with each other; Yami Yugi being more kind and Yugi Muto being a better leader of his group of friends. It concludes where the two Yugi’s duel each other in Duel Monsters (in the DM anime) where this sharing of personalities between the two completed, inheriting the good traits of both personalities.
Without Yugi Muto, Yami Yugi would be stuck in the millennium puzzle forever and even if the puzzle was solved, the only thing that would come out of the puzzle (if it can, but probably won’t since we learned that the spirit needs a proper vessel to house in DSoD) is an untamed sadistic spirit. Being the perfect vessel to make this ancient spirit into a hero out of his desire for friends is why I like Yugi Muto over Yami Yugi.

Just finished season 0 yesterday and I gotta say even though I enjoy both s0 and DM, season 0 does a better job in character development overall. The friend group of Anzu/Tea , Honda/Tristan and Miho they all seem like main characters instead of just sidekicks because the season is not just solely consist of a card game duel each episode. 2nd of all, the good characters are actually much more relatable in s0 f.e Yugi is always bullied and a lonely guy just like Ryou Bakura, also his screen time was so little in DM as if he wasn’t part of the friend group and there were lots of plot armors going on. In addition, villains of duel monsters feel more justified at the end of seasons for their actions such as Pegasus did all the bad things to save and bring back his wife, Marik was traumatized and misguided because of his forced duty to protect pharaohs tomb and Bakura literally faced a genocide in his village. In the end I still wonder how the story would evolve if cards weren’t a huge hit. I guess we’ll never find out 🤷‍♀️

You're bugging out ! The fact it's focus on Duel Monsters is THE fondamental error of the next show ! The force of the season was precisely the VARIETY, the fact Yu-Gi-Oh! isn't a pathetic commercial cartoon ! Are you crazy ?!

U didn't mention the 'Monster World! arc at all! What I thought is Yami Yugi became humane because the real menace was coming forward to him. I love Bakura tho, he's my fav YGO character, and I think he's rightful for his vengeance, your whole village getting slaughtered sure is a too hard thing to witness:(

Animated by Toei Animation rather than Studio Gallop (which worked on Duel Monsters all the way to Vrains), Season 0 looks almost nothing like the Yu-Gi-Oh! fans are used to. It isn't perfect adaptation from the manga but the anime did it better when it comes to presentation.
And i love how twisted and dark it is while showing a kind of friendship that overcome scary obstacles.
