Sensei Kimura stayed in our home for 2 weeks in South Africa in the mid 1970s when I was around 10 years old. He was very close to my dad and they trained nightly together in our lounge from 12pm-4am. A very odd time to train but that's what he preferred. In all the time he stayed with us, he slept in my bunk bed surrounded by dozens of posters of Bruce Lee. :D I remember him being a very kind man with a very strong prescense. He really was that good and lightning fast. I saw him training with my own eyes and as a young boy it was rather scary to see someone move so fast in real life. My dad was very fond of him and he too of my dad. Great memories. :)
@@Judestomp I was never interested in Karate. I was very young and as a teen it sadly didnt appeal to me. My dads name is Peter Raath. He taught and graded students in Roodepoort, Johannesburg, South Africa.
WOW, talk about a blast from the past. I did a short study period with him back in 1980 Hackensack, NJ. I found him to be a real BAD ASS. His teachings where great. I have adapted them to my own. I have GREAT respect for him...OUS
I took shukokai back in the 80's when I was a kid. The school was located in a dance school in fort lee and had the immense pleasure of meeting Sensei Kimura on several occasions. What an imposing figure he was and the power wow! Good times
Last few years of Sense Kimura life he really changed the style! The trick was not to know what was going to hit you! Shoulders, back, elbows, chin, hips and legs were in torque mode! But the hands were fluid! The best of the best!
Yes and for Judo Sensei friend Tomji Kidachi I learned from the best as well, 77 - 2004, Along with friend Yoni Yoneska. The three were at the top of their craft.
The first black and white film part is Kimura teaching the kata Annanku. The final part includes some of the Shukokai combinations 1-10. I would guess it is in the early 1970's from his style at the time and the haircuts... Many thanks for sharing
Wish we could find those Impact Pads that International World of KAM in Emerson NJ use to make for us! Wonder if his son is still around? He had some round house! Think his name was Steve?
Long answer if interested: Your probably thinking of Masahiko Kimura a Judo 7th Dan Master, whilst he did train in Karate under Gichin Funakoshi and later Masutatsu Oyama they are not the same person. Shigeru Kimura trained under Chojiro Tani a student under Kenwa Mabuni founder of Shito Ryu Karate. Short Answer: No they are different people

As a 16yr old who does this art I'm going to push even harder Osu
Kam industries in Emerson the owners name was Mel Klein, and his son’s name was Paul
Trés intéressant

va bene frustare il pugno ed usare contrazione/decontrazione ma la postura l equilibrio e la cinetica mi sembrano quantomeno aporossimative
