Ms. Meghan Marohn was my teacher from Chatham High School from 2014-2015. From any form of curriculum for me, from K-12 and undergrad. She was one of my favorite teachers. Thank you for everything, Ms. Marohn.

5'6" and 120 pounds. She's a meal for coyotes, bears, mountain lions, and if she was alone, even a pair of lynx might probe her as a meal. The assumption that she couldn't be a meal is just silly. Rusty is entertaining but not too bright. She could have run away or been kidnapped, but she was an easy meal. She's tiny. I personally know of coyotes attacking and killing 120 pound dogs. Dogs are way scarier than this woman. Heck, I know of a rooster that killed an eighty pound labrador. So imagine a pair of 35 pound lynx.......

I am following this story closely since a local girl. I am familiar with the Lee area too. Just today on local news they mentioned that her hiking boots were found in the car so they are questioning if she ever started on the Long Cope trail. Her cell phone last pinged on private property across the way from where she was parked. Very disturbing that there is no trace of this poor woman.

    • @herbalina
      @herbalina 2 роки тому +18

That's important info about her boots! Did they mention the condition of the boots, if they were clean or not? Regardless, I think the fact that they were left in the car is alarming.

@@herbalina they did not but her brother questioned if she had gone on the hike at all so I assume they were clean. This time of year is mud season so if she had used them they would have been muddy for sure. This is just so baffling because it's not a huge remote area and it seems to me would be hard to get lost since there are many rural properties dotting the surrounding area. I prayer she is found soon.

I used to hike and camp alone, mainly in Michigan's upper peninsula. I never worried about it as I mainly hiked and camped well off trails as I was alone and didn't want others to know I was there. I have never gotten lost in the wilderness (wish I could say that about cities). I don't do it anymore mainly due to injuries from a car accident but after watching so many of Rusty's vids I am sincerely glad I don't as I now realize the chances I was taking. One of the places I used to hike was where he showed a very experienced and armed hunter disappeared. That kind of scared me as it was during the time I used to go there.

I lived very near to the area for many years. My cannabis dispensary was in Lee, & I've driven past the Red Lion countless times. There is a very healthy black bear population, but fatal attacks are extremely rare.
It's not quite the 'sea of wilderness' you describe. A local joke is when you get lost in the woods, walk in a straight line for an hour & you will hit civilization.
Definitely not "hundreds of miles" of woods, unless you walk in circles(?)
There are however, the attendant weirdos floating about the local towns.
    Foul play.
Note: the highway close by is i90, not i80.

That being said, it is unlikely that I would ever choose to hike alone. It's simply a bad idea. Prayers that this young lady is safe.

Very familiar with the area. A friend of mine is the fire chief there. in MA, the only bears we have are black bears, and there have been zero fatalities from them since, well, since this place was settled. There hasnt been a wolf here in over 2 centuries. We DO have bobcats, but they arent big cats-more like a medium sized dog. We have coyotes that dont attack full grown people. They arent fearful of man anymore-but, to my knowledge, attacks from yotes are exceedingly rare (like maybe once a decade??) and are never fatal.

When you don't find a person in a woosey park like this, then the person was never there. Duh. The answer as to what happened to her lies in her "personal issues." The fact that the family would not divulge what they were is a clear indication that there was something they wanted to hide which she was involved in and didn't want to ruin her reputation as a good teacher.

Because of the relatively small area compared to other parks and the fact that it is mostly flat land with little water to possibly fall into, I believe they would have found her by now if she was still there. In this particular case, I'm definitely thinking abduction. A woman alone makes easy prey for someone with evil intentions. A heavily forested area with few cars in and out is a candy store for predators. No one sees anything and no one can hear you scream.☹

I do wonder in this particular case if she may have been depressed and if this could be a suicide case perhaps. Although she would have gone out of her ways then to not be found, after the fact. Just an idea, since her brother told a news outlet that she had issues with her school and was put on paid leave for the year. She also was not in a great mental place when she left for this trip. And I read an article from her at Scheerpost, and she sounded incredibly pessimistic about life and politics. her mother also died of an aneurism in 2019.

The Berkshires area is a mix of recreational, residential, and these park areas, where folks may like to take walks. . Attractive to nasty human predators, as I've experienced, twice, luckily unharmed- but for the grace of God I could've been harmed and disposed of.

It is sad how many folks have disappeared to never return or be seen again. I hope this case of Meghan is solved one day and she is found alive and well. I hate when I hear a woman might be larger and they think ht and wt alone means you can hold your own. And many women even take self defense classes. Truth is very few women being attacked get away.
