    I'm one of those crazy English teachers. But I always tell my students that it's okay to make mistakes, no one is perfect, even native speakers sometimes make mistakes. I know I am not the best teacher, I admit there are so many things I don't know and many things that I do wrong. But I am sure that my students are going to confidently use English in their lives.

    What I learn with pleasure I never forget.It’s true communicating can happen perfectly well even if I make mistakes.The ordinary Englishman is very leniently. A child comes home from his first day at school. His mother asks, “What did you learn today?“ The kid replies,“Not enough.I have to go back tomorrow.”

    • @BusinessEnglishwithGrant

    Sometimes it's ok to say that 'don't care mistakes, don't care to be perfect' especially when you are a native speaker in your own language. But before we feel confidence to speak a language I mean when we are on the half way of learning a language journey, it's difficult to accept that advice.It's difficult not to don't care of mistakes, not to take care of being perfect.

    • @BusinessEnglishwithGrant
      @BusinessEnglishwithGrant  13 днів тому +1

      It's definitely a challenge to let go of perfection when learning a new language, but progress is more important than perfection.
      A few things are important to realize. First, nobody is perfect in any language. Nobody.
      Second, the idea of the video is to stop worrying about using perfect words and grammar and just try to be free and communicate your message.
      Try it.
      It works.
      I promise you.
      I've been doing this with clients for many years. They love it.

    • @BusinessEnglishwithGrant
      @BusinessEnglishwithGrant  17 днів тому +1

      Hi and thank you for your note. I've got a few things for you to try. As the video says, don't worry about making mistakes. Also, next time you have a conversation with someone in English, forget about your English and try to do 2 things: 1) Focus on the message that your audience needs (why are you talking to them?...to help them with a message); and 2) what do you want them to feel from your message? (maybe happiness, or they need to do something fast, or there is trouble, or some type of feeling).
      When you focus on your message and a feeling you want them to feel, you will forget about your English and just communicate so much better.!
      Try it and let me know.

    It's okay to make mistake!
    That's a good advice to English learners, and for me as well. I often focus on grammar when I wanna say something and when I got mistakes, I felt so bad about my English. After this video, I feel more confident in speaking without thinking about my grammar. I hope I could be better then!
    Thanks for your sharing! Love and hugs from Vietnam.

      Yes, please just think about what message you want to communicate with someone. Only focus on that message. Don't worry about the words. Just really think about the message that you want to share with the other person. Speak from your heart and do not worry about your English. You will see a big difference.

    But I have to be perfect to be accepted to work as either an English coach or an English homework assistant (cheer students/kids up to be a really cheerful coach my dream ),especially because I’m not an English native speaker. 😭 😭 they accept more English native speakers than the other one.
    And a lot of people told me to give up this profession due to my position as an non-English native speaker. I’m feeling really down at this moment.
    Thank you 🙏 for your videos . It’s really good and enjoyable 😊

      Hi. It sounds like you have been trying very hard to improve you English. Congratulations! It is so difficult. One thing you can try is to stop trying to speak with perfect English but instead speak with feeling. When you focus on giving your message with feeling, you will speak so much better. Try it! You'll like it.

      I have been trying so hard sir.
      It’s really rare I’m proud of myself but more than two years ago I couldn’t even speak and understand people and know I can. I have been going through different emotions from happiness to depression with lack of confidence as well. Some relatives around don’t really believe in this retraining due to this one for them it’s only a “hobby” and other people when I asked some advice on what I should do to become one of them.They just responded me to give up, it’s not for me especially because I’m a non native speaker and also they added by saying “following my writing skills,they won’t never sign up with me for their kids” (I desire to be an English coach for kids(I must try because I’ve never teach before it but I love challenges)) (it was surely true but I got hurt the ways they told me that). fortunately I have two people who cheer me up a lot. Thank you so much for your advice,I’ll implement it and give a shot.
      Thank you 🙏

      Thank you for writing. If I understand your question, I think you are asking if dialect or accent matters when speaking English. To me, the answer is "no," it doesn't matter at all.
      What matters is that when someone speaks, it should be easy for other people to understand them. If we speak in a way that is difficult for others to understand us, it is like we are punishing our audience and making them work so hard to listen to us.
      Make it easy on our audience. Speak clearly, but keep your own accent and enjoy English.

    I have been saying this to my students for the last 8 years.
    You just need to make yourself understood.
    Most native speakers will recognise instantly that English is 'not' your first language and will switch on their 'I'm going to need to listen and be open to interpretation with this person' mode. 😊

      You are welcome and thank you for the kind words.
      Let's think about your request. You say you want to have a feeling of being free in conversation. The truth is you cannot find this in a book. So, I would not say go find a book to help with your conversations. A very interesting thing you can use is a podcast you like. If you can find a podcast you are interested in AND find the full transcript of that podcast, then you can use that to practice your speaking.
      Or, if you want to practice speaking, listen to my videos, follow the transcript and shadow my speaking. It is great practice for your conversations.

      I couldn't agree more about what you said. it's exactly what I tell to the people they are in a process of learning english stop worrying about your english, beleive in what you say use you own vocabulary and enjoy communicating with the people around the world. In addition to this to me it's mind blowing that people are trying to speak with a perfect english when you are a foreigner. it's all like if they've never spoken with some foreigner, what I mean is there are some people who have been leaving in France for a certain period of time they speak with a broken french but it doesn't mean I don't enjoy speaking in french with them.
