Hello there! Today I will show you how to make a granny square. This might pose a challenge to beginners but I'm here to share with you a few tips that definitely will lift the weight off your shoulders. Grab your hook and get down to business!
The pattern that you're learning today is commonly known as granny square.
Double stitch will be adopted throughout the video and I'm sure you will find it easy to wield your hook. We extend the work from the center to 4 corners of the square by placing a cluster of crochets including 3 double crochets, 2 chain stitches and 3 double crochets into 1 hole. Basically, you place this cluster into the hole at each corner. Determine the size of the square and crochet on until your square reaches the desired measurements. Alternatively, you could make a bunch of small squares and then merge them into one big square.
This pattern, being unique as it is, appears on a range of products ranging from coaster, table cloth, bed sheet to baby blanket. It is mostly appreciated for promoting breathability of the fabric.
