If you are looking for just the raw footage of cars pulling wheelies, then this isn't the video for you. However, if you are looking for a video that tells the stories of arguably the wildest event, the 2020 World Power Wheelstanding Championships, then this is the video you won't want to miss.
Byron Dragway's 26th annual World Power Wheelstanding Championship was chock full of excitement. There was some genuinely driving talent on display, and there were also some mishaps.
This video, using footage shot by video great Les Mayhew, is lengthy but leaves you feeling you were there.

I lived in DeKalb, and raced on dirt at Sycamore Speedway, but EVERY October, we would go to the wheelstand competition!!! I miss it now that I'm in Florida, but grateful that it's on UA-cam!

Definitely one of the craziest flukes I've ever seen, and the crowd loved the boardslide! I think they went more wild for that error than for any of the wheelies that didn't end in disaster lol.
I bet when he watches it back he'll appreciate how close he came to a really nasty end. Amazing bit of driving though ;D

Ron Leek had no idea it would become what it has become! I was at the first of them and went every year until I moved to Arizona in 2008... Thank You for putting this on UA-cam!!! SO AWESOME!

Any old timers here that remember the stars & stripes corvette wheelie car from the late 60's - early 70's with the perspex floor & twin brake pedals so he could drive it in a straight line.
I'm 59 & remember seeing it featured in a load of "Hot Rod" magazines I inherited, the same place I learned all about the Snake & the Mongoose...good times:-)

@@zedsez Then you dont know cars.... that was the softest roll over ive evcr seen. the jersey barrier he slid into did the most damage. i could fix it all for 2 grand and thats with a grand leeway

Brian Ambrosini's little Gremlin,, what more can be said,, that little hotrod is a CROWD PLEASER! If memory serves correctly that little hotrod has done a full gainer and unlike this body roll it's been on it's top before. GOD bless him and we're happy he's OK. He'll be back!!

Great video. It's all about putting on a good show for the fans. Making the fans feel like they got their money's worth for the price of their ticket. I live in ohio and will have to put this event on my calendar for next year.

...can I just say the track response team need a little physical conditioning so they can get to the drivers without being out of breath.
You know what? Most of these safety personnel who help make these events happen are volunteers who sacrifice their time and put themselves in harm's way just so a lot of people can have fun and be happy for a day. I know you look like David Hasselhoff but not everyone does.

@@MrTheHillfolk I believe his throttle linkage was damaged when he 1st hit the wall!!! He did a great job cutting the ignition. When I was driving my friend's car, I had a stuck throttle, I turned the key off and it seemed to take Forever for that small block to stop. One muffler blew up, may have saved it.

That Gremlin has a proper nice roll cage fitted. No surprise the dude got out no problems after flipping it. Amazing run though before it went sideways.
Every car here would have to have a full cage, or they wouldnt pass tech.

I liked Tim Schandlin's lil Luv,, he got HIGH, REAL HIGH but gained too much speed too soon. Mom Nature's gravity won that battle. He'll find a way to slow it down and hold that front end up,, watch and see. Greg Broscious High 'N Wild wheel stand'n Nova has been on just about every magazine cover and is seen in You?Tube intros many, many times. His last lift was pretty good but his timing was off this show. he'll be back!
They should look into setting those wheelie cars( and trucks) like those modified pulling tractors with the hand operated throttle and individual brakes with right and left brake pedals. And then have a window in the floor so they can see where they are going.
