Ever since I learned the zeppelin bend, I really never use any other knot to join two lines. It is so secure and so easy to untie after being loaded. Never thought to make a loop of it, though! Love it!
I use this to join 2 lines all the time, but I learned it by making a figure 6 and figure 9 and passing thet the ends thought the loops. I like this method better. And now to practice the loop. 👍
The Z bend has been my default for over 20 years... never an issue, have tied many thousands of them. However my tying method differs. I've been aware of the Z loop, but never messed with it... will look more into it now.
This is only an update for anyone interested in knowing this about the replacement wire cutters steel type that Leatherman is currently using. I was informed by Leatherman that they have been using since 2020 440C steel. I actually thought it was CM154.
The greatest bend ever devised by mankind.

Me too. Gotta love that loop.😂
Good to learn the Z Loop. I learned the Z bend recently (though I use a different method).
The man himself is back!!
thank you!

Cyclic loading is a big deal in boating.
Excellent explanation Ben. Off context question for you! Do you know if Leatherman changed what steel for their replaceable wire cutters? Thanks Al.
I’m not sure. Work has had me so busy lately, I’m a little out of touch.
@@txtoolcrib I understand.
@@AlvinMann-u4kthey apparently had some issues with wirecutters breaking under normal load, I think maxlvledc made a video about it
@@---Michael--- thank you 🙏🏻

👍
Zeppelin loop and the Kalmyk loop are both better than the bowline knot in my opinion.
I would also add the double dragon knot to your list.
The Kalmyk is a slipped Eskimo Bowline.
👍
