- On February 16, around 8am a non-tribal woman, aged 58, was fatally knocked down by a scooter in New NST, Kohima. The victim succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The North Police station has initiated a Suo Moto case, leading to the arrest of the scooter rider. Eyewitness Nitin Gupta reported that upon witnessing the accident, he found the woman already unconscious. Traffic police swiftly transported her to a nearby hospital's emergency room, where she was pronounced dead on arrival at 8:20 am.

The scooty was also speeding in this crowded city. Surely scooty's is also not without fault. Speed limit should be immediately set and checked to prevent such tragedy again.

If you have eyes you'll see that the road was wide open and first of all,that's not a zebra crossing that the lady should be crossing the road like this and second she looked on the wrong side before crossing and thirdly even after seeing the scooty she just tried to ran across the road with her physical ability at that age which she's not capable of crossing the road by running as speed as any adult when knowing the fact that she could've just taken a few steps back and saved herself and the scooty rider from this accident.

In this case, if you dont know the rules of crossing road but if you're already crossing and saw a vehicle coming infront of you, just stand where you're standing so that the driver/rider may not get nervous and stop or go other way and both will be saved. May her soul RIP.

@@myfavourite6230 Firstly, the scooty was speeding. In Kohima, I don't think anyone should speed as the road is so narrow. Secondly, if I'm not wrong, it's a one-way street, so the victim should have looked backward for the vehicle instead of the front. In conclusion, follow traffic rules, ride slowly in narrow roads or town areas, and check both sides before you cross the road.

Whom are we to blame? I always give way for two wheelers on the right side but they tend to opt for the opposite side sometimes.

Actually the main problem is that, the road is too narrow. Ofc this statement is not related to the incidence however keeping it mind the fact that, the capital of Nagaland has narrow roads. And that is also in the main town.

Law enforcement should check two wheelers overtaking from the wrong side. And specially two wheeler taxis most of the drivers don't care for the safety of their passengers. Their union should also educate them on these or cancel their license for violating the rules.

Idk why everyone is blaming the victim only its her fault and the scooty rider at the same time.. when she look at the scooty before crossing it was around 35-40 feet away so she thought its safe distance to cross but the scooty was over speeding and he did saw her crossing any normal rider/driver will slow down the vehicle at thay moment but instead that stupid rider increased the speed so my opinion is scooty 60-70 % fult - victim 30-40 % fault.. dont say there is no zepra crossing here in india special in nagaland 99.9 dont follow zepra crossing.

For all those people blaming the aunty...just remember it was a scooter not an unstoppable train who cannot applied brakes on time...aunty might be careless but what will happen next time if it was a kid who will never be careful...it is scooter fault and next it is public fault for choosing local government who doesn't enforce strict speed limits and penalty for repeated offenders.

But the scooty was far enough for someone to cross. Both were at fault. The lady did not check properly, didn't raise her hand , didn't calculate the how fast the speeding scooty could reach her. The scooty guy also had a window of braking it full on but did not, meaning his reaction time was slow as his hand was not on the brake lever ready to brake even while speeding; he coulpyould have taken a fall or done 180 drift without hitting the lady or just with a scratch.
Drive carefully, also be a good pedestrian as this is India, your safety is in your hands , not just following the traffic rules.

In a city vehicles should give a side to the people as people crossing the road.
If you look closely he was coming in a normal speed but when he saw the lady instead of applying brake he accelerate more to cross before the lady cross the road. Maybe he is in a hurry or rush driving no patience
