  • Not all paint jobs are great. This is one of them. It's good, but likely a combination of paint type, humidity, maybe even psi on the airbrush netted a paint job that looked like the Bronco got hailed on. I was able to correct most of the issues and overall, it's a neat kit. No engine, but you can always cut out the plate and install one of your choice.
Kit: AMT 2021 Ford Bronco First Edition
    Paint: Tamiya LP-41 Mica Blue
    Clear: Scale Finishes 2K clear
Airbrush: Grex Genesis xSi @ 20 psi

I've not tried that Tamiya Lacquer paint from an airbrush. Paint is the bane of my existence. Good looking build!!

    Hi Dave,
Sometimes we have to take the humidity into account when painting. Anything over 70% and you can have issues, usually it will just get milky white. I had that happen last month on a model that I was trying Duplicolor 1K aerosol on, and I wanted to put 5 coats on. My goal was to mimic a high dollar custom paint job from the 60's. So I shot 5 light coats giving a few minutes flash time and on the fifth coat I saw that the roof and the top of the fenders were getting milky. The humidity must have been a little high. I didn't panic. I took the body in the house and put it in my dehydrator for a couple of hours and the milky appearance disappeared. We live and learn. I haven't really posted anything for a while. I started going back and clearing bodies that I painted 6 or 7 years ago as part of an experiment with Testors and Tamiya rattle can paint. I do like the Duplicolor 1K extreme gloss aerosol clear. I have 2K clear, but if I can use the Duplicolor successfully outside in the summer, I will. 2K can be a little bit of overkill in my opinion for a model that doesn't have to be protected against more than dust bunnies. The Bronco is a neat build. I would probably opt for similar colors. Good luck on your next project.
