    This is the best video I have seen in years for flying wedges from The Golf Machine. I wish I had seen a video like this 15 years ago when I was learning the golf swing.

    Love this feel - especially in the downswing! With my strong grip, I am still struggling to get that same bow in the downswing as I do with the plate - I’ll keep grinding but this is a great feel

      @CogornoGolf  3 роки тому

      Thanks, Kevin! The stronger the grip the less you need to bow it!

    I'm really liking this feel for getting the club faced closed and shaft lean but I feel like its harder to swing fast without my wrists just letting go and having the tension of my right wrist stretched back

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  9 місяців тому +1

      Yeah that sounds about right and is OK.....if you need to close the face to path FIRST dont worry about speed I would say. Get uses to this first and add speed later.
      Face more closed will lower the dynamic loft so you should gain distance with that even with less speed

  • @tgchris2222
    @tgchris2222 3 роки тому +1

    I think it’s important to note the vertical wrist cock of the wrists early in the swing. It’s where I struggled for years to help get above the plane before I could even worry about the right wrist cock. But this concept is outstanding with the plates.....

    Hey Eric, great video! If you want to keep your right wrist extended at impact, when do you start releasing the club? I feel like I lose a lot of club head speed if I don’t release the wrist angles.

    I have been working on this a lot for the last 8 weeks or so and then focusing on just finishing my hip turn on the way through while holding off the hands at impact. Makes the golf swing seem a lot easier if you can get it down. Sadly, I have developed golfers elbow in my right (trail arm).
    Eric, have you ever had this happen while having the wrists bowed like this?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  3 роки тому +1

      Hey!
      I have not experienced that.
      I hope you feel better!

    • @gunghogolf
      @gunghogolf 3 роки тому +1

      Golfer’s elbow is more likely a result of hitting off a mat that is too plush and grabby, which decelerates the club head on any fat shot or any proper divot with shorter clubs. The stress of rapid deceleration of the club head is mostly taken in the elbows.
      This drill will encourage taking proper divots, so make sure you’re not over-practicing on a “bad” mat. Good injury-prevention mats: Fiberbuilt, TrueStrike, DivotAction, or our own Holy Grail. Grabby mats: any mat that can hold a real golf tee.

    • @Haller3131
      @Haller3131 3 роки тому

      @@gunghogolf Thank you! I would say I am absolutely over practicing on bad mats. You definitely cannot stick a tee into these.

    Great video. My problem: due to the swing speed, it is very difficult how to control the wrists movements in the down swing.
    I have tried to focus either on the right wrist (bent back) or on the left wrist (flat / bode) while, simultaneously, moving my body to the target. I have been practicing in slow mo but, in real speed, it is so difficult that I only feel frustation. Would you have any drill to help to overcome this great problem? Thanks.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  3 роки тому

      Hey Carlos!
      The solution there is not another drill.
      The solution is using video feedback and increasing exaggeration X1000 until you get it with more speed.
      If you cannot get these wrist angles you will need to make your grip stronger

  • @billykilcoyne8241

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  3 роки тому

      Hey Mike!
      The answer is to have a shallow angle of attack and enough speed.

    Eric, is it a bad idea to bend the wrist so that the palm is facing behind you at the top? Would this then prevent having to use your hitchhiker thumb rotation of the wrist towards the bottom?

    • @CogornoGolf

      Hey Brian!

    Should your left arm have any bend in it or completely straight to get the right wrist bent in the right position?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  3 роки тому

      Hey Travis!
      If you were to look at 1,000 great ball strikers you would see them MOSTLY straight. Locked straight? Some. Some bend? some.
      I would avoid a lot of bend certainly for most that will be too hard to manage in downswing
