Can’t beat an I6. Perfectly balanced, lots of torques, super realiable. Look at the old fords with the 300 i6 most are still on the road. BMW I6 are pulling over 300,000 miles ( everything else fails, engines are solid lol) Cummins 5.9 and 6.7, super reliable, dodges old slant 6, super reliable, jeeps 4.0 i6 super reliable. I’ve been waiting years for one of the Big 3 to bring back an I6 with all the modern tech, RAM has done it. Now I just need to wait 20 years to be able to afford a used one lol

The Hurricane may be a good engine, but it will have to prove itself like the Hemi has. An inline 6 is great. Think about the slant six an icon. I would have liked to see more displacement with the turbos. Lower horse power for the truck engines with more torque. Design them for reliability don't be cheap like Ford and install a rubber belt to drive the water pump and then recall hundreds of thousands due to belt issues blocking the oil inlet tube or breaking all together. I hope they just build a reliable engine (no Displacement on command) with a reliable and easily serviced timing system, and recommend oil changes at 5000 miles not 15k.
The engineers can do it, but the bean counters get the last word.
The old OHV engines in the late 60s were some of the best built engines ever. If you upgraded the design with EFI (Port and GDI), High quality roller lifters, good flowing heads and higher compression you would have a bullet proof engine. Oh Yea: There is no replacement for Displacement.

Fifth generation RAM's 5.7 V8 backed by their 8 speed transmission has proven to be a great and reliable combo. I sincerely hope they don't suffer the same adverse outcome that Toyota fell into with these small displacement turbo engines in a half ton pickup.
