Zamboanga Hermosa Festival Street Dance Competition 2022 | LGBTQIA+ Community (2nd Placer)

The Zamboanga Hermosa Festival or Fiesta Pilar is an annual celebration in honor of the patroness of the City of Zamboanga-Our Lady of the Pillar. The Zamboangueños are known for their fervent devotion to Our Lady of the Pillar or better known to them as “Nuestra Señora La Virgen del Pilar”. This is brought about by the miracles believed to have been performed by Our Lady. Her image is the main piece of the Real Fuerza de Señora Virgen del Pilar, a fort-turned-shrine in Her honor. People gather to pay homage especially on her feast day October 12.
Festivities last the whole month of October. The highlights would include a nine-day novena, fashion shows, dance and song competitions, trade fairs, a pageant, and the famous Regatta which is a race of colorful vintas.
The Zamboanga Hermosa Festival is one of the biggest and most awaited festivals in the city and the region. This showcases the beauty of Zamboanga City-its rich and diverse culture and heritage. It is indeed a spectacle worth witnessing.
