Our band director has us do a ten minute video of us practicing anything in our book or from or concerts:competitions and we get our credit for that day
I'm a bassoonist too. There are plenty of things a reed can be soaked in- bare minimum a mouthwash with high alcohol content. Many will argue that a reed is garbage after sanitation attempts, but I do it anyway. Just not too long or too often.
My band director makes people come and practice even if they're sick. He's a bit weird and it keeps kicking him in the behind since a lot of band kids keep getting sick. When one gets sick half or all the band does get sick.
Hey Mr. K! I love your videos and the advice you give. I play Oboe and clarinet for my high school band, oboe for concert and clarinet for marching. I was wondering if you could do a Scott and Jimmy for oboe? Thank you! (I was the actual second person!)
Remember for any clarinet or sax players: always use cold water when washing your mouthpieces. Using hot or even warm water can discolor and even damage them over time.
Nice! My band director has a Google Form to fill out and video yourself playing if you miss a concert, or performance. Nice tips! (Not to brag, but first and 14 seconds!)
i got sick like just a few days before our concert and i played and if you're curious it was... absolute AWFUL the first song i hit NONE of the notes below g i played them a whole octave higher (p.s. the entire song is COMPRISED with low notes) the second song was fine the third song i didn't even play the first quarter cause i had to change reeds during the concert
Love ur vids, but I don't think you can get sick from the same illness twice in a row so unless ur sharing reeds (ew) I don't think you should stress it.

@ thanks, good luck on yours too
My high school band director wouldn't let anyone set out even if they were sick, good to know some do.
Reminds me of when i had a concert like a couple days after i was mostly better from having pneumonia, that wasnt very fun lol

My band director made me play even when I had pneumonia

I was gonna say this glad you did tenor sax here lol
@ Ay nice tenor sax too

I had band and a band concert today after school but i wasn't able to go cause i was sick
Pls make bassoon videos
Mine is tmr at 6 were beginner were playing jolly old st Nicholas and jingle bells and up on the house top.
Hey maybe you can a video about Scott and Jimmy piano😊
Pretty sure you can soak a reed in hydrogen peroxide to clean off any bad stuff!
This is especially good for double reed players, mine cost 30$ a piece! Single reeds I’d say just get a new one
@ yeah! Double reeds especially. I understand getting rid of a single one
That reed is, rely something. Wow
What about plastic reeds?
Plastic is non-porous. You should be able to safely sanitize and scrub those if you want.
@mr.kniclsmusicclass ok thank you 😄
my concert is also tonight
Second! Thx for the info
I got a concert in a few hours lol😅
Not come to school if you’re starting to feel sick 💀, that’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. I didn’t miss A SINGLE day of school last year
Ah yes, risking other people's lives
It is standard practice and common courtesy to stay home when you are sick
You don’t need to wash your mouth peace because you can’t get sick from the same sickness twice
That is false information
Love ur vids, but I don't think you can get sick from the same illness twice in a row so unless ur sharing reeds (ew) I don't think you should stress it.
You absolutely can get sick with the same thing in a row, idk where you heard you can't but that's just not how illnesses work.
