Great video! I laughed 30 seconds after you said "reel him in some more, grandpa!" and I realized you weren't insulting your friend, you were talking to your actual grandpa!
+TreeTopFlier Thanks TreeTopFlier, I also enjoyed your Koke video this morning. UT does a good job with these fish, it's been a lot of fun! Thanks again.
+MrRojoneck Thanks Rojo, they are an awesome fish for sure! I love everything about fishing for Kokes, from the taste to the cool and different tackle, it's a blast! I need to hit you up next Dec when I'm back in Utah and we can go chase some through the ice, then in the summer, I'll take you out on the boat and get some for the freezer!
What weight line should i use on the rod? And if I use a quick change swivel, what weight line for the leader? Or do you recommend only tying the lure directly to the line? What kind of lures? How deep? Etc. I’m just used to stocked small pond/reservoir trout fishing....trout that are itty bitty around 10 inches.
I have a question. The cabin you stayed at, did you rent it or do you own it? Im asking cause me and my fiancé are getting married and plan on going to Strawberry for our honeymoon, and were thinking of staying at the lodge or rent a cabin. Just wonder do you know how much they cost to rent. Thanks Paul
Hi Paul. We rented the cabin in this video, and given the chance I would totally do it again! As for the cost, me and my brothers and their families all split the cost, so I'm not even sure what I paid for it, let alone the total amount. I might be able to find the link that we used to book it though, let me do some looking.
Nice man, it's a good time. If you enjoy catching fish on a fly that you tied yourself, you'll get a similar sense of satisfaction with this. Oh, and it's addicting! Good luck, let me know how you do with your lures.
+Mrjaspgu Thanks for the questions. The reels are Tica Kokanee Special 101, or model# KT101 (the 101 is the left handed retrieve, the 100 is the right handed retrieve). Roughly trolling around 1.5mph seems to be the trick. I have found KokaneeTackle.com to be a good source for gear, just FYI. Thanks for watching, hope this helps.

Ha ha, got to love fishing with the geriatric crowd!
Nice fishing and great video, well done! Love those early season fights when the fish go airborne. UT has some great Kokanee fisheries.
