We are so lucky to have a self sustaining population of Kokanee in Green Peter Reservoir here in Linn County Oregon. A favorite for catching, smoking etcetera at my house. I loved watching your beautifully done film. Thanks so much for posting! Happy fishing :)
+LeAnn Cortez Yes you are lucky! I hear Oregon and Washington both have some great opportunity for Kokanee fishing. Thank you for the very nice compliment, and thank you so much for watching!
thanks again and you are correct it isn't always about the biggest baddest fish or whichever anmial you pursue but the memories of the day tight lines to you thanks again
Great video! Your underwater work is top notch...you really captured some great footage. They are my favorite fish as well. I have pretty much forsaken all other species of fish since I caught the bug.
+TreeTopFlier What a nice thing to say, I really appreciate it. I still have a lot to learn about this filming/editing hobby, but it has been fun. As for the fish, I'm with you, other fish just don't excite me much once you have caught the Kokanee fever. It's contagious!!
again great video fellas I finally got my first 20in kokanee 2weeks ago a quest that took a lot of years I'm still stoked just curious do you think a 20 is wall hanging material
James Fauvelle This video was shot at Strawberry Reservoir in Utah. The only salmon species in that lake are Kokanee Salmon. They look like pinks though.
+Norm Lord That's a great fish, congrats! It sounds like you have been at this for awhile! All too often, I think we feel like it has to be the biggest thing out there in order to merit being a wall hanger. A lot of things that I have taken to the taxidermist are not the biggest or the baddest, but they each have a special memory associated with them. It's a way for me to remember certain times with certain people. So I would say, if it's a way for you to remember something that was an accomplishment, a special memory, or a way to remember a trip with special people, put it on the wall!
Don't Play around with Salmons or trout like fish. They have a very sensitive skin. And the fish are afraid. What for, letting the kid touch the fish? Besides that - very cool vid man.

+Norm Lord Thanks! Congrats on the fish, that's one big Koke! What was the weight on it?
are the same family type as sockeye salmon? they look very very similar to them though.
According to the limited reserach that I have done, Kokanee are landlocked sockeys......that's probably why they taste so good!
They are the same thing.
Those are pinks
