I LOVE onion paper it’s fabulous for anatomy drawing where you can draw the bones on one layer then the nerves on the next, the blood vessels, the muscles, so on until you get to the top layer where you draw the skin that covers up everything it’s very fun paper to use.
I feel like it would be a really fun challenge to work an onion skin sketchbook back to front, so you’re sort of continuously building on what came before. Really make the most of the transparency.
I have an Onion Skin Journal and it's sat unused on my shelf as it just feels so special and is so expensive that I've feel too afraid to use it - it never occurred to me to use it as a sketchbook as I was hung up on the word 'journal'. Love it! Thank you for the inspiration, your sketchbook looks incredible!

as a sketchbook tour, i love how you can get a bit of a preview of the next page! every page flip feels like a reveal and a preview at the same time, almost like they're all cliffhangers. your art is super cool and i love love love the number of scribbles on every page!!

Nothing makes my brain happier than your use of color. I love seeing the swatch pages peak through the linework. I just ordered an onion skin journal and I hope to fill mine with beautiful colors and patterns as well. ❤
I also have a onionskinjournal, I sometimes work into the journal because it feels so special to me. It is very very expensive to ship to the Netherlands. So i make special moments to work in it. I love the sound and texture of these books. I get mine from our very own Jane Davenport although they are not called onion skin with her as she renames her stuff with wonderful expressive names. She works on both sides you should check hers out. I have two. So yummy! I just love you style and videos. You rock girl!😊

Yeah I think you’re right! The animation industry probably took their “onion skin” term from the paper… because paper came before modern animation 😌

The paper itself looks awful and doesn't seem to work great, but I do love the sound.
It’s actually so lovely and waaaay stronger than it looks and works beautifully!! I have no struggles with it.
