The mix of James Earl Jones and Hayden Christensen's voices when the helmet breaks is amazing, full on chill This was by far the best episode of the series, and that's from a series that was damned amazing already

The manner in which Leia asked Obi-Wan if she’ll ever see him again was exactly the same tone and style as Anakin asking his mom in TPM. The next time Anakin sees his mother is when she dies, and that parallels Leia’s last time seeing Obi-Wan
Vader's labored breathing sounds immediately made me think of his fight against Ahsoka. It breaks my heart that he's fought against two people who loved him immensely.
I teared up a little with that one too but alot when Qui-Gon jinn showed up.not because of the scene but because he was my mom's favorite Jedi and she ALWAYS cried when he died,I hate she wasn't alive to see him comeback.hell I'm tearing up writing this.
10:04 was the part that really got to my heart. Hearing Hayden's voice mixed in. There's still a little of that loving loyal Anakin and the iconic voice we knew for so long in there being overcome by Vader. The way they showed it is so beautiful.
I remember in Return of the Jedi Luke said to Vader I can feel the conflict. I felt Anakin conflict here especially when he screamed Obiwannnn!!! It just gave me the chills. Same as when the Emperor asked Vader are your feelings clear about Obiwan in this episode? Exactly, the same when the Emperor asked Vader are your feelings clear about Luke in Return of the Jedi. There was good in Vader just he was conflicted with the dark side of the force.
His kids were all he had of padme, the only person Both Vader and Anakin loved. We see him pondering this while the emperor zaps the shit out of Luke. He essentially couldn't let padme die again because of him.
Vader becomes Anakin again, the moment that Luke throws that lightsaber away. It's Luke's final trial, but also Anakin's final lesson. Luke is basically saying "you might kill me, and might try to convert my sister, but I will have nothing to do with this." Of all the people Vader knew, only Luke had been put in a similar situation. Only Luke could show him the way out. If Luke could choose death over darkness, then so could Vader. That is literally what happens. Vader chooses to end his dark path, even though it will kill him.
The way I see it, Vader telling Obi-Wan that Vader "killed" him wasn't the Sith Lord taking credit, but Anakin giving his friend closure reassuring Obi-Wan that it wasn't his fault, but he did it to himself.
For me the use of lighting in this series was subtle, but highly effective. Loved the way anakin's exposed face would have blue reflections on parts of his dialogue and then went to red when the Vader in him came back out. A classy little touch 👍
Another thing I noticed is that since Vader got beat up quite badly by Obiwan in the finale it also make sense that he seems a lot more careful in Ep4. The technology of the time didn't allow for elaborate lightsaber duels but now it work into the narrative. Slow movements, keep his guard up and protect his respirator.
wait what? i thought they moved like shit because they were old and hadn't used their elaborate skills in ages. what does technology have to do with how they didnt fight elaborately in the original series
@@MasterKeyMagic The lightsabers in Ep4 were rods wrapped in a reflective film that were mounted on a motor that made them spin and they had wires going up the sleeves. The light shinning on the spinning rod made them glow and in post production they raised the brightness on them and colored them. With Ep5 they were able to hold lightsabers with one hand and the budget went up to 3x the budget of Ep4 so they could spend a lot more time on elaborated choreography fights.
Comics say otherwise. He was more careful with the elite Jedi masters, but against Jedi knights and Jedi padawones he was ruthless and un-carrying of the damage he received
You know, if I had a nickel for every time Darth Vader's mask was sliced open by someone important to him I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
You realize there's a reason Ahsoka and Obi Wan are the ones to do it in that manner right? It shouldn't be weird whatsoever if you understand Star Wars.
one nice nod they did was the fact when Vader said "you didnt kill Anakin skywalker. I did" resolves the "vader killed your dad" line in a new up and "its true to a certain point of view" in return of the jedi
The final Vader obi wan fight legit gave me goosebumps and brought me right back to being a kid again. Even the dialogue afterword was AMAZING. After seeing that I’d love to see this director helming a new trilogy. The way he portrayed Vader was perfect and reminded everyone why he is one of the greatest villains of all time.
Although it feels like Leia should have been more shocked at Kenobi’s death in A New Hope, it at least made some sense as to why she and Han would named their kid, Ben, since Kenobi made a big impact in her life. Because before Kenobi, Luke was the only one that had more relation with Kenobi than the others.
not really her whole planet was destroyed along with her Parents and she was able to recover pretty quickly. leia is pretty good at hideing her emotions
I don't believe George Lucas wrote the script for a new hope with an Obi-Wan kenobi series by disney in mind. You people dig too deep into things. Just watch the show and enjoy it for what it is. If everything made sense and was logical these stories would be very boring and predictable.
@@yamenomozore7470 When ANH came out, George Lucas didn’t have this relationship between leia and obi-wan in mind, he didn’t even have luke being her brother and vader their father in mind either.
Okay she has already seen Obi wan sacrifice for her like being a distraction in danger so this is not new for her. There is nothing wrong to have more Young Leía and Obi wan interaction before New Hope.
I really loved the "grunt/yell" Vader lets out right before he attacks Obi-Wan in the first duel. It mimics the same yell/grunt he let out as he was doing the backflip towards Obi-Wan in Episode 3.
10:00 This is what I like about this moment. everyone always asks “is Darth Vader Anakin?” Most would say yes, but in actuality that’s the wrong answer. The real answer to that question is “Yes and No”
@@N8kdmagazine as relevant as this convo is to both the character and Star Wars universe, you guys are well aware of how crazy it is that we are discussing it, right?! 😂🤦🏼♂️
The battle between Obi Wan and Vader gave me chills. Especially at the beginning when Obi Wan said “I’ll do what I must” and at the end when Vader says “Anakin is gone. I am what remains”. Holy smokes I will remember that for a long time. Being someone who loves Revenge Of The Sith and the battle between them then, this whole mini series was perfect. Really tied Episode 3 and 4 together
“Will I ever see you again?” is the last thing Anakin said to his mom as a child, just like Leia asked Obi-Wan. Both met their loved ones much older, something I just realized after watching this video!
But leia never met Obi-Wan according to her in a New Hope when she has to remind him of his service to her father. You don't do that to someone you know you just ask them for help don't hold something over them.
@@AngryDeluxe Re could have been intercepted so she was careful with what she said. In episode 6 when she asked if she will ever see him again he tells her that she cant tell anyone she knows him so in her message she mentioned him helping her father.
Leia’s asking Obi-Wan if she’d ever see him again was so heartfelt. Totally made me cry. Leis had come to love Obi-Wan and it was because of her he reconnected with the Force. She kinda saved him in a way. Love it.
That smile when he says I killed anakin Skywalker you can tell Vader is enjoying seeing his old master emotionally hurting I absolutely loved this scene
@@msatutude17 Pretty much both. In the prequels it was clear that the Jedi Council borderline hated Anakin. Obi-Wan fed into this a bit. However, Anakin was also really weak-minded and was always emotionally driven in almost everything he did. But I think Anakin knows it was mostly his fault. Same reason why his Vader side wants to completely get rid of his Anakin side because his emotions make him make really stupid mistakes.
A really cool, yet really subtle easter egg is the small spaceship toy that Obi-Wan gives Luke (the little one with a red stripe on its wing that he carries around for awhile); it's the same one that you can see Luke playing with in A New Hope just after they've purchased R2 and C3PO. (Around 19:28 into the film) Mind blowing the attention to detail this series had.
I would imagine we will next see a Leia series, where she grows up while seeing a lot of people die for a greater cause (Rebellion), thus making her hardened and/or simply pragmatic, in that a sacrifice of life is unfortunately sometimes a necessary evil. Maybe the comics have already established this, I really haven't read them.
@@beatpeitsi6853 I think a Leia series could be either very good or very boring. I imagine it would be a lot of politics, but they'd have to get Millie Bobby Brown to play her, she'd be perfect for the look of a mid teen Leia. there is a deep fake and it is crazy
@@Admiral_Pumpout A good mixture of surface politics and underground missions (sabotage, espionage, rescue, escape, etc), dealings with respectable and not so respectable people. I have no idea how to write it, so I'll settle for just consuming it if it comes out.
You know what I love so much about the fight finale between master and apprentice? That brief moment after Obi-wan slashes Vader's mask and we get to see Anakin's face once more but with the subtle lighting of the lightsabers on the faces of each other. We get to see Obi-wan's face shaded with a blue hue of his lightsaber representing all that he is as a Jedi and Anakin's with some mix of blue and red but with the red slowly overcoming all the blue which in turn represents (in my certain point of view) the conflict that he has within himself and later on what Luke sees as well. He has good in him, always did, but reverts back to Darth since the weakness of compassion and caring for others, as he sees it, is what didn't allow him to go beyond his own capabilities he thought were necessary to end the war and save the ones he loved dearly. It just open up to me that throughout his life, he was looking for acceptance and connections with others, which he got the latter for the most part, but with the responsibility that the Jedi placed upon him about being the chosen one since he was a boy, that he never felt he had control of his own destiny, hence the constant disobedience of the council and which growing up made him arrogant to begin with.
Maybe #11 … At the end of OWK episode 6: When Vader is in his throne room on Mustafar (with Palpatine watching him), there are two giant, elongated, red-glowing windows behind him. I was instantly reminded of a scene towards the end of Revenge of the Sith: When Vader is in a medical room on Coruscant (with Palpatine watching him) and the face-part of Sith’s helmet is being placed on him for the very first time. We see this from Vader’s POV, as he looks through the two elongated, red-glowing visors in front of him.
You missed Luke saying "I'm not afraid" to Owen before Reva arrived just as he did to Yoda in Empire Strikes Back while he was training and Yoda responding with "You will be... You will be."
Vader already had the scar from mustafar in Revenge of the Sith. If you look at stills of Hayden Christensen's makeup you can clearly see the wound, it's even visible when Vader is in the bacta tank earlier in the Obi-Wan series
Yeah, I said the same thing the moment I saw the thumbnail. And a lot of other videos look to be trying to make the same connection. But if I either behind the scenes for ROTS, they specifically had to go back and add it because George Lucas, or someone else, pointed out he was missing that head wound.
Yes! So many of these videos point to the head scar he definitely already had after RotS. It was even partially visible in ep 1 of the series as Vader was in the bacta.
Before the show I always thought Vader was so slow in that fight because he was being really timid about fighting Obi-Wan again, considering the last time he was left for dead. But with the addition of this fight, I really think he's being timid fighting Obi-Wan since he bested him the last two times they fought.
I would have changed one line in the episode, having Obi-Wan instead say, "Then my brother is truly dead." Would have had a deeper impact and would have served as a call back to what he had said the previous time that they had faced each other.
True. But it matches with alec guiness character when he was talking with luke about his father. He said "He was a cunning warrior... and a good friend."
That last duel was epic. Watched it more than 10x already. That line where Vader said "You didn't kill Obi Wan. I did!" is just so chilling!!! Great job, Disney!
Her message in episode 4 now makes more sense. She was told to keep secret that she knows him. So her message was just in case someone other than Kenobi saw the message. It would appear that they don't know each other. She was keeping the secret.
@@senoram8886 Those are ideas shoehorned into something after the fact. Taking A New Hope on its own as it was written, when it occurred, Leia did not know Ben. Unfortunately you have to suspend belief at the ret-cons that have happened (For example, Ben hearing the name Obi-Wan like he had amnesia and saying he had not heard that name for a 'long, long time" among many others) . If not, you will always be fitting in these things to make these ret-cons make sense. The facts of the matter is that adding things after the fact does not make things gel with what the original narrative intended for its audience.
After witnessing episode VI of Obi Wan Kenobi last night, the quotes from a new hope to return of the Jedi have more meaning now more than ever. 10/10 for the entire series canonically, and it made me appreciate the prequels/OG even further. Impressive, most impressive. Also, Watchmojo came through with their breakdown reaction as usual, and I just knew that Reva will defect away from the dark. Also, Hello There! Edit: Hayden’s and Ewan’s acting in this is phenomenal, specifically the part where Vader yelled his name twice. Qui Gon Jinn's return puts a smile to my face.
At the end of the day, I feel like Reva was completely unnecessary to the story. You could have cut her out entirely and had Vader been the one doing everything she was doing. The focus should have been on those two the entire time and If this was just a movie and we had way more Ewan and Hayden I think the praise would be unreal, Ewan and Hayden did amazing and I'm just grateful that they returned and for their performances.
Reva was pointless in the final part, really. Her survival and bad intention right from the start made no sense throughout the episode. It would have, on the other hand, if Obi gets back to tattotine quickly to fight against her and "free/damage" her for good as being irrelevant to the rest of the franchise.
I think it is time to update that top 20 Star Wars lightsaber battles video. The final duel in this series was an amazing fight, and a bit emotional as well. Also at the end, seeing Liam Neeson come back as Gui-Gon 's ghost had me really excited, but it truly is a shame he gets less then a minute of screen time. Man, if Disney does decide to make a second season, I hope more Qui-Gon is in it. It isn't too far from possible even though they say it is a limited series.
I felt that final duel was the most powerful we seen from Obi-Wan. The way he used the force more throwing all those rocks from behind him at Vader. So awesome. May put this at number 2. My number one is still the final battle with him and Maul in Rebels.
A great detail I like between Obi Wan and Leia’s relationship is that he sees so much of Padme in her that he knows Leia is destined for politics like her mother instead of becoming a Jedi. This explains why Obi Wan never mentioned anything about her being the other hope in ESB when Luke leaves for Bespin.
The other thing that is satisfying is knowing that in some way Obi-Wan might have been partially responsible for Anakin returning to the light when Luke defeats him. Obviously, Obi-Wan cared for him still and couldn't kill his friend. Anakin couldn't kill his master, or the person who taught him so much. The emperor also says it that their fight made him conflicted, especially since Obi-wan was clearly more powerful than usual, he found a reason to fight, other than just the order, he found purpose protecting the kids and the rebels. There was also grief there for what he had done and Vader saw it.
Interesting - I hadn't considered that Obi-Wan became more powerful when thinking about Leia's safety. That's precisely what made Luke powerful in RoTJ, when Vader was taunting Luke, that if he wouldn't turn to the dark side, maybe Leia would. Luke became an absolute animal and beat the crap out of Vader. Obi-Wan did the same after thinking about Leia. Leia is the ultimate powerful lol
Well you also have to look back to ROTS, when Obi-Wan fought Grievous, during their fight, he became stronger in the force, and a more powerful jedi. I believe it's mentioned in the novel, how that duel, or experience, really hieghtened his force capabilities. When it comes to Anakin, he knows his weaknesses, how to strategize the situation to turn out in his favor. Imo, it looked like he reached a new level of "strength" when he rescued Leia from the fortress. The way held back the glass, and water, was to me, almost like a throw back to his duel with Grievous, when he reached a new level of strength in the force.
It was so heartbreaking to see Anakin like that again, and for Obi-Wan to have that grief still, but to also, not put Anakin out of his misery as well. Just like he told Yoda, he won't kill him. I feel for both of those characters, Anakin for being such a tragic figure, and Obi-Wan who I feel, will always carry a burdon of the state that he left Anakin in, and for feeling he had failed him.
What an amazing way to end this season. Everything about it was perfect and all the attention to detail was great. These series have been saving the franchise. Can’t wait for more!
I'm glad to see owen being nice to obi-wan, it was kind of him to let kenobi meet luke. Also i read a comment from another video that in the old expanded universe qui-gon jinn finished his force ghost training and somehow he finished it in canon as well.
Yes in canon he finished his ghost training but it was some time after Return of the Jedi up till this point he could only speak through the force but not manifest.
Obi Wan and Vaders fight really made me cry. And that scene between Leia and Obi, plus that Qui-Gon cameo at the end made me really happy. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be
When Vade told Obiwan he didn't kill Anakin, the screen is blue, he is talking as Anakin but when Vader told him he killed Anakin, the screen turned red. Really loves these details
When Kenobi said, “Then my friend is truly dead” is similar to what Luke says to his father in Return of the Jedi. 🥺😢😭 The dialogue during the fight between Kenobi and Vader reminds me of when Ahsoka faces Vader.
This episode was the best of them all. The amount of details in the fight between Vader and Obi Wan, finally I get to see a badass fight like the good old times.
I love how the great and powerful actors of star wars are now acknowledging the memes and I love how they tried so hard for the Obi Wan Kenobi to match up with a New Hope that way the timeline of star wars stays intact without breaking it
Haha well they didn’t exactly do a good job here did they? Just by making Obi Wan and Vader meet between EpIII and EpIV just proves they don’t know continuety.
The Skeletal Revenant style of Vader’s face when his mask is cut open by Obi-Won, is a Perfect Style. He looks less like a man and more like a vengeful spirit, or a Draugr. A Haunted Spirit manifested in physical form. Vaders emotions have altered his appearance as well as his soul.
The Dark Side corrupts in of itself, but also Vader only eats solid foods when he's alone in his chambers, as he can't remove his helmet outside of it as he'd asphyxiate, if I recall right. Either way, he mostly just has what he needs nutrition wise pumped into his body as part of his life support. Which is why he's a dangerous foe to have pursuing you - he can outlast. As for the Dark side of the Force causing corruption, it can get to the point where it kills - Darth Marr, for example, was a powerful Sith Lord, and was so immersed in the Dark Side that it had essentially rendered him a leper. He was losing physical and emotional feeling and sensation, his visage had become so ravaged that at one point he punished a Moff by inviting him to a private audience, where it's rumoured he showed the man his face, because immediately after, the Moff resigned and offed himself, driven mad by whatever Marr showed him.
Having watched a lot of reactors about Epi 6 of Obi Wan, I was honestly surprised no one mentioned that the toy skyhopper that Obi Wan gave Luke at the end was the same toy you see Mark Hamill flying around in Epi IV: A New Hope in the garage scene cleaning the droids. Again surprised it wasn't one of the 10 things in this video.
@@kaliban2747 As I've seen other vids do, I'd have probably added it as a bonus. If I had to replace something? Probably Vader's wheezing breathing as I doubt anyone that saw Epi VI: RotJ missed that.
You say Obi-Wan's selflessness, but he was even confronted about how it wasn't really about them, but about his own desire to face Vader. He just used the excuse that it was about their own safety to leave.
The attention to detail and many connections back to Star Wars canon is most satisfying for fans that can spot it. These guys truly know what they’re doing now under Favreau and Filoni’s leadership.
Notice how when Vader says "you didn't kill Anakin Skywalker's. I did." You can see the mix between the red and blue glow on his face. As if to show that Anakin is still in there and he's fighting Vader. But then it cuts to Obi's face and it's all blue, showing he is all light side of the force. But then the blue color fades away from his face. As to show that maybe Obi-wan is not sure about the light side of the force after seeing Vader. And then when we cut back to Vader's face, and its covered in all red. No blue to be seen. As if to show that Vader is suppressing Anakin and only Vader is in control.
Plus, Obi-Wan is fully aware that it's a life support system, whereas some of Vader's other opponents may have mistaken the whole getup as just a scary costume that he chose to wear.
Oh hell yes! I saw the first showings of the first three films in Hollywood and the moment Obi Wan split Darth's helmet I instantly flashed on the the back of Vader's head in "Empire Strikes Back." This series was profound nostalgia bait.
Seeing how the fight between Obi-Wan and Vader finshed was really heart-breaking, their releationship was like the heart of the prequel trilogy. I was also happy to be Qui-Gon Jinn as well.
Darth Vader: "Ur strength.....has returned......but the WEAKNESS remains......and that is why u will always LOSE" Man, when he hit Obi Wan with that line (and the "Force Quake") it blew my mind......🤣
I just rewatched the scene from Revenge of the Sith. His face was burned, which would of likely scarred but there weren't any deep slashes or cuts on his head or face. Its pretty clear from Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 6 that those injuries were fresh (aside from the burn scars) and it was meant to show that Obi-Wan gave him the injury in this episode.
@@alexoelkers2292 It’s definitely visible in revenge of the sith when his armor is going on. It’s also visible in this series when he’s putting his armor on the first time.
@@WilliamAfton.exe_ mental gymnastics? lol I'm not sure if you know what that term means. All I said is that I watched the scene in revenge of the sith and saw burns but didn't see any deep cuts or slashes on his head or face. And that they appear fresh on this episode of Obi wan. Thats hardly "mental gymastics" bud. But if you disagree than right on guy! not that important!
I think they set it up for him to do a season 2. That would be for me the last season to set up before episode 4. It’s definitely doable. We could see his training with qui gon and seeing yoda once more. As well as training reva
Vader saying "Then you will die" before igniting his lightsaber gave me goosebumps to the time he faced ahsoka and said the same thing. Both Obi Wan and Ahsoka didn't disappoint with their fights against their friend and master
You forgot to mention the fact that in Episode 4, while Luke is cleaning C3PO (oil bath) he briefly plays with the spaceship toy that Obi Wan gave him at the end of the series.
Obi Wan is Oscar worthy. The storyline is phenomenal. I’m a 40 year fan so I’m not easily deceived and it was air tight. To be honest the lightsaber duel was one of the best I ever seen! watching obi wan build his confidence back up and confronting Vader has to be the most classic duel ever
6:30 By the time Ben dies, Leia is probably emotionally numb. She had just watched her entire planet, including the only ones she ever knew as her parents get blown up. PTSD can do that to a person. "Luke, it's too late!" is the perfect line at that moment.
I saw A New Hope back in 1977 when I was 8, between the ending of Mandalorian Season 2, and now this final episode of Obi Wan, my Star Wars calls have now been answered, anything extra is just an appreciated bonus. Best universe ever made, Thank you Lucas, thank you Disney.
Loved the show, it was everything i was expecting... But it also made me realize, Obi-wan said "I'll do what i must" twice already and neither of those times could he go through with it. Years later he expected Luke his own son to go through with it. I know he said "You must face Vader again" but when Luke replied "I can't kill my own father" Obi-wan implied that's what he meant.
And you guys missed other things as well: The parallel of Obi Wan saying: "Then my friend is truly dead", with Luke saying in Return of the Jedi: "Then my father is truly dead." Also you didn't even mention Luke saying: "I'm not afraid." the same phrase he will say to Yoda in Empire. Also if you look closely, Luke's outfit in the end is similar to the outfit he is wearing in A New Hope, and when Luke kicks Vader's and made him fly across the throne room and Vader says: "Obi Wan as taught you well," it because here Obi Wan throw Vader across the place a lot too. So yeah guys, you missed a lot other things
I did like how they layered the voices of James Earl Jones and Hayden when the mask was damaged. Darth and Obi-wan had chances to finish each other off before a New Hope which doesnt make a lot of sense but good for the story.
No Not in my opinion You see Ben really cared for his friend and apprentice for years before he didn't really want to kill him i think he wanted to save him from himself. Would You really want to kill your best Bud you've known for years ?
I've always found it interesting how Anakin Skywalker was really the victim... he allowed Palpatine to seduce him by making him believe he could save those around him from dying... he made himself more a victim for the evil Emperor Palpatine destroying any traces of the man Anakin that was good....then finally redeeming himself from the dark side and not being a victim any longer by saving his son Luke destroying the Emperor and his evil self from the dark side returning to the light side of the force
That’s why Darth Vader is such a compelling character. There’s so many facets and layers to him. In the prequels we got to see how exactly young Anakin gets to that low point of turning to the Dark Side, and now with this show we get to see how the decade that passed after Revenge of the Sith fueled his anger and rage, making him the most feared and dangerous he’s ever been. That aspect was the coolest part of this show, us witnessing Vader in his prime as a Sith Lord. And then of course all of these events give his arc in the original trilogy fresh context and perspective. By the end of Return of the Jedi, we get to see that Anakin was never truly gone, but it took his own flesh and blood to bring him back from the darkness. One of the best characters in all sci-fi!!

His kids were all he had of padme, the only person Both Vader and Anakin loved. We see him pondering this while the emperor zaps the shit out of Luke. He essentially couldn't let padme die again because of him.
YES! I was crying during that scene
Vader becomes Anakin again, the moment that Luke throws that lightsaber away. It's Luke's final trial, but also Anakin's final lesson. Luke is basically saying "you might kill me, and might try to convert my sister, but I will have nothing to do with this."
Of all the people Vader knew, only Luke had been put in a similar situation. Only Luke could show him the way out. If Luke could choose death over darkness, then so could Vader. That is literally what happens. Vader chooses to end his dark path, even though it will kill him.
Get off the crack. This show was terrible. Such infantile adults.
Another connection! It gets even better!
The way I see it, Vader telling Obi-Wan that Vader "killed" him wasn't the Sith Lord taking credit, but Anakin giving his friend closure reassuring Obi-Wan that it wasn't his fault, but he did it to himself.
That makes some sense, especially after the Emperor questioned his feelings towards Obi-Wan.
I think that was one of my favorite scenes in the finale
The overwhelming blue lighting of the saber at that moment enforces that idea. When it's blue it's Anakin talking, when it's red it's Darth
Right after he called him "master" ♥
thats such a great way to put it!
For me the use of lighting in this series was subtle, but highly effective. Loved the way anakin's exposed face would have blue reflections on parts of his dialogue and then went to red when the Vader in him came back out. A classy little touch 👍
Glad other people noticed!
Beautiful point
wait what? i thought they moved like shit because they were old and hadn't used their elaborate skills in ages. what does technology have to do with how they didnt fight elaborately in the original series
@@MasterKeyMagic because the lightsabers were different back then, they had some cable coming out and going up their sleeve
“You have failed, master.”
“Goodbye Darth”
To
“When I left you I was but the learner, but now I am the master”
“Only a master of evil Darth.”
I love the detail when the lightsaber colors reflected on Darth Vader from Blue to show Anikin and then to Red to show Darth Vader.
A padawan and a master saw his pale face
Ashoka cuts the left side
Obi wan cuts the right
And luke takes the helmet off completely
It’s only people he loves or once loved.
Because fighting those people throws his power out of balance.
Anakin loved his master and apprentice.
Hence why he couldn't dog walk them
one nice nod they did was the fact when Vader said "you didnt kill Anakin skywalker. I did" resolves the "vader killed your dad" line in a new up and "its true to a certain point of view" in return of the jedi
That was… What they said?
Anakin Skywalker was weak, I destroyed him
The final Vader obi wan fight legit gave me goosebumps and brought me right back to being a kid again. Even the dialogue afterword was AMAZING. After seeing that I’d love to see this director helming a new trilogy. The way he portrayed Vader was perfect and reminded everyone why he is one of the greatest villains of all time.
Not a “he” director, her name is Debra Chow
I don't know what it is, but hearing that wheeze again when Obi-Wan damaged Vader's life support really broke my heart.
Same. 😭
Same, I think because when you heard that noise in episode 6 it was right before he took off his mask and completed his redemption arc. Big moment.
Here’s something you missed. When Reva attacked Owen the leg she hit is the one he limps on in ANH.
WOW
That I noticed!

Physically Yes , mindset and mentally no . Vader constantly has battles with anakin in his mind
Same body but not person
Not only that, but said loved one immediately dies upon their later meeting. Poetry!
Yea it was almost what we've been waiting to hear from him.. that's was the hig question.. did obi wan fail anakin or did anakin betray himself?
Yep. I was like so that’s where that toy came from.

Hayden Christensen did an amazing job! I just wish they included him more throughout the series.
I love how the story of Anakin Skywalker is just so damn heartbreaking! This last episode was the best of the series.
Leia not mourning in the original movie kinda makes sense as she barely mourned her entire planet going KABOOM.
She also seen Obi wan putting himself in danger to protect her, so her first thought would be we have to leave soon
@@beatpeitsi6853 I think a Leia series could be either very good or very boring. I imagine it would be a lot of politics, but they'd have to get Millie Bobby Brown to play her, she'd be perfect for the look of a mid teen Leia. there is a deep fake and it is crazy

I loved this series. Such a fantastic progression of the prequels and connection to the original trilogy. They nailed it.
" You didn't kill Anakin Skywalker... I did !" Proof that his self loathing was the fuel he needed to reach the summits of the dark side !
Maybe #11 …
At the end of OWK episode 6:
When Vader is in his throne room on Mustafar (with Palpatine watching him), there are two giant, elongated, red-glowing windows behind him.
I was instantly reminded of a scene towards the end of Revenge of the Sith:
When Vader is in a medical room on Coruscant (with Palpatine watching him) and the face-part of Sith’s helmet is being placed on him for the very first time. We see this from Vader’s POV, as he looks through the two elongated, red-glowing visors in front of him.
Seeing Qui-Gon return in this series was amazing!
This was by far the best star wars thing since return of the Jedi
You missed Luke saying "I'm not afraid" to Owen before Reva arrived just as he did to Yoda in Empire Strikes Back while he was training and Yoda responding with "You will be... You will be."
Man, good catch. I completely missed that.
I came here to say this
@@EvergreenA3_KCHS Same!
Yoda didn't say good.
@@Kyle-2020 edited... He definitely said something though lol
I don't know if this counts for the list, but when Luke said "I'm not afraid", I immediately thought "you will be... you will be".
Ezra said this to vader in rebels. Vader replied 'then you will die braver than most.'
Yodas face became very scary when he said that, that line always scared me as a kid.
Vader already had the scar from mustafar in Revenge of the Sith. If you look at stills of Hayden Christensen's makeup you can clearly see the wound, it's even visible when Vader is in the bacta tank earlier in the Obi-Wan series
I was about to say the same thing
^ This.
That kinda makes the whole slow raise of his head in that specific spot pointless.
The lightsaber slash across Vader's spine (plus age) could also explain how much slower of a fighter he is by Rogue One/Episode 4.
Or the fact that he is about 80 pounds bigger in the original trilogy???
Or the fact that it’s an older movie which can’t match todays fights and cgi.
@@Sandouras You're not wrong! But it doesn't explain anything in-universe.
Before the show I always thought Vader was so slow in that fight because he was being really timid about fighting Obi-Wan again, considering the last time he was left for dead. But with the addition of this fight, I really think he's being timid fighting Obi-Wan since he bested him the last two times they fought.
Pretty sure it's age. Jedi and Sith have been shown to diminish with age
I would have changed one line in the episode, having Obi-Wan instead say, "Then my brother is truly dead."
Would have had a deeper impact and would have served as a call back to what he had said the previous time that they had faced each other.
Right! I was surprised too
Very true!!
Not with disney
True. But it matches with alec guiness character when he was talking with luke about his father. He said "He was a cunning warrior... and a good friend."
Not only that, but it would mimic what Luke said to Vader in RoTJ - "then my father is truly dead"
That last duel was epic. Watched it more than 10x already. That line where Vader said "You didn't kill Obi Wan. I did!" is just so chilling!!! Great job, Disney!
You mean ‘great job, lucasfilm’?
Her message in episode 4 now makes more sense. She was told to keep secret that she knows him. So her message was just in case someone other than Kenobi saw the message. It would appear that they don't know each other. She was keeping the secret.
Plus, when Luke knows her, she become anxious when he mentions Ben kenobi
@@senoram8886 Those are ideas shoehorned into something after the fact. Taking A New Hope on its own as it was written, when it occurred, Leia did not know Ben. Unfortunately you have to suspend belief at the ret-cons that have happened (For example, Ben hearing the name Obi-Wan like he had amnesia and saying he had not heard that name for a 'long, long time" among many others) . If not, you will always be fitting in these things to make these ret-cons make sense. The facts of the matter is that adding things after the fact does not make things gel with what the original narrative intended for its audience.
What I question now is when Obi Wan looked to the side and smirked before letting Vader strike him down, was he looking at Luke or Leia?
@@guibox3 “9 years is a long long time though!” I don’t understand how people think the story was written 40 years ago and had just now been executed.

They had a diversity quota to satisfy
@@dongquixote7138 well, Vader is black enough dont you think? :D
Reva was pointless in the final part, really. Her survival and bad intention right from the start made no sense throughout the episode.
This so reminds me of their battle on Mustafar.
Qui-gon, Darth Maul, for Obiwan season 2.
I felt that final duel was the most powerful we seen from Obi-Wan. The way he used the force more throwing all those rocks from behind him at Vader. So awesome. May put this at number 2. My number one is still the final battle with him and Maul in Rebels.
@@williammcdowell3718 and Yoda.
My return was great! Until I found out 2 other people in this show got stabbed the same way I did, except they survived...
Finally some good lightsaber fighting again. All the twirling and classic obiwan stance got me in the feels.
The scar on top of vader's head came from the battle on mustafar with Obi-Wan. When you see him burning, you can notice the wound atop his head
Exactly. Anakins skin breaked because of the high heat.. That scar was never from a lightsaber

You say Obi-Wan's selflessness, but he was even confronted about how it wasn't really about them, but about his own desire to face Vader.
He just used the excuse that it was about their own safety to leave.

I love how as of this moment his first and last words are Hello There. It just makes me smile.
Notice how when Vader says "you didn't kill Anakin Skywalker's. I did."
You can see the mix between the red and blue glow on his face.
I would add that maybe it was in part from his experience fighting General Grievous that he had the idea to go after Vader’s life support system.
Plus, Obi-Wan is fully aware that it's a life support system, whereas some of Vader's other opponents may have mistaken the whole getup as just a scary costume that he chose to wear.
Qui Gon is my all time favorite Jedi, so seeing him on screen again was a very welcome surprise
Oh hell yes! I saw the first showings of the first three films in Hollywood and the moment Obi Wan split Darth's helmet I instantly flashed on the the back of Vader's head in "Empire Strikes Back." This series was profound nostalgia bait.

Qui-Gon Jinn finally appearing, he and D Maul are my fav characters.
The broken helmet voice!
Obi-Wan: "I'm gonna rock you... LIKE A HURRICANE!" *throws a storm of rocks on Vader*
Seeing how the fight between Obi-Wan and Vader finshed was really heart-breaking, their releationship was like the heart of the prequel trilogy.
I was also happy to be Qui-Gon Jinn as well.
Notice the quote “then you will die” from rebels!
Darth Vader: "Ur strength.....has returned......but the WEAKNESS remains......and that is why u will always LOSE"

"We don't have time for our sorrows, Commander," Leia
It was thrilling to see Qui-Gon Jinn again on the latest Star Wars episode.
Good confirmation about the scar. I noticed it and made the connection as well.
Finally, someone calls out how Obi-Wan refers to Anakin as “Darth” before he leaves, setting up how old Ben refers to him in ANH.
did that NEED to be set-up, did it?
For me this was literally the best Star Wars anything
I did like how they layered the voices of James Earl Jones and Hayden when the mask was damaged. Darth and Obi-wan had chances to finish each other off before a New Hope which doesnt make a lot of sense but good for the story.
No Not in my opinion You see Ben really cared for his friend and apprentice for years before he didn't really want to kill him i think he wanted to save him from himself. Would You really want to kill your best Bud you've known for years ?
The smiles of vader and obi won mirror each other…. Like poetry
Just how the films were written
Loved seeing the great Liam Neeson come as Qui-Gon
