What Google Lens features do you think could be useful?
Text selection will be super useful. Especially with translating foreign text and signs.
The text selection for translation. Before Assistant they had the Now On Tap feature which allowed for this exact feature, and as a language learner I used it almost daily to help me brush up on my skills. I've posted about my frustration at this being removed for the past 2 years, and I'm very glad to see it return now!
For knowing the products and things you need to know. Also helps you to gather a lot of knowledge
Virtual 3D images is Amazing! But translator and object identifier would be very useful for our day to day life.

I think the technology is very aspirational. But its not practical yet. I definitely know what you mean, I've used Google Lens on my Pixel and its not reliable at all. After getting like 5-6 things wrong you kinda lose faith in it and stop using it altogether. But I hope it gets better and more reliable in the future. That would be awesome.

Mil De Silva yeah, remember Google translate 5 years ago? Yikes the translation was so bad it's almost like it made a new dialect. And now here we are a few years down the line able to translate slang words and weird syntax (at least from English to my first language). Every new tech just need time and consistent development, and we all know Google has that consistency for a while now

but knowing google it will probably only get better over time with all the data they harvest.

I used Google Lens on a (dark, poorly lit) photo my mom sent me of a wrinkled USPS receipt and was able to have it transcribe the entire receipt and then copy the tracking number for the package. That's when I really fell in love with Lens. I hadn't been sure if Lens could even do that but was too lazy to try and copy the number myself, so I was pleasantly surprised. Google Lens is so convenient and amazing. At first, it's like "okay, this is cool and fun to play with, but what's the point?" and then you get used to it and can't imagine life without it.
The finished product of all of this seems unbelievable at this point

The text to phone input could be life changing for college students. I hated typing or using the surface pen to write notes because I still prefer my pen and paper.
The first presentation of a new product which was not staged! There were some times when it failed and thats sympathetic!
It's amazing how in their completely contrived, purposefully set up environment, with specifically-chosen items with good separation between items and perfect lighting, it STILL isn't very reliable.
Hopefully it gets significant improvement by full release.

I used it on my spanish test. I used it to find out where the character in someone's profile pic was from! I used it to see if a spider was deadly or not... Dude this thing is crazy!

You can open the google photos app on iOS. This feature is in there as well
I had iPhones since the 3G, up until the 7 Plus, and love the Pixel since I've switched.
J Arnett Apple isnt about inventing new features. Its about building up the tech and forming an ecosystem around the feature. For example, Apple released FACE ID with night view and 3d face scanning. Android didn't have those abilities until 1.5 years after its release. (S8 to S9) it still doesnt work as well as Face ID
Another example, the S8 had a button to expand youtube videos to full screen. When thw iphone x released 1 year later, it had a pinch gesture to easily full screen a video. Android adopted this weeks later. Who cares about new features when those features are unsupported?
Android copied Push Notifications. They recently copied gesture navigation. Right after Apple did it. They also removed their headphone jack. Because they finally realize some people like bluetooth headphones better because no wires. Android fanboys always act like Apple copies and people blindly follow. When in reality they wait to build up the tech instead of trying to be first.
After a long time I am having the urge to move on to Android again from iOS. The stuff looks cool and usable.

This is pretty awesome, but it is clear that the technology still has a long way to go. In another CNET video when they were testing it on the same dog image, it said that the picture was a corgi, not a Norwegian lundehund. I'm pretty sure Corgi is the correct answer.

I'm sorry but what's much better about this then simply asking a shop assistant or someone nearby what the item is? This smart item detection system to work out specifically what object you are looking at so that it can tell you is so overdone, I like that AR is now being heavily adopted by both Android or Apple but can we have a lot more serious use cases popping out? None of these pointing at an artwork so I can do cool things with the artwork. How about being able to see how a clothing item featured in a magazine will fit my friend by pointing the camera at the item and then dragging it onto my friend on AR?
I only use lens to identify birds and buildings. Otherwise it says. Not seeing this clearly.
The thing is, it's aimed to work on pictures that are taken.
Well if you're socially awkward it's a lot more difficult to talk to a stranger at a store, as well as it's plenty easier and quicker to use Google lens than to talk to a person

Google Lens is always work well when you connect to the Wifi, and here in the Philippines we don't have many wifi on public place, and if there's available, you can connect just only 1hr or even worst 30 mins, and the data we have here is very slow like the network Smart and Globe they are slow in connections. So Sad Philippines.
That's why 4G is useful. Public WiFi is not that current too in Western countries
4G is not available widely here in the Philippines and the current speed of Internet here is 4 mbps
