Recreate Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger please!!!
Elizondough i doubt that he will, because the song uses a sample of another song
He isnt doctor sample :-p
@@lastsaiyan8461 Right. "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" almost entirely sampled "Cola-bottle Baby" by Edwin Birdsong, which is a funk song -- what Daft Punk did was simply putting the modulated voice over the original song.
ua-cam.com/video/_ySG0pfrYLI/v-deo.html A very nice recreation of this!
@@anthonyqiu1442 Anthony Nan Qiu So true. Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter started out as 'Darling' instrumental indie cover band; the current recording name derives from a review in U.K. music weekly Melody Maker of a compilation tape Darling were featured on, released by Krautrock revivalists Stereolab (their lo-fi D.I.Y. cover of a Beach Boys song was derided as "daft punk").
So 'sampling Funk' as you say makes sense because they were all Funk / Indie Pop focused until they went to that fateful rave party in gayee Paris' and discovered electronica.
You already know this but most of the fanbase doesn't. Doctor Mix kind of butchered the 'Faster, Better..' vocoder cover but yeah one can only do so much. 😛
But you my friend, definitely know the score.
No request, Just keep being yourself. Caught myself smiling throughout this entire video. Total enjoyment.
I didn't know the dj from GTA had a UA-cam channel
Yawny Games I genuinely need validation weather he is or not
Matt Long lmao
Soulwax?
Great list, but (and you knew these comments were coming..lol), but what about..
Mr. Roboto : Styx
Funky Town : Lipps Inc
Intergalactic : Beastie Boys
I feel like eating a mudokon pop right now
Operator - Midnight Star
lofis in ibiza- Lo fidelity All Stars
Radio GaGa by Queen
"Under Attack" by ABBA
My favorite vocoded song has to be “Hide and Seek” by Imogen Heap
So simple but powerful.
MMM WHATCHA SAYYY
He gotta do it.
What the hell is going on?
Hiiiiiiide and seeeeeek... I just love that song. ^_^
Yes
You guys actually doing such great job to keeping up appearances of the old classic hits, making sure they never die...
"The Raven" has always given me the goosebumps. Amazing reinterpretation by the way!
What?
No Mr. Roboto by Styx???
どうもありがとう、ミスターロバート、また会う日まで
domo arigato
this guy is more euro. Hence kraftwerk and the dance stuff He might not even know Styx.
@@jacobbrown1690 The song Mr. Roboto is known worldwide.
That is singing
Dohmo arigatoh misutah robotto
mata auhimade
Dohmo arigatoh misutah robotto

„Wir fahr‘n, fahr‘n, fahr‘n, auf der Autobahn“ - those were the days. Nowadays we use to stand on the Autobahn. :(
Another excellent video of yours, though. :)
That's because everyone wants to be the first, respect is a thing you are looking for in vain. Another thing is that some drvers, especially those of big and expensive cars behave as if the streets belong to them. I think that it won't take more than further 5 yrs until the right of the strong rules on Germany streets, as police controls are in fact invisible and seem to be not present
that reminds me that many non German speakers thought the lyrics were "fun, fun, fun on the Autobahn ..." 🤣
Fab Funty always thought it was vahm, a word I made up and assumed was the German version of vroom
_In the Air Tonight_ --- *Phil Collins* (1981)
_Mr. Roboto_ --- *Styx* (1983)
_Operator_ --- *Midnight Star* (1984)
_I Just Called to Say I Love You_ --- *Stevie Wonder* (1984)
_Body Talk_ --- *The Deele* (1984) - - - featured in the pilot episode of the television show _Miami Vice_
_Big Bad Wolf_ --- *The Wolf Sisters* (1985) - - - from the school dance scene of the 1985 movie _Teen Wolf_
_Living on a Prayer_ --- *Bon Jovi* (1986) - - - Sambora uses a *talk box* but the effect is similar to a vocoder
_California Love_ --- *2Pac* featuring *Dr. Dre* & *Roger Troutman* (1995) - - - Troutman famously used *talk boxes* instead of vocoders
Diary of Horace Wimp
I Just Called to Say I Love You
by Stevie Wonder HAS to be on this list & video. It topped the charts in 19 countries so I don’t know how it gets overlooked.
@@electrictroy2010 Smh. Don't know how I missed it given that I videotaped that episode of the Cosby Show where Wonder guest stars, which occurred during the first season of the show at the height of that song's popularity. I updated the list. Any other blatantly obvious ones I missed?
Thanks
In the Air doesn't use vocoder. It's more of a reverse reverb
How on earth did 902 ppl thumb this down?? One of the most entertaining synth videos ever, so funny and entertaining yet interesting. You are one of a kind Dr. Mix , love it❤
Maybe because he sang Ottobahn instead of Autobahn.
I think a lot are accidental I look down and find Myself liking/disliking videos all the time by accident.
@@matthiasmartin1975 LOL
@@matthiasmartin1975 😂😂😂
Because we hate the current fad of turning the vocoder dial up to eleven on all pop. And these songs made it sound like a good idea.
Love a good vocoder track ... ELO - Mr Blue Sky and Horace Wimp, Mantronix - Needle To The Groove, Egyptian Lover - Egypt, Egypt - this video needs a Part 2 👍
Definitely need more E.L.O.
@@SpeccyMan every every day of my life needs more ELO.
@@SpeccyMan Yes add Yours Truly 2095.
Bwahahahahah, you smashing that crash in the middle of the road with people looking at you and thinking you're crazy LOLOLOOOLLL 🤣🤣🤣🤣
You could never accuse Claudio of being "middle of the road" lol
Hahahaha!! I only noticed people looking at me while editing the video!!! 😂😂
@@Doctormix The girl in the corner at 8:21
It's otherwise a very sedate area. The most alarming thing the residents normally encounter are the lycra cycling costumes of the commuters passing through.
_"I say Jocasta, there's a chap in the street filming himself hitting a cymbal ... very aggressively"_
'Don't worry Dear, he's probably from a local Klesmer-Techno-Flamenco crossover band and got lost on his way to a gig in Shoreditch'
_"Ah I see, culture and so forth .. very good...Ok then, more Earl Grey and Empire biscuit Dear? "_
Well ACTUALLY... it seems to be a ride, not a crash 😅
The "Kelly Watch the Stars" was a pleasant surprise. It's been quite a while since I've listened to Air's "Moon Safari". Also ELO's "Time" is one of my all time favourites, so "Prologue" was awesome to hear.
I've been wanting to buy a vocoder, mainly because of "Prologue"..!
Alternate title: "Let's Groove Tonight" "P.Y.T." and 8 songs I've never heard before. But it answered my question of what does a vocoder sound like. It is quite a bit different than a talkbox. I think what I am really looking for is auto-tune but my old voice is so bad I may need the vocoder after all.
How can you not know at least half of these?
@@gapster77 Cause we in the USA lmao
Your lack of musical knowledge should not be considered a reference….
I just want you to say "Well I remembah!" from In the Air Tonight. I've always wanted to do it 😂
YES Earthling
Was that Vocoder? It doesn't sound like one. It sounded like some other effect, no?
@@vuhdeem It is a vocoder on a synth chord.
Dude yes
Vegetable lol
Mad as ever 🤪 But so infectious and loveable. You always bring a smile to my face. Just what the Doctor ordered!
LOVED your interpretation of The Raven!!! Never seen anyone do it before. THANK YOU! Totally made my day!
I would love to spend a day with you-- Your sense of humor cracks me up every time and your talent is awe inspiring. Thank you!
I know it’s not the most famous but Herbie Hancock’s use of vocoder (such as on the Lite Me Up or Sunlight albums) has got to be some of the most expressive ever.
I mean he literally use it as a proper singing voice.
Love Herbie
Hancock is the first person I ever heard use the Vocoder.
@@gerroldmayfield3346 Same for me, probably in Rockit.
The drum machine in this one seem more, you know, organic, natural.
I cant put my finger on it..!
:P
Is that the behringer clone?
a very organic drum machine was used in this video
The Raven sold me. I need that thing. Was the first LP I ever bought.
That’s the most fun 9 minutes I’ve had in a long time!
Claudio, your version of The Raven was absolutely beautiful, i wish you'll cover the whole song one day :-)
I love that you included some Alan Parsons, Tales of Mystery and Imagination is so often overlooked compared to I, Robot and Eye in the Sky
I thought for sure "Hide & Seek" would have made this list!
I’m so impressed you did The Raven - don’t imagine many of your subs would know that one. Tales of Mystery and Imagination. Plus ELO Prologue from TIME. Surprised there was no Johnzun Crew - Lost in Space tracks here.
APP is my favourite band of all time!
Such a good Band. Im confident that I'm the only person below 20 years old who even has heard of the band
Great energy, lovely humor. You're awesome Claudio!
I actually saw Kraftwerk live 2 weeks ago on their concert in Barcelona, it was amazing!
joncojon saw them in Detroit in 2015 and in Milwaukee in 2008. Fantastic shows.
Was it them? Or plastic them?
I just went and listened to that entire Rockets album. Amazing. I love it, thanks!
Sennheiser Vocoder VSM201.
WHAT MAKES THE CHANNEL SO GREAT APART FROM YOUR CONTENT IS YOUR PERSONALITY.
Love the songs, the vocalizing, your energy and enthusiasm!
Love this - reminds you of all those great tracks you haven't listened to ages. Thanks for sharing another great video.
OMG I found the song I’ve been looking for all these years ever since I saw it on MTV!!! “O Superman” Thank You! Great, now I can’t get it out of my head! lol
8:18 normally your *happy-feel-good-energy* is a bit *too much* for my taste, but this moment was super funny. :)
8:19 You need a GIF of this on your website
Oh Superman was around when I was little and it gave me the eeby jeebys! Haha! Great video!
When musicians and Keyboard are one unity... Love vocoding! Nice job.
You have a fantastic ear, to suss out the relevant parts of the tune. Awesome really.
Still after 38 Years the Vocoderpart of „Prologue" from ELO brings me goosebumps every time ;o)
I was really emotional playing that
Should have finished with ELO’s “Please turn me o-ver” from the end of Mr Blue Sky (and the end of side A of that album)
I’m SOOOO glad he included ELO. Classic album… Time!
Wow! …thank you Doctor. Just what I needed
Pretty good german at "Autobahn" ;-) Greetings from Hamburg, Germany
Exactly what i thought.
Greetz from Wilhelmshaven.
100km north of hamburg
HA...greetings from Bremen 😉
greetings from stuttgart
Bester Mann haha

Dr Mix is the Best! Greetings from Cologne 🤩
You know you’re doing something right, when you get an automatic content match from a cover version of a song 👌🏻🍻
Hahaha!!! You noticed that ;-)
I love you Doctor Mix. You are are funny and quite a good musician! Always a pleasure and loads of fun to watch your videos. :-)
This channel must be massive ! ... keep doint your work pal, youre great !
Congratulation! As a german I have to say: For an english native speaker, you sing "fahr´n fahr´n auf der Autobahn" very accent free. :-)
Sounds German to me
The Raven! I wasn't expecting that tune, great choice
So much fun in each new vid. Please go on!
I love watching your videos! You can tell you love making your videos. You really put alot into your videos. You really deserve more subscribers 👍
*I move away from the mic to "doop"
Should’ve done the “Who’s watching, Tell me who’s watching” part in Somebody’s watching me by Rockwell that would’ve been awesome
Not sure if that's the Bode or its twin the Moog, one of the EMS's or the Roland VP-330?!? I don't think it's the SVC-350, bnsat??
Just repeat on this video on Kelly Watch The Stars & The Raven part. Start to listening to the songs for the first time and instantly love them. Probably my favourite vocoder songs from this list ❤️
EMI Harmony Vocoder.
stunning.................. now to rush out and buy the gear and spend the next 20 years learning.......... awesome dr---mix
How can you forget Boogie Down Bronx by Man Parrish, Computer Age (Push the Button) by Newcleus, and Clear by Cybotron! Classic Electro!
yes! all good choices. I suggested more bounce to the ounce, freakazoid, stretch by bt express, Mr. groove by One Way.
@@mitchwinthrop Mr. Groove!! The Jam!
Yea... great mentions!! Those and "Don't Stop The Rock" as well.
Frampton: Do you feel like I do?
Stillwater: Mindbender
This guy is so excited, it’s amazing, make my day!
Awesome Awesome demo/video! Dr Mix KEEP THEM COMING PLEASE!
Hey , Its cool video as always. If i may i would like to add few more hehe if you say about Kraftwerk we should says something also about Jean Michel Jarre i think for example " Revolution, Revolutions " Another very common track with voc is Bomfunk MC's - (Crack It) Something Going On
hehe i know its very short and only few words but i think if we ask anybody " do you remember song which start like this"rocket we will rocket" hehe You know what i mean, ;) I think we could adds few more probably but time heheh, anyway ...It was another awesome video from You Dr Mix . Thank You and wait for more hehe ;)
XeNoS Music Revolution, Revolutions sounds like a computer synthesised voice

Thanks !!!!
OMFG YOU ANSWERED
Of course I do
I was just happy seeing a VC340 demo!
allways brighten my day up man keep the awsome vids coming NEXXXTT
1:19 The groove is too real my brother.
Wow never thought I’d see Laurie Anderson pop up
Ha, this is great! Good work Dr. Mix! Love that Behringer VC340, wow. Behringer is killing it.
Hahaha your the man! I always come back and re watch this video
Well done, Doctor, again. Gotta love that enthusiasm.
Regarding Kraftwerk: I really like the English versions of those older Kraftwerk songs, but the Robots imho kind of lost in the translation. "Wirrr sind die Rrrroboterrrr" just sounds so much better in the German original don't you think?
I prefer the German versions of all the Kraftwerk albums. I can't even spraken deutsch...
There are English versions?!
@@MilesBader Sure there are are - like the one Doctor Mix showed in this video. I guess the most famous one that was done both languages is Das Model / The Model.
@@CounternoiseMusic There's an English version of Autobahn?! I mean, I don't doubt you, but I've heard this song a zillion times since the 1970s, and every time it was in German...
@@MilesBader I don't know about Autobahn, I mainly refered to the Robots and The Model. I think in Autobahn the German lyrics are so integral to the music composition and arrangement, that they left it as is for the international audience.
That was awesome man !!! Especially THE RAVEN. I don't have enough room in my live rig setup for ANOTHER keyboard. Any suggestions on a smaller footprint vocoder that doesn't involve adding a computer to the mix ? Does VC340 support poly aftertouch ?
Thanks for all the great content and positive attitude. It's a real uplift to see your new videos. Please keep up the good work.
I don’t think the Behringer has aftertouch. Smaller footprint?.. hmm, the roland vocoders are tiny, no keyboard snd they sound really good
@@Doctormix after doing a little research it looks like the Roland VP-03 might be what I need. I find it strange that it lacks a line Input to send carrier signal to it but has a built in sequencer ??? .The sequencer COULD be REALLY useful but I'd sure like to be able to send my own carrier signal to it. Seems like that feature would really enhance its capabilities. I don't see much else in this range that has carrier in besides EH V256 which lacks some other features I need.
Regarding footprint: I've got 2 control boards for my live setup right now Studiologic Numa Compact 2 for weighted controller and Arturia Keylab Essential 61. Both small profile/footrprint and light. I need to keep the tier number to two. I've tried 3 tier and separate tier many moons ago and didn't like either. Most of my live setup is triggered by Keylab. It has excellent MIDI control flexibility and I can't see changing it. If I had to add another board for vocoder it would expand the stuff I need to carry for live gigs by more than just another board(in this case the VC340). As you get older(like me) it gets harder to move all this stuff around and size/weight becomes increasingly important.
Thanks for the advice and best wishes.
Awesome! Had a grat time watching this!
brings back so many good memories brilliant Doctor Mix
I can just hear it now...
...These great covers accompanied by an Alesis Sr16
Thought so :)
6:08 My Favorite Song! 🔊🔊🔊
Your progressively ramped-up crash cymbal in the street caused me to burst out with such laughter and happiness that my family thought I had gone mental.
Loved the selection of lovely music. Fab.
8:20 I wonder what the hell that girl had thought at that moment... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I missed the bridge choir of Styx's The Best of Times and so Gary Wright's Really Want to Know You.
Behind the Mask by Yellow Magic Orchestra is my favorite vocoder song
Luna Nightfall
Ha, I never heard that version. I always knew it was a Sakamoto song but I always assumed it was written for Greg Phillinganes. Silly me!
@Luna Nightfall YES, more than 'absolutely'... what an intro, what a band, what brilliant Japanese high qualities. Glad you mentioned this, here...thankies!
the song is too obscure for the list titled famous songs
@robinsss 'We' know... If Doctor Mix introduces a top 11, it would certainly appear there! Maybe an 'alternative vocoder songs top 10'?
I love your videos Dr Mix, so whacky and full of energy. Keep it up man 👍
Awesome as always Doc😁
I need a part two for this vid. Missing songs, just to name a few:
Midnight Star - Freakazoid / Operator,
Herbie Hancock - I Thought It Was You
/ Come Running to me / Tell Everybody,
Zapp & Roger - So Ruff So Tuff / More ounce / I Wanna Be Your Man / Computer Love (when it comes to vocoder songs, how on earth could you miss Zapp & Roger, I just don't get it),
Phil Collins - In the Air Tonight,
Yellow Magic Orchestra - Behind the Mask,
Stevie Wonder - Race Babbling, Close to You, 1-2-3 Sesame Str
Zapp and Roger use the talkbox, not a vocoder.
Wow your "Oh Superman" rendition is awesome!
It IS, I had tears in my eyes
I agree, LMAO with the ending crashes!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Lots of love Claudio, you’re the man! 😁👌
OH SNAP! Anyone that knows Prologue from ELO's time is definitely worth it! One of my all-time favorite albums!
Pleased you had Laurie Anderson's O Superman, but you missed one of my fav's - Herbie Hancock's 'I thought it was you'
A drone cam for that last bit? That was hilarious. You really worked harder better faster stronger!
Oh and, please turn me over
Awesome vid! I just started trying to implement the vocoder on my Microfreak into some songs and this is a great inspiration to continue that!
I love it!! especially the ending bit hahaha👋🏽👋🏽👋🏽
You are an insperation with your enthusiasm and joy playing music 😊 thank you for doing what you do. I have in my collection a 1974 hammond dolphin and in the process of getting a mid 70's farfisa thats complete with the pedals and leslie amp. You should do scorpio by grandmaster flash and the furious five with the vocorder. Anybody agree?
Idk if this counts as a vocoder song but I kinda wish you did the Martian War Cry from Jeff Wayne's Musical: War of the Worlds. I've never seen anyone recreate it really well.
Ohhh !! That intro from the ELO !!! Love it !!
You made me remember a song i have been looking for ages thank you
I know that Roger Troutman / Zapp played the talk box ...what’s the difference between the talk box and The vocoder? Awesome job, you nailed it!
Ha! Huge difference.. the talk box pushes the sound down a tube into the mouth. the vocoder modulates a synth sound with the signal from a microphone
Doctor Mix Wow, thanks for explaining. I noticed the differences but noticed Roger had a different tone and less robotic.
@@Doctormix Herbie Hancock uses the vocoder with a minimoog to create a human singing voice
you forgot "Intergalatic Planetary" by the Beastie Boys and "In the Air Tonite" by Phil Collins. Your Earth Wind and Fire nailed it, btw
Awesome video, such appreciation for the work that went into making that one....looove it....
my favorite vocoder jam of all time. "Bass Generator" by dynamix II (probably an SVC350)
This has become an all new way of entertainment. I love it and it’s not just a show and tell thing, anymore. It’s Show-Watch-&-Tell.
You Rock!!
Dude I want whatever you’re smokin’
Good synths
Lol
That ride cymbal, though! This was the funniest Dr. Mix yet!
Final of the video is epic! Good job mate!
