The reason why Fionna pantsed herself is because Queenie told her to give her the uniform and so Fionna was doing a cheeky "Oh you want my uniform back? Here." Sorta thing.
I think the bear was just a magic bear, and Finn didn't actually get hit by the bear, he fell backwards into that weird magic thorn bush which I think slashed his back.
The pants thing is very much something Finn would do
@@Rockollthat was also my initial thought, although now that bill mentioned it, I noticed that the bear’s mask has a horn on only one side…kind of like the Lich…I don’t 100% buy that’s what it was but considering we saw that mask again during the credits of episode 2, I think it’s absolutely going to come back into play somehow. It feels like anything is possible at this point
@@corgio1260 I figured it was probably a situation where that was related to Huntress Wizard in some way because she has a similar looking mask, maybe she told Finn to stay away for a reason? The episodes parallel eachother and Fionna ran into Hunter so I'm thinking maybe the bear was meant to symbolize a similar encounter, maybe a protector of the forest that was shape shifted, the bear did grow and make another arm after all, and they are in some way related (by blood or otherwise) to Huntress Wizard.
Whenever Finn attacked the bear he yelled evil bear. Whenever Finn lost his hat in the original show Jake says okay let's go slay an evil bear and make you a new one. The bear that they killed had a mask on made out of the same kind of material as fins hat. My assumption is that this is the kind of evil bear that they have to kill whenever Finn needs a new hat

He's such a beautiful man though, and I love that part of his coping is spending time with his neices and nephews. It's good knowing that Jake dying wasn't enough to completely disconnect him from his adopted family

I mean, its part of life, many people have those issues, dear relatives that are gone hurt, but not everyone can aford therapy, so people just have to find a way to cope with things. He seens to be doing just fine, he live his life, adventure, have friends, family, his doing very very good
for real, he distracts himself on thrill-seeking and if he wasn't practically a demigod i'd call his actions borderline suicidal.
I mean, he is who he is. This feels very true to Finn's character to me, especially with episodes like the dungeon train. This is Finn without Jake.

As Finn said in Together Again, he was just waiting to meet him again, he tries to keep his mind of his sadness by doing other things, by adventuring, that's what he tried to do with Simon
One detail is that on his walk back from the quest, Simon passes the exact same people Fionna passed by on her walk to the bakery
You mentioned Fern a couple times and we do see him! He’s in the first episode as one of the humans. Genderbent Fern is the girl with green hair and flowers on her head 😆

More Adventure Time content is always a good thing. And I love how the universe grew up with it's audience, allowing for more epic and mature storytelling. This show's going places.

I CRIED when Simon called Marceline. If you've ever been going through something tough and you text a friend and ask how they're doing because you need to vent and you come to that (false) realization that you are a burden to them and you only serve to make them sad. Ooof that's a hard feeling to go through. I also think Finn grew up to be emotionally stunted. You see him grab the blindfold and even Simon thinks Finn is going to wrap up his arm and Finn just doesn't. Maybe a reference to no one cares about the pain I'm in emotionally and physically. Although I think that's a huge part on Finn because he seems to be too childish and not at all grown up.
If you pay close attention to the background in the first episode the world that Fionna and Cake are living in seems to be glitching out. There's weird symmetrical chunks missing out of buildings and parts of the street signs and traffic cones upside down, it kind of reminds me of the turtle car from Infinity train

Kind of interesting to note that despite the American accents, Fionna's world is actually based off a European nation or Australian territory.
For one, you have Gary measuring in milliliters, and steaming milk at 55°, which... wouldn't work in Fahrenheit.
Secondly, and relating to vulgarity and swearing, Fionna gives The V twice in this episode. Once in the opening montage, and again when Queenie fures her. A hand gesture that is regarded as vulgar in several European nations, Australia, and New Zealand.
Marshall Lee seemed unfamiliar with Gary's baking, so i think we're gonna witness their meeting and courtship.
And the use of "Cheers" harkens back to when Simon used the theme song to anchor himself, so he could use his ice powers to protect Marceline and not lose his mind.
I had a more unfortunate explanation to Finn adventuring with TV, and previously with Bronwyn. I don't think he's including them. I think they have a rotating schedule to keep an eye on him, make sure he's OK. And Finn, he is definitely not OK.
I totally didn't get the metric use and didn't know about two fingers being a ride gesture in other countries
We in Canada also uses those metrics and most of us have an accent that sounds very indistinguishable from TV American accents☺️ I think it’s supposed to be a mesh of English speaking countries, but meant to be a metropolis like Toronto or New York! I like to HC that it’s meant to be Canada with Fiona just using the V because she likes to watch British TV LOL

@@cheyennem25honestly that makes the most sense that it's Canada. It being a mix of American accents but possibly in Australia or the UK feels too convoluted.
The references were absolutely amazing, the fact that Finn still blindfolds himself after hall of egress, the fact that choose goose is still evil after what he did in the special episodes, but the best theory and the best thing about the first episode is the gingerbread people all having a missing leg.
A theory has already spread that this could be the limb that Fionna loses, Finn lost his right arm and the gingerbread kept missing a left leg so it could be opposite. I love this series so much already.
The fun did end. Everyone is depressed.

Remember: The lich is sweet pea, plus the hand lich in this world is dead. Finn won't meet the lich again until he is dead in Together Again.
Also, remember that Fern died, and is the tree that is growing at their old teahouse. The intro showcases said tree.
TO BE FAIR... This series is exactly about different realities, so... Lich Hand *isn't* really out of realm of possibilities

I was thinking it was more of a radioactive green. We know the world is nuclear and the animals seem to be normal except mutated. I think in order for Fiona to join Simon Finn has to die. Kind of like two of the same person can't exist in the same timeline.
Don't know if you noticed but not only has the Ice Prince a reference to Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon. He's also a fusion Ice King and Gunther with Princess Bubblegum and the morrow
Fionna took off her pants because her boss told her to turn in her uniform, so she was going to turn it in right then and there.

i'm very sure fionna did the pants thing because. . .well, she's literally Finn, and all we know that our boy would totally do that
so now they don't have to restrain themselfs for demographic themes, fionna can now just do a lot of things that Finn totally would without problem but she couldn't for being in a childrens cartoon

She's the equivalent of Finn in her universe, but she's different from Finn in so many ways.
I don't like how people tie Fionna and everyone in her universe to Finn and everyone in his universe cuz it's literally not getting their character.
Also, Fionna has always been an adult which is one of the things that differences her from Finn

I LOVE the way the cursing just fits right in. like “bust your balls” is such an adventure time way to curse?? and when marceline said “pissed” I didn’t even take note of it until I saw people talking about it online. however the blood is really throwing me for a loop I’m so used to not seeing blood in cartoons

It's feeling like it happened to Samurai Jack last season. It's getting darker and deeper so i think it's better this way.

Your reaction was one of the ones I was most excited for and it did not disappoint! Love how you really dive into the more psychological and emotional aspects of the show. And I would love to see some rewatch videos, especially the 'miniseries' seasons that got canned cause of tech difficulties!
17:49 I will say, Adventure Time was doing a Multiverse way back in season 4-5 so about 2011-12. That was 4-5 years before the MCU even started toying with the notion.

Simon was a big reason I kept up with Adventure Time by the end of it's run when it felt like it was starting to drag a bit (the schedule didn't help), i just wanted him to be ok (AKA not be Ice King anymore) and now... well, I still want him to be okay but like... mentally lol

I got so dang excited when I saw this upload. You dug into all my favorite bits that have been plaguing me since I watched the two episodes myself! This show makes me sooo crazy and the theories and questions just keep building

Finn doing the blindfold thing is a reference to the EGRESS episode!
We do see Fern :) but you gotta remember that he died in the series finale and handed Finn a seed that looked like a small dagger (broken sword?) version of the finn sword to plant where the tree house was after it blew up because his final wish was to see the tree house one last time.
We also see gender bent fern in the bus with green hair and flowers (it says fern in the credits) and we see his little tree body glitch into a grown tree in the opening of the second episode
I am so glad you covered this! I would LOVE if you reviewed/re-reacted to the parts of Adventure Time you missed. There were so many episodes, one offs and arcs, that I'd love to hear you talk about.
These episodes were really fun and exciting. The songs are excellent and the one in Simon Petrikov hit so hard. I am glad Fionna is being given her own spotlight and isn't exactly the same as Finn, most of her friends aren't 1:1 either. I only vaguely recalled Wizard City's end credits scene so the Choose Goose thing was a fun surprise. Hopefully Simon anf Fionna/Cake can all help each other heal.

I think that the increased age rating works really well in this show, but I do think that if it was the same rating as Adventure Time, then not much would have changed, as they don't really use it too much and I would have enjoyed the episodes just as much!
The only thing that bothered me a little is that Fins hand changed halfway through the episode!
Also unrelated, does the "copyright disclaimer" keep loosing quality every time it is used or am I just now noticing that it is that low quality?
I would love to see a rewatch of adventure time! In my experience, rewatching adventure time is such an interesting experience because you have so much more context than you did in the first watch.. you're able to further analyze and look into the motivations of more complicated characters and pick up on certain themes you might've missed during your first viewing. :) Plus I'd love to hear your opinions on stakes and islands!!

it seems pretty obvious that fionna and cakes world is existing in simons head with events in her world reflecting simons experiences and memories in the real world. i can see her world having always existed first in ice kings mind where it was magical and exciting until the moment betty turned ice king back into simon and suddenly fionna and cakes world changed to reflect the human civilisation simon once knew as he regained his humanity leaving fionna with this sense that something is missing and longing for adventure she was a character created to reflect finn an adventurous spirit only to have her world ripped away and forced to live a mundane life.
I feel like the reason Fionna's world seems like a lot more normal is because Simon is no longer the ice king so whatever crazy fantastical world the ice king imagined changed as he became simon again but the world and characters remained because he had already created them and they're basically the same person. So like the little references of the previous world are like the little bits of ice king that are in simon

The fuonna and cake ideas were beamed into Ice Kings' head from an unknown source.
The crown isn't anywhere gunther/orgalorg merged with it by wishing to be ice king after it was reset.
i like to think that when the magic was removed from simon, it was removed from his imagination too. so fionna lives in a real world now to reflect the "reality" simon wishes he had. i'd assume that prismo was notified of this since a "not real" universe is now being made "real" and that's probably against some rule or something

And "Gary" as a name is a form rp separate him from PB's character since, like the crew said, he's not PB adjacent.
He's his own person with different ambitions, interests, ideals and insecurities and even his relationship with others (like everyone else's in Fionna and Cake's universe) like Marshall and Fionna are different with him just being Fionna's best friend instead of a crush and him and Marshall not being aquatances but stil having a romantic plot instead of having an ex's to lovers thing going on unlike Marceline and Bubblegum

I'm very excited about this series for multiple reasons. The whole mutiverse thing is sick, and I've been waiting for a Fionna and Cake spin off since the first episode featuring then came out!
The story of Simon now seems super interesting too, my man will go on a journey of self discovery to find who he is now that he's not Ice King, and I love that for him. Can't wait to see the dynamic between Fionna and Simon too, since he's going to know now that they're real. Also I have questions about Cake, will she turn into a talking magic cat now? I don't know and I can't wait to see.
And obviously, besides of all the plot, I'm interested in seeing Gumball (Gary now I guess. Does that mean they need a new ship name besides Gumshall? 😂) and Marshall meet and fall for each other, since it seems like they don't know each other so far, and Marcy and Bonnie are thriving as a couple already. My boys will finally be Canon too, and that makes me so emotional 😢

Know your busy with other stuff now, but would be sick to see you react to chainsaw man dub. Not really the usual kinda stuff you react too, but think something a bit darker would be a nice change of pace. Just a tip tough!
