Thanks, watched your video while I was getting ready to go out and start my rigging. Probably use some of your ideas. If nothing else you saved me some trouble. Have you ever been hassled using a sail without canoe being licensed? Here in Iowa my 14' does equipped with sail.
That rig worked well for me when everything was closed during the pandemic,, halve since switched to a commercial off the shelf rig, bit something like that should get you started.
Hi, I found your channel today. It's a funny coincidence. I also made a sail for my 17" aluminum canoe and sailed between petrie island and the rideau waterfall this summer. Can you give me a clue where I can get used sails cheaply? I hope to see you guys on the Ottawa River next summer ;-D
You can pick up dinghy sails off kijiji a lot of the time. Most dinghy sails are pretty big for a canoe though. Optimist sails are good. They can be had pretty cheap even new.
No, the boat sails poorly without the leeboard. The outriggers don't make much difference to sailing performance, they might actually make it worse, but they do provide extra stability.

Long Sault? Looks like a very nice setup.
Yes, Long Sault. Perfect boat for the area.
Have you found the leeboard to be redundant because of the outriggers?

Why oh why is marine glue so expensive?
I don't know, but it is. A gallon of West System Epoxy and hardener is almost $300.
Because they know you'll buy it. There has to be some substitute somewhere though...
