I see this video is a the top of the Falcon Sail customer UA-cam Video play list. It is at the top of 107 videos shared on this list. ua-cam.com/play/PLsYw0pX3rPQlTlNwXHXEjUIUJKSzb-ih6.html
Awesome. I am working on a new kayak for sailing. Skin on frame. Roughly similar in size and shape to a dagger Stratos 145. I made the centre bow support stringer wider than the plans recommended to accommodate my Falcon Rig. I think it's going to be cool.
this is awesome
Thanks!
I've got that canoe. I should make it sail!
Grumman 17's are fantastic sailing canoes
Looks like another fun trip!
It was good, wish I had discovered canoe sailing earlier, could have saved a ton of money on keel boats lol.
I have the same inflatable outriggers. On my last trip out when they were submerging they almost flipped or rotated 180. Ever had that happen?
Yes I have, they normally flip back upright on the next wave.
Maximum canoe speed reached
lucky it wasnt raining
👍👍👍
Must have been a nostalgic sail.
All done with Lake Deschenes. Back to trailer sailing next year :)
👍👍👍
Hi, do you have any experience with Island Packets we have a 2000 420, I often tell people she decides on the day which way she’s going in reverse, and being a she, she never listens to me!
Very nice, thank you.
Thanks!
👍👍👍
Does that old stone building have a hydro electric turbine in it?
@@mifkan I don't think so. Former flour mill now a museum and restaurant. I will look again next time I am there.
Beautiful area. I used to paddle there all the time. The old rail bridge is especially neat. Now that I live near there may go back and visit.
It was my first time, pretty river, I want to see more of it.
I've been missing your videos for some reason. I always appreciate them. I need to get back out there. Is your life vest also a small pack? Thanks!
Thanks, I have been spending a lot of time on my motorcycle lately, so not a lot of boating going on. No back pack, it's just your standard kayak guide type vest.
Thanks!
Wonderful
👍👍👍
Nice, indeed! What are the rights for camping and boating in Canada? Here in Finland, everyone has the so-called everyone's right, i.e. you can anchor and go ashore practically everywhere (of course you can't camp in a private yard or in a nature reserve during bird nesting time) also on private land and, for example, you can freely use tents for a few days. You can also pick berries and mushrooms freely from both private and state lands. After all, in the United States, which should be a free country for free people, almost everything is forbidden. How about in Canada?
In Canada you can anchor any where and go ashore anywhere below the high, high water mark. You generally can't camp on private land but can camp and do as you please on "Crown Land" (land that was traditionally owned by the British Crown). In this case we were in a National Park so you have to pay about $15/night to camp. Canada has more camping and waterway rights than the US, but less than some other places I have read about like Scotland,Norway, Sweden and probably Finland. There is a huge amount of crown Land where you are free to do as you please (hunt, camp, fish etc) away from urban centres.
In Canada we have some areas of Crown Land set aside for public use, and other than that, and parks, it's pretty much all private property, with more and more shoreline development each year (they keep allowing people to build in ever more precarious areas and then wonder about all the material damages caused by climate change!). In my opinion there should be a moratorium on further waterfront development, as we are quickly losing access for the public.
Mate I did similar thing but put motor etc batteries in mine.. love it man keep up the good work
@@bigdreamslittlepockets9492 awesome
That looks like some big water! A real adventure! Sure sounds like the little ones were enjoying the trip! ❤
For sure, it's big river. Kids love it.
👍👍👍
Looks like another great day on the water!! Kelly
Hoping to get this rig out on one of the CanAm trips one day :)
@@travelbywater9378 That would be great - I still need to get out to that Col. By Island at some point. Considering heading down to North Carolina next year for the OBX 130.
Ah the sun and waves I remember it well 😢 Oh wait summer is coming back lol thank you
Sunny, but that spray was cold, even I got chilly after a few hours :)
Your akas are criss crossed the two with cleats are rear akas. Also, the trampolines have one end angled. That end goes to the rear, smooth side up. I learned this because the one I just bought was the same way. Luckily it came with the manual so I was able to figure all this out by reading it... Mostly just looking at the pictures😅 Thanks for the content!
👍👍👍
It was good hooking up! Di and I hope to hook up again! AllthebestRoy
Since this video was from a while ago.. Did you do your solar panel upgrades and such? How did it work out?
I have a Torqeedo 1103 with a 100 watt solar panel now. It's awesome. Way better than gas or a trolling motor
You have a link for the inflatables?

How sea worthy do you think it would be in waves with that closed deck?
The only waves of any size I have had it out in were power boat wakes on the Rideau and it seemed to handle pretty well. I think it would be pretty good.
Just too much going on
Where might one find a similar sailing rig kit?
The company is called "Balogh Sail Designs". They have a web site, I bought used.
@@travelbywater9378Excellent thanks!🙂
You should put your Falcon Sail on this. If you will do a video with it, you can have us send you an extra boat kit. It will sail good. We are going to get a light weight short canoe some time soon. Your boat looks even better.
Do you need help with that, No! What about No thanks.
That would work great on our pond.
Good summary of PLB capabilities and usefulness. One nice feature of PLBs versus messengers like Spot and InReach is that PLBs have enough signal strength to broadcast directly to geosynchronous satellites. In the US, NOAA has 3 such sats overhead at all times, capable of receiving and re-transmitting distress signals. Devices like Inreach must wait for a satellite to come over every 90-100 minutes, then the sat must travel further along its orbit to pass along that signal. So there are delays involved. PLB service is also free of monthly charges.
Belo e simples! Gostei de seu projeto.
Le gros défaut de ce bateau est le puit de derive de la coque qui est trop court, l'eau remonte par le puit est ce répand dans l'embarcation en dessous du banc central ...vraiment dommage 😢.
👍👍👍
That is a pretty cool boat, I like it.
@@JoeOsChannel she's a lot of fun to paddle. Playful.
Such great times can be had sailing a small boat!! I haven't put my sail kits on canoes yet!! But it will be one of my next adventures!!
I have a 21 ft sailboat too, but I find I enjoy sailing the canoe more. For one, there is no outboard needed.
@@travelbywater9378 it is a much more pleasant way through the water!!
I need to know how to cover this canoe
@@janetjohnson1176 I haven't got there yet :). Next winter project.
Sorry I didn't get it. What was the reason for the video? You want to show us that a long keel sailing vessel has a lot of propwalk when you start to steer in reverse? Well, every sailing vessel show this attitude at the beginning, more or less with no speed. A modern shaped sailing vessel need also a minimum of 0.5-1.0 knots of speed in reverse, depending of the shape (without wind and current). A longkeel vessel probably needs more speed in reverse? Or it's simply impossible to steer a longkeel in reverse? Why you didn't show us your longkeel in reverse with 2 or more knots of speed? It would be interesting to know if there is a significant rudder steering in reverse with a higher speed, or not. Thanks a.h.
I love the video that's the incentive I was looking for concerning buying a new tent thank you👍
@@walkiriaa.3590 thanks :)
The best video of them all. Excellent!
Thanks, those boats are a blast.
How many miles can you get with your torqeedo and what speed?
Pretty far at 3 knots or so. I have done 2 weeks without a recharge, in and out of anchorages.
Great Boat! Thx.
Long shaft or short?
That's a long, but it's way too long. Short would be better.
