Ounces and grams are weight measurement but you're speaking volume. I could only endure eight minutes. Luck to ya.

In response to your long statement comparing the ounces of the glues, ounces refers to the weight of the glue not the volume. I do appreciate your comparison though as I am looking for a good quality glue stick for collage.

Thanku so much I've been wondering which 1z esp as we only get Elmer school glue n cheaply sticks but if it's affordable it'll be fab:)). Have u ever seen Jennibellie's site she uses a 3 glue approach n it really does work n hold So permanently even with cheaply glue sticks but it's kinda time consuming if ur not used to doing it that way so yeah I just thort thort:)). Take care n stay crafty:)

I think the best glue stick comes from Michaels in a yellow tube with a red cap. Its called Pioneer...describes itself as an embellishment glue stick. Its cheap and it stays put.

Hey Stacy! The weights you were comparing may look different in size because the actual glue itself may weigh more or less so when it's packaged, one may be bigger than the other... thanks for the comparison! Very helpful

I came to say it's by weight not volume. But I see that's been covered.

A pound of feathers vs. a pound of lead...weight and volume don't equate.

I really appreciated this vid. I normally use gel medium for collage when I'm doing mixed media, but sometimes you have a water reactive background(like my new Distress Oxides!) and you need a good glue stick. I've not heard of the Ranger collage glue before, but I will definitely be getting some. Thanks! Those Microns are great pens, but the fine ones especially are notorious for drying out fast. The Frugal Crafter has a video on refilling them, IIRC it's just black India ink, which is very inexpensive. HTH!

Cool. The net weight does not include the weight of the container:-) The triangular one may be more dense (just the contents, excluding the container).

Have you ever heard of the Elmer's Craft Bond Extra Strength glue sticks? They have a "permanent" bond (with paper), but they work great for tacking down pieces of fabric when you are sewing together fabric collages, like for tags or stuff. They also have some blue Gel school glue sticks, which are better than the purple bc they are tackler imo. Both have always worked very well for me. I especially love the craft glue sticks, those are my favorite.
As for your issue with the microns, do you keep yours in a pencil case or a baggie? That will definitely help you, depending upon your environment of course. But I've had my current set for nearly three years and they still work great! I keep mine in a plastic or fabric pencil case. Honestly, from my experience, the Faber Castell Pitt Artist pens dry out quicker than the microns. But their longevity also depends on what type of surfaces that you are writing upon. Like, let's say that you're writing over gesso or mod podge or something like that; then the pens do pick up particles from those types of medium that soak into the nibs, and that could catalyze their drying too. Lemme know what you think about the glue and stuff, Stacy!!!! Thanks for doing this test, its great to know which ones work better.

SB Artistry now the alymer glue I started out with is terrible! I have yet to find any alymers that works well for me,,,I use anything but that!

The Elmer's is clearly bigger and I'm beginning to wonder about Ranger. I love their paints and sprays .. Micron pens are so easy to dry up. I like those also but not worth the money

  • @TodaysSpecialMinis

It's going by weight - not by size. And I'm sure all the glues have different formulas and chemicals and so different densities. Also - I feel you on the micron pens. I LOVE them for the fine tip, but the ink does dry up. I'm not sure if it's alcohol based or oil based ink. Putting them in a plastic bag seems like it might stop them from drying up too quick - test and let us know. I like using rapidograph pens because they last quite a long time. I have had some for years and they still work. Good on the glue test - I am always on a quest for great glue and I've never heard of the triangle one.

Thank you for comparing things. It really does help making an informed decision. Wonder if the glue stick weights are based on density regarding the volume. Will be ordering some ranger glue.

Why not use plain old pva glue in a bottle with a nozzle 🤔 the most glue sticks are anyway from a typ pva glue made.

  • @everythingpixi2155
    @everythingpixi2155 7 років тому

The glue itself may be more dense then the other. It looks more dense then the Elmer. Thicker. Anyway, in any case, great video dear! I am always looking for advice on glues and things artsy. :)

If these glue sticks are measured by weight, then the discrepancy you notice could really just be a difference in density.

I am looking for a glue stick that dries strong and clear and doesn't ripple paper - but is also bendy once it is dry - like doesn't make the paper feel stiff. Do you have a reccomendation?
