You are such a chill reviewer. No being extra, no trying to make it about yourself, just a chill and informative reviewer who talks about the figures instead of making it about yourself. This is exactly what I watch videos for. Great video my dude, keep up the great work.
I try. Thank you for watching. Click the bell for more honesty and straight up toys. I wish the UA-cam algorithm loved that but they don't. It wants me to talk fast and have my face on the screen.
The deciding factor for me was the transformation. I owned Crimson Wings and every time I transformed him it felt like I was about to break the wings and shoulder spikes. I also prefer the height of the MP, I think Starscream should be the shortest out of Megs and Sound/Shockwave.
DS-01 for me. Robot mode is just so perfect. I really like the official one too but DS just looks like the picture in my head from watching G1 as a kid. So much cheaper too. Takara are getting way out of hand with their prices.
I have the official, but the DS looks to have the correct proportions and color. The official has the sunbow height, but the disproportioned thighs give it a subtle dwarfish look. I want to get the DS now.
If ds will rerelease it at right size that would be an insta buy. If other's preferred the height of ds but liked the takara hopefully someone would os mp52 then we good.
*To anyone reading this: Get whichever one YOU like best. Any of those 3 are great representations of Starscream @ the end of the day. This is coming from an MP-11 owner lol.* Gr8 comparison Tman978👍
@@TMan978 Woah! Why you attacking my MP-11's now.!? Haha jk man. Yea down the road I would like to swap them out but unfortunately just for me it isn't a Top Priority @ the moment. Was thinking it would be cool to mix and match the Seekers (just to check out each mold) but aesthetics of the MT IMO don't really match the other 2 and the Official and DS would work but unfortunately the size is off from those 2.
I just got my crimson wings, it's amazing. The details in the panel lines looks great. Feels solid and holds together great. Yes, it's a very involved transformation. But worth it. Hands down, the best of the three.
@TMan978 For sure. I hate that Meteor's head is too small, and his face is too dark. The tail wings into the legs is a great idea, perfected by Takara.
I know it's an old figure and it's oversized but Robot Hero CG-01 is still my favorite. It's amazing in jet mode, looks like a model kit and it's good in robot mode also. Holds together great and has improvements over the original mold. Easy to transform and play with.
@@reload54 it amazes me how people overlooking the hideous underside of these jet modes. With robot hero, as you said, it looks like the real deal. Personally, it still bugs me the kibble under the thrusters, but, unlike these, the front underside is decent. Oh and because it's oversized, it scales better with standard mp cars...
I want to jump in here. It may look a mess but they didn't make the underside of the jet look like a real jet even on the cartoon It always looked somewhat close to the toy
@@TMan978 it all comes down to personal preference. Personally I like for my small collection to look like a realistic diorama that can change to alt modes every now and then so yeah, old molds for me...
I had all 3. Sold my Maketoys as soon as I received MP-52. I then picked up DS and stuck with the DS set. I like MP accessories and flight stand but the figure itself looks dwarfed. I also have Cloud 9 Shockwave ( larger Shockwave) and think DS looks great next to him.
The Crimson Wings looks the best in robot and in jet mode (save for the exposed screws in the intakes), but God that hellish transformation makes it arguably worth it just to get the Masterpiece instead.
This is a great comparison video. I’ve been debating back and forth about which one to get between official Screamer and Crimson. At the end of the day I might have to get them both. MP-52 for the playability and the accurate gray color, and DS-01 because of the extra hip joint that lets him cross his legs! At first I was skeptical of DS-01 because of the hollow parts and visible screws in the back, but after seeing a picture of it with the filler pack installed I’m convinced. I’m not sure which I’ll get first. It would be wiser to get the more expensive MP first, I suppose, but I’ll need to save for him. The local small business toy store has one available for a small markup and I want to purchase that specific one to support the shop owner. That being said I’m not sure if I can be patient long enough to scrounge together the cash before pulling the trigger on the DS! When I do eventually get Crimson Wings, I’ll probably transform him into robot mode, install the back filler, and then never transform him again, just use him for robot play and posing. I’ve seen the videos of how excruciating and frustrating he is. Yeesh!
Honestly I feel the same way where theres too much I want from either or that I might just get both of em. I love Crimson Wings with it's cleanest Robot mode of the bunch, best articulation, and colors. But he's missing something I find very important to Starscreams character; a Screaming face. It's in his name but they didn't include one. It's so integral to his character I can't not have G1 MP Starscream without him being able to grovel to Megatron asking him to spare him. That as well as other things like the effect parts and the flight stand really help round out the package even more that I wanna get MP52. And on top of that of course the MUCH more fun and easy transformation. Like I wanna have fun going between an alt mode and Robot mode, not have it be an arduous chore. It's also a weird scenario where I can actually see myself enjoying the aesthetics of either or on anyday of the week. I like the Blocky aesthetic of Crimson wings and the imo more cartoon accurate lighter colors, but I also like the more rounded animation accurate look. And even though the grey is a bit too dark I actually do like how it looks sometimes and I can't lie as much as I hate paintchipping that paint looks amazing on MP52 But once I saw the wing fillers on DS01 made him look actually 100% perfect to the G1 animation model, and balancing that out with everything MP52 does right, I can honestly see getting both. Having MP52 be the more playable one that I can go betwewn modes with and DS01 be the pure display piece staying in Robot Mode and being very posable
@@TMan978 although I love how Crimson Wings looks, the scale is really important to me so I'm going with MP-52. I will have to update my 2009 Hasbro TF Universe Skywarp to the MP-52 model I think though to match. And find a Thundercracker. Lol!
I went official because they are way more versatile. The formation space looks nice but they are cookie cutter plain Jane action figures at the end of the day with nothing special going on
T-man I’ve been watching this review and I wanted to thank you for the transformation video on Crimson wing .I remember you said you did it for five times before you filmed it. I was wondering if you practice what you’re going to say but I think you’re a natural!
Do more master piece and master piece styled comparisons like these, very cool seeing these guys together, about to go watch the Optimus one, Love these!
At this point people are just gonna hate everything Takara makes. It's a shame, cuz even if they have made a lot of mistakes, sometimes they make good stuff, just like MP52. I say this because when we started to see how Starscream was going to look, people were literally saying that it was "Too cartoon accurate" and the transformation was gonna be horrible, but when crimson wings (which look awesome undeniably) started to show up, those complains just disappeared
It’s cheaper and pulls it off a little better. I actually like the Takara but it has a dated look based on that animation style…maybe I’m crazy. 140 seems like a steal.
I like most things about mp52 but the ankles are so loose he can't stand up and any neutral pose and he typically leans forward. That's just unacceptable for such an expensive figure. The stand could have been the savior in this case but it's too short to be able to accommodate the robot mode. And is also to loose to carry the weight of the plane mode at any tilted angle. So I don't think there's any widespread irrational hate for Takara products. It's that Takara has been dropping the ball on fundamental things.
I agree with the comments you made at the end of the video about CW and SS. Why would I want the other when I can have all the fun play stuff with TT. Both are good but subjectively, one is slightly better. Have a great day!
T-Man, thanks for the video! I have both the DS-01 and MP-52. I like all the accessories and extras that MP-52 comes with. I much prefer the height and the look of DS-01. DS-01 will be my displayed Starscream. Also, your correct Starscream is an F-15 Eagle. I can’t wait to get the DS Thundercracker and Skywarp. Thanks again!!! 🙏
Thank you for the review. I've been wanting either the DS-001 or the MP-52. This only confirms that both are excellent choices but it's MP-52 for the slight win.
@@TMan978This video was recommended to me again as I was searching for the MTRM seekers. l ended up buying MP-52 Starscream and don't have any regrets doing so. As for the MTRM seekers, I was looking for reviews because I knew about all the problems they're having and wanted to see if it's still worth it. I ended up buying Thrust and Ramjet as they're my 2 favorites, especially Thrust with his red and black color scheme. Hopefully I'll get them within the next 2 - 3 days.
Some collectors say they aren't going to change the Maketoys Starscream for either the Takara or the DS and I understand if they don't want to spend more money in seekers but please don't say it doesn't justify because the improvement isn't there. The Maketoys version may have been a good TF action figure when it was released specially when compared to the old Takar MP but it's miles away from these two new versions. It may fill a spot, with a new colored face plate, but it will never have the same impact, at least not to someone who actually knows what they are looking at. Be it as a TF action figure or a cartoon G1 Starscream representation, the Takara and the DS are way better at both. Between the Takara and the DS Starscream, since both are very good, it's a matter of preference, in my opinion the price point difference is so big that the DS takes the win without a fight. Thanks for the comparison TMan978.
From the moment i saw the ds, i knew it was for me, just is presence makes him the ideal starscream , i like the transformation, coming from a badcube fan 😀
I really like both Crimson Wings and the official MP, and I'm having a hard time deciding between the two. In your opinion, which one feels more "premium?" Like, disregarding the price, which one stacks up better compared to TT's best offerings or FT's best offerings?
Thanks for making this video. Sorry to hear that people have been verbally abusive in the comments. Saddens me that some people make it difficult for others who work hard to make these videos for people like me who are trying to decide which figure to purchase. Keep up the good work TMan978.
I just got all 3 of the Maketoys updated EX figures for $70 each. They do feel like updated MP-11 and for 70 bucks, I'm happy. The original Walmart exclusive MP-11 Starscream was $50.
Walmart Starscream was based on MP-3. Toys r Us MP11 Starscream was only 60 which was great but that mold had been used so many times by then. I didn't review it in this video but both two original molds felt so riggedy and outdated compared to these.
@@TMan978 That's right, MP-3. I get the numbers mixed up. I have that in his alt mode and these are and upgrade from that and will replace my MP-11 Starscream and Thundercracker and my MP-3 Skywarp on my shelf.
- Meteor will always have a special place in my heart for breaking out of the horrible 'jet-first' MP Seeker mold (and because of how hard it was to hunt down TC & SW versions of the mold after they vanished from the market) . Plus I LOVE that you can actually transform him in a decent time . That feels like an actual fun toy , unlike say a "Fans Toys" product , which is a (often not fun) time consuming & boring project to transform . - Crimson Wings takes second place, despite me not being crazy about the red that was used on him . That clean back VS the horrendous backpack on the V.2.0 MP Starscream -- it's a clear winner right there . I also can't deal with the arm bits showing on the sides of the plane mode of the MP V.2.0 ... , and the bottom of that MP plane mode is just a mess (next to Meteor for example) . I can't tell if the designers of the MP V.2.0 just didn't have enough time , or if they were less competent team , or if they intentionally done goofed up for the eventual MP V.3.0 ... -- what ever it was , something was off there .
Thanks TMan. The size of DS-01 is what throws me off. Wish the official had better thumbs, but other than that his presence is amazing. It's a great world we collectors are living in, when we can be splitting such fine hairs.
I think that was a straight up review. As you said, socially/mentally challenged commenters please check yourself. I think you're on point for all of it. Maketoys was great when it came out, but it's behind the curve now. DS is an amazing option, especially for the price. And the Takara is the best overall product, with its fit and finish, accessories, etc. I personally have the Maketoys from ages ago, with an adapter to use the MP-44 head. When the MP 3.0 was coming out I had already decided I didn't want it for two reasons. The price and the alt mode. The figure looks great but not enough to replace my Meteor at that price. The DS was announced and I was close to pulling the trigger, still feel the itch, but, well, current economics etc. Pretty sure I'll pick up both SkyWarp and ThunderCracker from DS because I want to finally complete that trio. There IS the KO of the MP coming, but for some reason I don't think I'll go that route. Thanks for the comprehensive review.
With coronation season around the corner it's good for a potential potentate to have a few body double body guards on hand just in case of a galvanizing situation.
The takara Starscream does look great but i got the deformation space because i found the price alot more reasonable plus i really don't need all the extra accessories since they just wind up staying in the box
Great review. I have the official Starscream. Happy with him from top to bottom. Both the Takara and the Deformation Space looks good and brings good presence to the table. The scale varies from comic to comic and TV episode to TV episode but overall from my viewpoint regarding Megatron's height compared to his top Decepticons: Megatron is tallest followed by Shockwave being a tad taller than Soundwave followed by Starscream and the other seekers. The Deformation Space version is too tall for my display of Megatron with his top guys. And just a FYI, official masterpieces don't always make the cut for my collection because I actually have and prefer Make Toys Despotron over the MP-36 Megatron. Bottom line what ultimately works for your collection ends up being the best option for you.
See people! This is how you are supposed to be constructive. I actually like that maketoys Megatron. I've never touched it but I used to want it bad. I need to see if he's on sale somewhere cheap one day.

Thanks Tman for your reviews on SS. I'm impressed and convinced on the DS proportion overall. Getting the DS one. The folding wing back on MP 52+ doesn't look promising to me.
I still like takara’s head/colouring more since going back through the cartoon but the white is kinda greyish on the DS so having both feels really good but I am not transforming DS cause it’s a mess/pain, takara however is fun to transform but the paint rub is why I’ve only done it once and am never doing it again.
@@TMan978 mine isn’t bad since I decided I’m not transforming it but it’s like I thought as well🥲 that’s the shame with these 3rd and 4th party MP’s the paint looks so nice but man paint rub sucks
I do have bad social skills due to mental conditions but I'm still kind and polite Since I haven't watched the video yet I gotta admit that I do think crimson wings is the best. I personally do in fact like complicated transformations. He has less kibble in both modes (minus the jet mode of meteor that's of course the cleanest jet) than the others. (Arguably the jet underside is personal preference) The waist swivel everybody wanted for so long. And since im not too concerned with scale I have no problem with him being technically too big.
I too have mental issues, but like you,it doesn't stop me from being sensible and polite most of the time. Hope this comment finds you in good spirits, man.
I still don't have any of them but I preffer DS. It's like cartoon character and its proportion is just perfect. On the opposite, (don't know if anybody else noticed that) MP-52, his legs looks very skinny for the hips it has. Good review! Thanks!
ds IS THE DOPENESS I Love mine, its really AMAZING what some of these 3rd party guys are able to pull off today...now all i need is a coronation set that fits it =D
Great video! While I have heard of you before from seeing your video posts on the Tni forums, I didn't really watched your videos until now - I viewed this video because I was looking for a review transformation video for MP Thundercracker 2.0, but the subject of this review has caught my attention. I like how you actually take a more objective approach to the three figures as a lot of commentators online would tend to favor the unofficial ones just because they aren't official. I have the official MP Starscream figure, but Crimson Wing seems to have a cleaner look due to the actual panel seams being on the sides of the toy unlike the official. However, the official seems to have more of a cartoon asethics look in terms of proportions. To clarify, one of the complaints ppl have with the official figure is how his upper legs are slim as in they get narrower near the knees. However, just looking at the Sunbow screenshots online, that is accurate to the sunbow model. I feel that Crimson Wing is too bulky when it comes to asethics - an asethic decision that unofficial toy companies seem to do with their toys. For instance, all the unofficial Prime, Megatron, and even Kup suffers from this. While there are ppl who enjoys this heroic look where everyone is bulky like a space marine, it is an asethic choice I don't prefer especially if done with figures that are "Sunbow accurate" - most Sunbow characters aren't that top-heavy bulky.
OK. I've got to ask. Your quick aside when you talked about not preordering Thundercracker vs Skywarp. It's funny because I feel similar about Skywarp. I liked him more but I never really could put a finger on why. Why do you like Skywarp over Thundercracker?
@@TMan978 HAHA. Agree on the color scheme. He was a better looking character (especially with the orange cockpit thrown in. His superpower wasn't used enough I think. Who do you think was more intellectually challenged, though? They both were thugs....
Thann is for review. In my opinion- maketoys with mp 44 starscream head still pops most off shelf and I have all three. But the DS and Takara are too good not to find a place for em too In alt mode, no contest the MT wins
Thanks for a great comparison TMan, enjoyed seeing all three of the current best options for MP Scale Starscream. As a owner of the DS Starscream, I agree its a great, no frills, solid action figure option, transformation is awful, but has a good price point (providing you paid between $130 - $140 for it). I love the look of the official and its playability options, but I'm cheap :) and couldn't justify the price point & I'm now down the DS rabbit hole and have pre-order their Thundercracker and Skywarp. Thanks again for a great comparison.
i have both. official is good but they still need to do better since they own the brand and the product, DS is definitely better all around except for transformation which isn't fun no matter how you spin it. DS goes in the mp display but the official you can have some fun with although your miles may very cuz i heard some got some loose parts but Qc issues has always plague any toy of any brand.
Maketoys meteor was amazing for its time. I'd say all maketoys were ahead of their time, especially their jazz. It was hard to imagine a way to improve on meteor but DS has done it. Both transformations are tricky. I think meteor still has the best jet silhouette with the least amount of bot baggage underneath. DS has a near perfect bot mode, and I love the jet details that remind me of early MP. I think the toon-to-a-fault designs work ok for bot mode but really wash out the alt modes. MP3 is still in my collection. It's special as a concept and work of art.
I am very anti-backpack. I remember in one of Jobbys videos he was talking about how yes, most people look at the front of the figure, but ultimately it is a 3D object. The back shouldn’t just be that one place where you shove all the junk that didn’t fit into the robot mode. The backpack on the MP is excessive. It hangs below the waist almost halfway down the thighs, it’s almost the same thickness as the actual torso, and it makes him back heavy. That is especially a problem since the knee and ankle joints on him are so flimsy. The transformation is complicated for both the mp and crimson wings, but at least with crimson wings there is a purpose to it, making the back a lot flatter, cleaner and more accurate. The bit on the mp with the bottom of the wings covering up the rear fins is cool and creative, but at the end of the day you can still see the blue fins poking out, and the back remains unsightly. Crimson wings needed an angry/scared face. When people photograph or pose starscream, a lot of the time it’s a scene of him cowering in fear of megatron. Maybe they’re banking on people buying skywarp and thundercrackers repaints, which could include different faces? If you like play, I’d say the mp. If you like accuracy and feel, probably crimson wings. And get meteor if you’re a starscream fanboy who needs every version of him to ever exist.
Love the video, my 12 year old son and I watch your videos all the time. Love the channel. My sons birthday is in November if you don’t mind giving him a shoutout in one of your videos. Keep putting out awesome review videos and stay safe.
I don’t have either of the other molds, but I have the Maketoys Thundercracker. And out of all of my numerous Thundercrackers he’s my least favorite. The transformation does some cool stuff conceptually but he doesn’t feel good to handle. The plastic feels very cheap, and while I appreciate the use of bare plastic for less paint chipping, it does add to the figure feeling like it’s more expensive than it should be. It should be $80 usd at the absolute most not $100 or more.
Meh. I just don't like "cartoon-accurate" TransFormers. The old-school Mastperieces might've compromised on the modes a bit, but with rivets, panel lines, rubber tires, working suspension, die-cast parts, "working" limb pistons, and so forth, I felt I at least got my money's worth over these smooth, bland simplified versions we're getting these days -- at ridiculously overblown prices. Bloody good comparison video, though! Thank you!
I can only think of one masterpiece figure that has a ton of those features you mentioned. Lol. They dumbed them down pretty much immediately. For me, it's easy for them to make a super detailed stylized figure that has got articulation. In fact they've been doing that for the war for Cybertron trilogy. But in my opinion, masterpiece is taking the impossible and making it into reality. As a kid I never thought they'd be able to take the cartoon designs and make them into fully functioning action figures. And that's what I've been wanting my whole life.
@@TMan978 Yeah, after the MP-03, they started getting simpler and simpler, and after Tracks / Loudpedal, there hasn't been a single MP I felt was worth getting. Well, if you're happy with them, that's great. I reckon they wouldn't be making them if people weren't buying them. Just not my goblet of mead, any more.
@@TMan978 Yeah, I actually quite like that mould. I don't LOVE it, because it does have its problems, but it's the only way I'll ever own a Corvette Stingray. 😉
wow my dream come true!! its like having Barry white sexy voice doing a review, very god comparison, thanks a lot for your service, for me crimson wings it is!. hasbro lately its slowly adopting the formula of make toys 3p manufacture. you can only transform them once... and that's it...! also as time goes by the figures are getting smaller. that includes m.p. lines
I think that DS looks Fantastic!! I don't think it could get anymore toon accurate. The articulation is all there, they fix the proportions. I just wished he had a Glossier paint app. The Takara is amazing as well. The Maketoys is nice!! Is the the head and hands are poor. They should use the slot system Fans hobby does on the hands!! As always great review TMan978 🌟
Well, Maketoys Meteor can pair up with Maketoys Despotron. And MP-52 can pair up with MP-36. Crimson Wings? Well, it's a toss up between X-Transbots Apollyon and DX9 Mightron...
Great review man! The biggest gripe I have with the official is the faux cockpit! Biggest “no” for me! Which is why is went to Deformation. Btw, anyone ever tell you you sound like Chappelle? Haha
The DS is cartoon accurate but it doesn't look as derpy as the official. I can't quite put my finger on it, I think it's partly the proportions and partly that Steve Urkel waste that Takara gives everything these days.
i vote for Greenscreem MP03!!! j/k. I dont know which i would pick between MP52 and Deformation, they both look great. Based on price, at 140$, probably the deformation one which i can afford one day, and especially because of the wing articulation is alot more then MP-52 (which is very important for me), but MP-52 has all the face expressions (and much better, which is also very important for me) and better paint quality and colors (to my eyes) and easier transformation and gerwalk mode and accessories, so really hard to say, but man that price... That said, i dont have money for either this year unfortunately, so oh well, still got my greenscream, lol.
I love the look, accessories, & scale of the official Screamer but that said, I had to go with Deformation because of the price...I'm just getting into MP scale figures but paying $30 less for Screamer than I paid for Pumkin Unicron wasn't an option...Deformation looks great & I plan to get all 3 once they release Thundercraker & Skywarp...its hard to go in on all 3 official but if I was able to spend $800 for 3 figures I would be in on the officials...
I think MP 52 is the most cartoon accurate in Jet mode. A lot of people keep saying that he is missing the stripes on his tail. I just watched the series again and I mostly see him without the red stripes on his tail but hey, I guess its down to perspective and what you prefer!
I was thinking this too. What it seems to me is that, in a lot of the official promotional art, you would see the red stripes on the tail fins. But in the actual cartoon...not so much. I guess there could be a debate about whether this was intentional, or just the animators cutting corners. If I could pick one definitive cartoon source for how characters are SUPPOSED to look, it would be the 1986 movie (which presumably had greater care put into the art than the series did). As far as I can tell there's only one brief scene in the movie where we see Starscream in jet mode (during the beginning of the battle for Autobot city as he's flying down to attack Arcee and Hardhead). In that shot, there's no red strip on the tail, so in my opinion the official design of the actual cartoon had no red stripe.
Hey man, I'm curious. Do the faceplates on MP-52 fit onto DS because it does look like both of them have the same head sculpt. If they do fit I might get the CW and KO of TC and SW instead.
For me the Crimson Wing doesn't scale right, just seems too big. So I've gone all in with the Takara Seekers and the million and 1 repaints they'll be doing and no doubt Conehead 2,0. Great comparisons TMan!!!
Problem is you are comparing it to MP which really should be compared to other MP and similar KO. Crimson in my eyes isn't an exact rip off and hopefully we see more in this line. I like the larger figure.
Great review. I think the price will be what breaks the tie... although, for some reason, I like the Thundercracker and Skywarp better from TT. Too bad they don't scale the same or I'd mix and match.
Great review! 👏 . I really like the Masterpiece line Never touched an Unofficial Other than KFC blaster. But yeah 1st StarScreem I got pretty solid to me. P.s do u think masterpiece MP - 44 Is worth it at price point in Your opinion.
Right now since you're paying the late tax, I can't say it's worth it unless you really really want it. If you're someone who only buys a figure here are there and you can really appreciate your purchases by spending a ton of time with them, it might be more worth it. Me, if you watch my channel enough you see how many toys I have coming in. I get maybe a week to spend appreciating. I pre-ordered early on Amazon Japan so I only paid $330

I've seen the transformations for DS-01 and it just looks so stressful!
It is great to look at.
I just don't transform it.
Not ever
Let's not mention the transformation cause I ain't doing it.
I have the official, but the DS looks to have the correct proportions and color. The official has the sunbow height, but the disproportioned thighs give it a subtle dwarfish look. I want to get the DS now.
You should

MP-52 is the correct height, DS isn't. starscream's allways been the size of ironhide, and allways been gray, not white

I have Maketoys and MP-52. With the awesome articulation, I don't even notice that Takara doesn't have waist swivel.
Same. It's also a more solid figure that doesn't come apart when you move it
@TMan978 For sure.
Oh and it's cheaper.
Mp11 looks horrible in robot mode
I had all 3. Sold my Maketoys as soon as I received MP-52. I then picked up DS and stuck with the DS set. I like MP accessories and flight stand but the figure itself looks dwarfed. I also have Cloud 9 Shockwave ( larger Shockwave) and think DS looks great next to him.
I'll allow it
The Crimson Wings looks the best in robot and in jet mode (save for the exposed screws in the intakes), but God that hellish transformation makes it arguably worth it just to get the Masterpiece instead.
Yeesh!
Thank you for watching
And even though the grey is a bit too dark I actually do like how it looks sometimes and I can't lie as much as I hate paintchipping that paint looks amazing on MP52
But once I saw the wing fillers on DS01 made him look actually 100% perfect to the G1 animation model, and balancing that out with everything MP52 does right, I can honestly see getting both. Having MP52 be the more playable one that I can go betwewn modes with and DS01 be the pure display piece staying in Robot Mode and being very posable
Great vid! I was looking for a comparison video because I'm trying to figure out which one was gonna be my fav and this really helped out! Thank you!
What did you decide?
@@TMan978 although I love how Crimson Wings looks, the scale is really important to me so I'm going with MP-52. I will have to update my 2009 Hasbro TF Universe Skywarp to the MP-52 model I think though to match. And find a Thundercracker. Lol!
I went official because they are way more versatile. The formation space looks nice but they are cookie cutter plain Jane action figures at the end of the day with nothing special going on
Your comparisons between the different MP Optimus's was the 1st video of yours I saw. It's awesome that you're now doing one for Screamer too.
T-man I’ve been watching this review and I wanted to thank you for the transformation video on Crimson wing .I remember you said you did it for five times before you filmed it. I was wondering if you practice what you’re going to say but I think you’re a natural!
Typically I think about what I'm going to say in the video before I say it but while I'm filming all of that can go out the window.
Thanks for the thorough comparison.
Thank you for watching
I have the Maketoys & the Takara versions, might as well get the DS version.
Call it a set!😄
Great comparisons! I'm happy to be all in on the MP-52 Mold for my seekers
Do more master piece and master piece styled comparisons like these, very cool seeing these guys together, about to go watch the Optimus one, Love these!
I do have a whole chill comparison review playlist
@@TMan978 Love these videos. Comparisons are always cool.
@@TMan978 alright, I’ll check it out!
I agree with all of this. Crimson Wings is beyond cartoon accurate looking. Nobody cares because it's cheaper and has a waist swivel.
It’s cheaper and pulls it off a little better. I actually like the Takara but it has a dated look based on that animation style…maybe I’m crazy. 140 seems like a steal.
I don't know about dated but if you like the DS one more, I can't blame you
I like most things about mp52 but the ankles are so loose he can't stand up and any neutral pose and he typically leans forward.
My MP52 has no problem standing straight up.
I thought this video was coming but I figured you would wait till emperor star scream came out.
GREAT VIDEO!!! 🙌🏾🔥🙌🏾🔥
Who?
I just bought the DS-01. I hope to get the mp55 soon. I have the galaxy meteor. Thank you for the wonderful video
It's "Mah-kay Toys". Thanks for the video!
I keep forgetting that. 🤦🏾♂️😆
Awesome Tman…keep up the great work brother…🌍🤔🌞🔑
Thank you for your simple and very straight forward review. Your video helps me a lot to choose. More power to your channel and stay safe. Thanks!
I agree with the comments you made at the end of the video about CW and SS. Why would I want the other when I can have all the fun play stuff with TT. Both are good but subjectively, one is slightly better. Have a great day!
Lol. I love when I get comments that make me watch my own video. I don't remember what I said.
Thank you for watching!
No probs
Thank you for the review. I've been wanting either the DS-001 or the MP-52. This only confirms that both are excellent choices but it's MP-52 for the slight win.
I ended up with only MP52 and his brothers
It undoubtedly has a great presence!
Luckily my statement calmed people down. Lol. Well that and UA-cam deleting people's comments
Thank you for this, dude. This is precisely what I needed when I needed it.
Great video my man! This helped me go with the DS Version. By the way he is back up for Pre-order on Showz
Thanks for watching. I sold my DS
@@TMan978 Oh wow! Did you end up sticking with the MP? Anytime!
@primedynamixx Yes I kept the MP and got the other two between him and DS, I had more fun playing with the official
Thanks TMan. The size of DS-01 is what throws me off. Wish the official had better thumbs, but other than that his presence is amazing. It's a great world we collectors are living in, when we can be splitting such fine hairs.
Thanks for watching. My favorite 2 are really really good
I think that was a straight up review.
It was already a great video, but your outtro song freaking rules!
Thanks
GREAT COMPARISON VIDEO
Thank you
I went with Crimson, no complaints🙂
The takara Starscream does look great but i got the deformation space because i found the price alot more reasonable plus i really don't need all the extra accessories since they just wind up staying in the box
I use my accessories
Sometimes you sound like Tom Waits. This only improves the Transformer reviewing for me. Amazing stuff!
Crimson Wings gets my vote. Not perfect. But it's the least flawed.
I'll allow it
Great review.

Wow when I saw this comment I went straight to Showz. And there and behold there is the preorders for them. 👍🏾
Thanks Tman for your reviews on SS. I'm impressed and convinced on the DS proportion overall. Getting the DS one. The folding wing back on MP 52+ doesn't look promising to me.
All three are super nice..but I must say that DS imo is the best.
I still like takara’s head/colouring more since going back through the cartoon but the white is kinda greyish on the DS so having both feels really good but I am not transforming DS cause it’s a mess/pain, takara however is fun to transform but the paint rub is why I’ve only done it once and am never doing it again.
DS has rub as well
@@TMan978 mine isn’t bad since I decided I’m not transforming it but it’s like I thought as well🥲 that’s the shame with these 3rd and 4th party MP’s the paint looks so nice but man paint rub sucks
Crimson and Mp-52 is tied to me.
I get yelled at for thinking that
Thank you man, excellent video to make a choice, since money IS an issue for me I need to make an educated decision haha
Crimson Wing is perfectly good but I really like the official one so you honestly can't go wrong
@@TMan978 appreciated TMan!
I do have bad social skills due to mental conditions but I'm still kind and polite
Since I haven't watched the video yet I gotta admit that I do think crimson wings is the best.
I personally do in fact like complicated transformations.
He has less kibble in both modes (minus the jet mode of meteor that's of course the cleanest jet) than the others. (Arguably the jet underside is personal preference)
The waist swivel everybody wanted for so long.
And since im not too concerned with scale I have no problem with him being technically too big.
I too have mental issues, but like you,it doesn't stop me from being sensible and polite most of the time. Hope this comment finds you in good spirits, man.

@@theredoctopus3196 You are Ultra deluxe welcome man!
I still don't have any of them but I preffer DS. It's like cartoon character and its proportion is just perfect. On the opposite, (don't know if anybody else noticed that) MP-52, his legs looks very skinny for the hips it has.
Good review! Thanks!
ds IS THE DOPENESS
I Love mine, its really AMAZING what some of these 3rd party guys are able to pull off today...now all i need is a coronation set that fits it =D
Sir, why would they curse you? You are a good reviewer. Keep it up 🤘🤘🤘
Great video!
Thanks for watching
OK. I've got to ask. Your quick aside when you talked about not preordering Thundercracker vs Skywarp.
It's funny because I feel similar about Skywarp. I liked him more but I never really could put a finger on why.
Why do you like Skywarp over Thundercracker?
Because black and purple is beautiful. That and he actually has a notable superpower... That went horrendously unused.
@@TMan978 HAHA. Agree on the color scheme. He was a better looking character (especially with the orange cockpit thrown in.
His superpower wasn't used enough I think.
Who do you think was more intellectually challenged, though? They both were thugs....
Probably Skywarp
Mp-52 is really cool. I wish i had
Who's the best?
All 3 in unison: "I am!"
😂 true
Thann is for review. In my opinion- maketoys with mp 44 starscream head still pops most off shelf and I have all three. But the DS and Takara are too good not to find a place for em too
In alt mode, no contest the MT wins
Sure
Thanks for a great comparison TMan, enjoyed seeing all three of the current best options for MP Scale Starscream. As a owner of the DS Starscream, I agree its a great, no frills, solid action figure option, transformation is awful, but has a good price point (providing you paid between $130 - $140 for it). I love the look of the official and its playability options, but I'm cheap :) and couldn't justify the price point & I'm now down the DS rabbit hole and have pre-order their Thundercracker and Skywarp. Thanks again for a great comparison.
At least you don't technically have to transform the next two unless you want to. People like me are forced to. Smh
i have both. official is good but they still need to do better since they own the brand and the product, DS is definitely better all around except for transformation which isn't fun no matter how you spin it.
Yes, Meteor is definitely more sleek in jet mode.
Am not gonna lie! I've been going back and watching the cartoon...and Starscream was never that small. I don't care what that Somebow chart says🐱🚀
Most characters were close to the same height. So you're kind of right except when you're wrong. Lol
I still like the official the best. DS is also great if you want to go that option
So whos the winner? In my opinon you are, cause you have all 3! Great vid.😄👍
#Humble

Great comparison review T-Man!
Slick jet mode great bot mode cartoon accurate..love it's style
This was perfect - thank you! Not feeling any of them 😁
I don’t have either of the other molds, but I have the Maketoys Thundercracker.
I love the mp52..especially that i dont transform them frequently
TakaraTomy should get to work on a Masterpiece seeker 4.0 (aka version 3.0) mold. The MP-52 mold ALMOST looks good.
See you in 10 years
Wow. A ton of ppl hate Tracks.
@@TMan978 Yeah, I actually quite like that mould. I don't LOVE it, because it does have its problems, but it's the only way I'll ever own a Corvette Stingray. 😉
I like all three of these figures
I like the facts that the fans are gone.
wow my dream come true!! its like having Barry white sexy voice doing a review, very god comparison, thanks a lot for your service, for me crimson wings it is!. hasbro lately its slowly adopting the formula of make toys 3p manufacture. you can only transform them once... and that's it...! also as time goes by the figures are getting smaller. that includes m.p. lines
The size of the figure seems to be dependent on the character. MP44 is just as big as MP10. He might even weigh more.
@@TMan978 it does feel way smaller
I think that DS looks Fantastic!! I don't think it could get anymore toon accurate. The articulation is all there, they fix the proportions. I just wished he had a Glossier paint app. The Takara is amazing as well. The Maketoys is nice!! Is the the head and hands are poor. They should use the slot system Fans hobby does on the hands!! As always great review TMan978 🌟
Thank you for stopping by
Well, Maketoys Meteor can pair up with Maketoys Despotron. And MP-52 can pair up with MP-36.
Crimson Wings? Well, it's a toss up between X-Transbots Apollyon and DX9 Mightron...
I feel embarrassed for Crimson Wings for being compared to those two.
great comparison. great opinion.
Thanks for watching
I always going towards cartoon accurate..i think mp52 is 👍
Great review man! The biggest gripe I have with the official is the faux cockpit! Biggest “no” for me! Which is why is went to Deformation.
Btw, anyone ever tell you you sound like Chappelle? Haha
Deformation Space, it's not even close
The DS is cartoon accurate but it doesn't look as derpy as the official. I can't quite put my finger on it, I think it's partly the proportions and partly that Steve Urkel waste that Takara gives everything these days.
I would get def space starscream. Mp skywarp and some other Thundercracker on a shelf.
MP-52 is better imo. The color is correct, the transformation is much better than than the others.
Agree
Is that really it? I won't be mad if it is
Wish DS was the same size as MP52. Wanted to get their Thundercracker as he wouldn't be a straight up repaint and cost less. So much for that.
I had this same thought. Lol. Sucks you can't mix and match seemlessly
I'm the opposite - Wish the MP-52 was the size of DS. Also wish it wasn't $260-$275 either lol.
i vote for Greenscreem MP03!!!
I sold mine.
I don't have DS anymore but I'm going to go with no
For me the Crimson Wing doesn't scale right, just seems too big. So I've gone all in with the Takara Seekers and the million and 1 repaints they'll be doing and no doubt Conehead 2,0. Great comparisons TMan!!!
Thank you for watching
Problem is you are comparing it to MP which really should be compared to other MP and similar KO. Crimson in my eyes isn't an exact rip off and hopefully we see more in this line. I like the larger figure.
Great review. I think the price will be what breaks the tie... although, for some reason, I like the Thundercracker and Skywarp better from TT. Too bad they don't scale the same or I'd mix and match.
Great review! 👏 .
I really like the Masterpiece line
Never touched an Unofficial Other than KFC blaster. But yeah 1st StarScreem I got pretty solid to me.
P.s do u think masterpiece MP - 44
Is worth it at price point in Your opinion.
I have Meteor as well. The bot really looks dated now, but the jetmode is still very nice.
Jet mode is cool if you hold it gently
@@TMan978 Yeah, that's true, lol
One day we'll get a scale model of an F-15 that turns into an articulable, perfect recreation of the cartoon character
