I've bought 2 pre-built pcs(one from digital storm and one from ibuypower) and the thing I've noticed is they lean toward cheap or inferior parts like the ssd was some random horrible brand and went bad on both pcs...also the liquid cooler from ibuypower went bad and I had to pay to ship it back to them...after that I finally decided to build my own pc and have had zero problems
I did the same, Cyberpower. Nothing failed but I learned lots of the components were garbage.. bought new case, no AIO new mobo and new PSU. CPU was running at 90 degrees when I bought it
any pre-builts from 20'-22' were pretty unreliable due to the market/chip shortage/logistic constraints etc. So almost every pre-built were using the cheapest parts possible to save money on their end. I am sorry that this happened to you.
Great video for beginner PC users! Some people may not have the time or patience to build a computer. Prebuilts can be a great alternative. Thank you toasty bros!🤘
Hey there! As a tech enthusiast, I totally get the appeal of prebuilt PCs for people who don't have the time or inclination to build their own. It's great to see alternatives that make gaming accessible to more people. By the way, have you considered investing in a HOTO Compressed Air Capsule? It's a handy tool for keeping your desktop and other spaces clean. Let me know if you want more info!
I bought a custom prebuilt from lyte gaming (one of your guys sponsors) and little me never decided to check the parts, pretty much I got a $700 but I spent $1200, I realized this a little too late for a return.
don't trust them. They are selling computers for waaay higher than they should. I just checked their website and saw a pc with a i3 10100f and a gtx 1650 for 725. That's a good 250 dollars over what you can easily get yourself.
Prebuilt sellers pretty much assume that the buyer won't check the parts. Before I built my current PC, I had to do 2+ hours of research to get the right parts at a good price.
I don't want to sound like a jerk here, but just because tech channels accept money from companies to sponsor those videos, it doesn't mean that they're a reputable company. Tech channels with 5000+ subscribers will get random emails from companies paying them for sponsor spots on videos. That is good free money for these channels, and a large majority of tech channels don't necessarily have reputable sponsors. Look at toastybros recent videos with AliExpress sponsorship. Sure not all AliExpress products are scammy or garbage, but I wouldn't buy any expensive PC parts from them. Sure a keyboard or cheap headset would be okay, but not for main parts. Just my opinion. No offense meant to toastybros specifically, most tech UA-cam channels have this issue.
This is why you build your own PC, pick your parts, build it and you are your own support center. Building a PC is something that really anyone can learn to do.
True, but not everyone is comfortable with doing it. There are good SI that can build systems for almost the same price as buying all the parts separately. It really comes down to what your time is worth? If you're not comfortable and/or don't have a few hours to do it, then a good SI is worth it.
This is accurate, I come to find out that I had a bad ram module when my games kept crashing on my 4 year old rig. I tested one module at a time and the one it wouldn't even post with
You could always learn that stuff afterwards, no? I feel prebuilt is still a good option for people who are just in need of a pc and don’t want to spend time learning a new skillset beforehand. May not be perfect but it is significantly simpler and accessible. PC’s are not always as simple as watching a video tutorial and unexpected things can happen. Incompatible parts, inefficient parts, etc. some people don’t want to do all that research and just want a pc that you can work and play games on. I WISH I bought mine pre built to negate all the bs I had to do before I could actually sit and use it.
The prices on amazon are looking so good for prebuilts, 1660 super i5 16gb ram 500gb ssd 3tb hdd for fucking >$400, if I had the space, I'd get one with no hesitation.
I think it’s worth mentioning that you don’t need to obsessively check for driver updates. I have friends who are always downloading new drivers for their graphics card. If something’s not performing right or new game comes out that u need drivers for ya, but it’s not like you’re missing out on performance when u missed this weeks new driver lol
Hey there! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. While driver updates may not always drastically impact performance, staying up to date can definitely improve stability and compatibility, especially when it comes to gaming. It's good to strike a balance between being overly obsessive and keeping your system optimized. By the way, have you heard of the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule? It's a handy tool for keeping your desktop and peripherals clean. Cheers!
From my first PC until today, I have always been building it by myself. It makes you learn a lot of new things while making something useful for yourself, save few bucks and future proof later upgrades you may need.
Hey there! As a fellow DIY PC builder, I totally agree with your sentiment. Building your own PC not only helps you learn and save some money, but it also allows for future upgrades. By customizing the components, you can optimize your setup for your specific needs. That being said, if you're looking for an efficient cleaning solution for your desktop, I'd recommend checking out the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule. It's a handy tool for keeping your system dust-free. Happy building!

Hey, I recently came across the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule and I think it could be a great addition to your PC cleaning routine. It offers powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities, perfect for keeping your desktop spotless. Plus, it's compact and versatile, making it easy to clean tight spaces and even your car's interior. Worth checking out!
The part about the warranty isn't true. There are two types of warranties: implied and express. All products are covered by warranties, whether or not a company explicitly states so. If a seller makes a promise about its goods, then it has already created an express warranty, making them liable if the goods do not conform to the consumer's expectations. Implied warranties are automatically applied to all products by law, regardless of a seller's promises of the goods. This is codified in Uniform Commercial Code Article 9. Avoid buying computers with description saying just i7 or GeForce GPU etc ... Often you will get something that was released decade ago (with same brand name, of course) . They might be cheap, yet still overpriced.
Google says "Pre-built gaming PCs are complete systems put together by well-known manufacturers using balanced and reliable hardware configurations. They are produced in quantity by some of the most trusted names in the PC space."
Good question! I have a hp victus with an extra stick of ram and upgraded GPU. I still call it a prebuilt. Maybe when everything in the case is different than oem? Great question though!
depends on the type of prebuilt you bought. if the MB and Case can never change then you always have a prebuild. my initial build was assembled at a store, but i have since changed the MB and Case and added parts, so i do not consider it a prebuild. my hp prebuild is a R5 3600G 1050ti, i took out the 1050ti to use in a different build but i still consider the HP to be a prebuild since all the parts in it came in the box and it still works, although I optimized it to my preferences. the HP Case and MB were designed for each other so I wont be breaking it down, it will reach a limit to its upgradability much sooner compared to my other builds and that will be the end of its path, though even down that path i will consider it a prebuild because the MB and Case cant be swapped. heck, even the ssd that came with it is linked to the MB so ill just end up cleaning it out completely, fresh installing windows, buy a heat sink for it and just leave it in, its slow but gets the job done for what i use that build for.
When it no longer has a standard ATX layout, then again Legion T5 can take a motherboard and PSU swap. I guess it depends on the case having the same name as the company that sells it fully assembled.
Question I got a amd Radeon hd 7470 gpu how do I enable game overlay ? Using crimson software but can’t find the option someone told me alt plus r but want to verify
correct, by default the key is ALT+R to launch the full in game overlay menu and ALT+Z if you wish to only launch the sidebar also.. I would consider upgrading that GPU (that is of course if you can)
If I bought that Prebuilt right now I will immediately throw away the stock cooler because it looks ugly and it sucks and spend another $45 on a better cooler
